Code Name: Ghost by Sawyer Bennett Release Blitz

I knew the risks of this job when I signed on with Jameson Force Security. Knew my time as a marine would prepare me for the danger I would face. But no amount of training could have ever prepared me for the helplessness of watching my teammates die, the agonizing mental and physical pain of torture, or the despair of captivity.

Returning home to Pittsburgh following a mission gone wrong, I am riddled with guilt and haunted by nightmares. I spend my days trying to regain the parts of myself I lost in that desert, the pieces that made me the Malik Fournier I once was. While the physical effects of my torture are fading, the emotional ones are proving much more stubborn and I find solace from the last person I should ever seek such comfort.

Anna Tate lost even more than I did in that mission. Now a widow and a single mom to the daughter she gave birth to shortly after her husband’s death, Anna offers me comfort I don’t deserve. As my feelings for Anna grow, I worry that once she learns the truth about what happened, she’ll turn her back on me.

I pull her to me just as tightly as I push her away. Hoping this forbidden love will save me from the ghost I’ve become.

I have waited for this story since Malik went missing; it has been a struggle for him, but he has now been rescued and is trying to get his life back on track.

As Malik adjusts at being back at Jameson Force, all he wants to do is get back in the field. He doesn't want to talk about what happened or how he is feeling. He was not expecting Anna to come at him from out of the blue. As they grow closer, he has a feeling that when she learns how her husband died, she will not want anything to do with him.

Anna is happy that Malik has been rescued, she didn't know him before he left on the mission where he was kidnapped. Now he is back and they are working together. As they become close, she is beginning to have feelings for him.

What happens when Anna finds out just what happened when Malik was kidnapped and Jimmy died? Can their new relationship survive the guilt that Malik is feeling? What will happen when Malik is approved to go back on missions?

This is another great story for Jameson Force Security. It is filled with pain, heartache, heartbreak, and love to heal them both, if given a chance. I cannot wait for the next one. I hope you enjoy this one too.

This is the fifth book in the series – and wow, have we been waiting for Malik aka Ghost to return home and share his story. I would definitely recommend that you read them in order, to get the full richness of the Jameson family and the importance that they place on their community. It is not only in this series that we know of his disappearance, as he is brother to the Fournier hockey players in the Arizona Vengeance books, and he is mentioned in the Wicked Horse series too.

Malik may be back, but he is still deeply affected by what happened to him and the team, and the guilt is a heavy weight on his shoulders. That he feels so much for Anna is both a blessing and a curse. She most definitely makes him feel and want to be alive. Her impact on the team generally is important, but for Malik it is entwined with grief, loss, love, and hope for a future he never thought he could have.

Getting the story from both sides, we can appreciate that they are two intelligent, passionate people who believe in communication, trust, and friendship. It makes for a very lovely love story – I highly recommend it to you.

Malik had almost lost hope. Alone, beaten, and starving, he knows that his time is almost up. He can't help but feel guilty as he is rescued. Going home to his family is just what he needs. When he goes back to Jameson Force, Malik wants to get back to missions, danger, and the life he knew. But with his guilt weighing him down, he doesn't know if he can really just jump back in. When he is forced to speak about his captivity and his guilt, Malik is skeptical. But with the help of his fellow operatives and Anna, Malik learns that it's okay to lean on people.

Anna is compassionate, strong, and an amazing character. I loved how she interacted with the operatives and how she was able to get anyone to open up to her. She is fiercely protective of her team and her family. She befriends Malik knowing that they share a deep connection and loss.

When Malik knows that he wants more from Anna, he's worried that his secret will prevent them from ever finding their own happiness. Seeing these two work through their grief and loss, finding happiness and friendship was a very great story. I can't wait for the next one.

Puppy Kisses by Lucy Gilmore Blog Tour

These adorable service puppies
are matchmakers in the making...

Dawn Vasquez never takes life too seriously. But when she rescues a golden retriever named Gigi, Dawn begins to imagine what it'd be like to settle down and let someone rely on her for a change. Unfortunately, Adam Dearborn—a handsome, hopelessly buttoned-up cattle rancher in need of a guide dog—has also fallen in love with the little ball of fluff and stubbornly insists that no other animal will do.

Adam isn't sure what drives him to fight to keep Gigi for himself, but he suspects it has something to do with his growing—and unfortunate—attachment to Dawn. Her whirlwind spirit and sunny disposition might make her a delight to be around, but they also make her unsuited for the difficult life of a rancher. He should be able to put her out of his head. But what's a love-struck cowboy to do when what he wants and what he needs have never seemed so far apart? And can he allow himself to take a chance on everything Dawn has to offer: puppy kisses, puppy love... and her.

Mentioning her lips had to have been some kind of tactic. Just the word—lips—had him remembering their shape and size, the way the bottom one was so much plumper than the top, how good they felt when pressed against his bare skin. She always warned him to scrub hard before he met up with any other women, since she left a trail of lipstick all over his body.

He wasn’t seeing any other women, but there was no way he was telling her that. She already had him under her spell. He didn’t need to be under her power as well.

“Thank you for the offer,” he said tightly. “But I already like—”

“—the one you can’t have,” Dawn finished for him. She was definitely closer now, the unmistakable nonscent of her mixing with the hay and dirt to whirl his senses. “That seems to be a sort of thing with you, doesn’t it?”

He ran his hands through his hair, since it seemed suddenly important that he do something with them. It was also important to do something with this situation. If he let her continue like this, unchecked and uninhibited, there was good chance neither one of them was getting any work done today.

“As I recall, I’ve had you plenty of times already,” he said, a challenge in his voice. “In fact, I bet I could have you right here and now.”

Adam didn’t know if he was the one who’d drawn closer to her or if she’d stepped up to him, but there was no longer anything between them. Not a puppy, not air, definitely not common sense. The jut of her breasts pressed softly against his chest, the toes of her shoes touching the tips of his work boots.

His hands suddenly decided they had minds of their own. Moving forward to clasp her around the waist, they touched silky fabric and heat and a patch of skin where her shirt didn’t quite reach her waistband. That alone should have been enough to stop him—what kind of a person wore a tiny, silken shirt to a working ranch?—but of course he didn’t. That touch of skin set off something inexplicable inside him.

It always did. That was the problem. Words could be ignored and the sound of her laughter pressed deep down inside him, but one graze of his fingertips on her body and he was lost.

“I’ve always wanted to have sex on a pile of hay,” Dawn said, calling his bluff. She arched into his touch, allowing his hand to slide up her back. He encountered nothing but soft skin and the gentle curve of her spine, both of which promised more of the same, should he give in and really cop a feel. Which was tempting for a lot of reasons, including the fact that Dawn was stacked in ways that seemed wholly against nature. “Surely there must be one or two of those in the barn we could try?”

“There are.” He brought his lips close to her ear, though he was careful not to press against the gently pounding pulse below it. The moment the kissing started, all other bets were off—including the one that had a Great Dane puppy at their feet and a golden retriever puppy napping under Phoebe’s desk. That was the one thing he knew for sure. Dawn had come out here with the sole intention of luring him into lowering his defenses, in using her incredible body and the promise of what it could do to get her own way. She wanted Methuselah, and she’d stop at nothing to get her.

Well, two could play that way. In fact, he was becoming something of an expert at this particular game.

“We could slip in there right now, and no one would know where we are,” he murmured. Dawn arched her neck to give him better access, but he didn’t kiss, didn’t touch. Only teased. “I could throw you into the biggest stack of hay and rip this tiny scrap of a shirt from your body.”

A slight, guttural sound indicated how much she liked the direction this conversation was going. Typical. With Dawn, the anticipation, the clandestine nature of their meetings, was half the fun.

Who was he kidding? Where that woman was concerned, it was probably all the fun.

“No one will think to look for us for hours,” he added, still in that low, crooning voice. “It’ll just be me and you, our bodies slick with sweat.”

Dawn’s hips pressed against his, her arms coiling around his neck so that her entire body could melt against him. This was how she always struck, coiled and soft and yielding.

So he struck back.

“Well, that and the snakes.”

Instead of pulling back, Dawn only laughed and clasped her hands tighter around his neck. “Good thing I happen to like snakes,” she said. Her mouth brushed lightly against his, fluttering like a pair of butterfly wings. “Like the alligators, they make such nice shoes. Purses too.”

Even though Adam’s body thrummed with anticipation, burning hot in all the places it touched hers, he kept his tone level. “We also get the occasional badger, even though they’re pretty rare in these parts. Rats are almost a certainty.”

“Why, Adam Dearborn, are you trying to sweet-talk me?”

No, dammit. He was trying to do the exact opposite. Why did this woman refuse to act like a normal human being? She should run at the mention of rats, not press her hips against his until he ached.

“I’m just making sure you know what you’re getting into, that’s all,” he said. His voice sounded strained to his own ears. “Things can get pretty nasty out here in the wilderness.”

“That’s funny,” she purred. “So can I.”

This is the third book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you start at the beginning as this is an ongoing story of three sisters and their journey towards a happily ever after and its impact on them all as a family and joint business owners. Dawn is the one left at home now and she has had a lot of the care of the trainee service dogs left to her.

I absolutely love how we discover the reality of the state of play (shall we call it that?!) between Dawn and Adam. It is really a fun twist and really fitted them – both very nervous of not being enough, when in fact they were exactly right together. I enjoyed how Adam recognised the amazing talent Dawn had to brighten everyone's day – her way of seeing things and giving those around her a positive outlook is really impressive. Even when he discovers how the golden retriever puppy (let's not argue about her name!) came to be in his care, he recognises her actions were for the right reasons.

So much goodness, so much humour, and such a perfect outcome in the end. Very enjoyable read, thank you Lucy Gilmore.

I have been patiently waiting for Dawn's book! Book #3 in the Forever Home series is about the middle sister, the firecracker, Dawn. One of three sisters that run Puppy Promise, a training program for service dogs, the first two books feature the other sisters and I recommend reading them if you haven't already.

As I said, I've been waiting for Dawn's book and couldn't wait to meet the dog in here. The story starts out quickly, with Dawn swooping in to steal a mistreated puppy. This was the highlight of the story for me. This is the Dawn that I was expecting to see.

As per usual, the dogs were fantastic. I would go as far to say they stole all the scenes they were in.

The romantic storyline between Dawn and Adam was okay. I didn't feel the passion or lust.

I will say that I loved Bea and she may have been my favorite character in the book.

Overall, this story was cute, but I was expecting a lot more from it.

ACE

“Is my brother a deal-breaker?” he asked.

I sucked in my bottom lip, feeling torn. I wanted him like crazy. I’d had plenty of time to feel attraction for guys, to get a bit curious and wonder... and my body was fully down to fuck, regardless of the fact I’d never been with a guy. But fucking Benji was a big deal. Jeremy expected me to protect his virtue, not throw him on the bed and ravish him.

“Ace?”

I let out an unsteady breath. “He should be. But fuck, Benji, I really like you.”

“You can never lie to me again.”

“I won’t.”

“And you’ll let me handle my brother,” he said.

I parted my lips to object, but he was full of fire — not anger this time, but something else, something more enticing — and I couldn’t find the words. He must have seen the answer in my eyes. He tilted forward, and I met him for a long overdue kiss.

He was sweet, both tentative and eager as his lips parted under mine. Despite leading our conversation, he let me take over as soon as our mouths connected. I savored the soft feel of his lips, the hitch in his breathing as my tongue met his, the small sound of surrender as the kiss deepened.

“Whoa,” he said, voice filled with wonder, when I pulled back for a breath. His green eyes were bright, his cheeks rosy with a blush. He was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.

“Yeah?” I murmured, feeling a bit of my old ego restored at his reaction. “Just wait.”

I took his mouth again, and this time he met me with more confidence, pushing his tongue against mine, clutching at my shoulders.

The kiss grew wet and desperate.

I grabbed his head, holding him in place to better devour him, and he pushed his hands under my shirt, feeling up my stomach to my chest. When his fingers grazed my nipples, I shivered. When he raked his nails over my abs, I moaned and thrust my hips against his. I felt his hardness behind his zipper.

Fuck yes.

It sent a thrill through me. He wanted me, and I didn’t have to question it. He was hard, just like me. Male, just like me. It was strangely erotic, knowing he was aching in exactly the same way I was.

I pushed him onto the bed, loving the feel of him pinned under me. When we needed air, I moved my lips to the creamy skin of his neck. God, I loved his skin, so fucking pale and soft.

His fingers were tangled in my hair, holding me against him, as he thrust his hips up. I could feel his cock jabbing my stomach, and I didn’t care one fucking bit. I thought maybe I’d be weirded out, like maybe I’d need to adjust to having a guy under me instead of a girl, but it didn’t matter.

Benji felt right; he felt fucking great.

Benji has had a crush on Ace (his older brother's best friend) for as long as he could remember. When he goes to college in hopes of being there with his brother. unforeseen circumstances have him attending college without his brother but with Ace. Ace told Jeremy he'd watch out for his younger brother.

Benji has always noticed Ace but suddenly Ace starts noticing Benji in a way he never expected. Ace is questioning his sexuality and knows once he can't get Benji off his mind, he is definitely bisexual. When Ace shows Benji any kind of attention, Benji thinks it's just in a "big brother" way. Ace wants to see Benji smile and the best way to do that is without Benji knowing it's him but his secret admirer.

I enjoyed watching how this played out. These characters had me invested in their relationship. It was sweet and oh so hot at times. It was the perfect mix.

This is a new to me author and I wasn't disappointed. I will be looking for more from this author.

Veronica☆☆☆☆☆
The final installment of the Lancaster Falls Trilogy is go gripping. Solving the mystery of the killer of the 30-year-old remains becomes even more pressing as prominent members of the town are being violently murdered and their long-held secrets exposed. The tension builds bit by bit, our heroes are in danger, and eventually all the pieces fall into place and our killer is revealed. And all I can say is I did NOT see that coming. And I love that I didn't guess who the killer was and that I was on edge as I turned the pages. So good.

Among the fantastic mystery/suspense story there is also a lovely romance. FBI agent Lucas comes to town to assist in the murder investigation and stays at Josh's motel. The attraction between them is instant, and sexy glances and late-night conversations turn into kisses and more. With so much going on in the town they have each other to turn to for support.

Once again, RJ Scott mixes murder and romance and comes up with a great story. While I was excited to get to the end to find out who did it, I was sad that my time with people of Lancaster Falls was over, but I know this is a series that will be on my re-read list.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆☆
This has been a really excellent series – you absolutely have to read it in order, or truly you will not get the underlying story at all! Thankfully, things finally come together in this installment, and RJ Scott has really come up with a complex and intriguing mystery, with a rather mind-blowing reveal at the end. I found it to be peeled away at exactly the right pace, and with each layer giving another possibility, until finally we get to the heart of the evil that has been going on all too long in Lancaster Falls!

The romance is also very enjoyable, with FBI special agent Lucas falling for hotel owner, father, and Oops! white hat hacker, Josh. Lots of complications with this being anything more than a short-term fling, and yet it is a very sweet and smooth journey most of the way. We also get to catch up with the relationships which formed in earlier books, and see how all their lives have improved thanks to having a stable and loving home life.

I would definitely recommend this series, and now you can read it all, cliffhanger free.

Sarah☆☆☆☆
3.5 stars

This is a satisfying conclusion to the Lancaster Falls Trilogy. The third book focuses on hotel owner Josh and FBI agent Lucas. With the body count rising in Lancaster Falls, Lucas provides Sawyer’s team with the federal assistance necessary to finally get the answers the town needs.

I will admit that I was a little bit reluctant to continue with this trilogy after the slightly bizarre events in the second book. The third book is only slightly more plausible, but it is an exciting read that does manage to provide readers with closure. This is probably the goriest book of the three with grizzly new murders complicating Sawyer’s cold case investigation. The pieces do eventually fit together but my reactions remain mixed. Oddly, the whodunnit is both too obvious and not completely credible. It’s ultimately a satisfying, suspenseful read – if readers don’t think too hard about various details.

I always struggle a bit with romantic suspense – the idea of two leads falling for each other while chasing a serial murderer is always a little bit difficult for me to process. I did enjoy the romance in this book. Josh and Lucas make sense together, and while the focus of the book remains on the investigation, there are enough heated moments between these two that readers will be cheering them on to their happily ever after.

With the clock ticking, A.L. and Rena are under extreme pressure as they discover their instincts are correct: all is not as it seems. A.L. and Rena are back again. This time, a child has gone missing and nobody seems to know who to believe, who to mistrust, and where the little girl could be.

The police procedure in this book is great. It is methodical and well planned. I really enjoyed reading the clues as they came up in the book. You'll want to start guessing right away, you'll want to skip to the end when the clues just don't add up.

Long wrote a very detailed, well developed mystery that will have you second guessing everyone, wanting to believe nobody, and hoping that the little girl is saved in time. I can't wait for more!

Annalise has never truly understood the relationship between her best friend and Deacon. She thought Deacon was kind of an oaf and not sophisticated enough. And with her best friend, Dani, always saying how Deacon was not enough for her, Annalise didn't know any different.

While Deacon and Annalise try to figure out what happened to Dani, they also see a side of each other that neither is expecting. With Dani not talking in her ear, Annalise realizes that Deacon is a nice guy.

With the mystery and the danger close, Deacon will make sure that Annalise is protected.

This is a sweet story with a little action to heighten the story. I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Mary☆☆☆☆
Deacon Black is content with his life, but when someone from the past calls, he has feelings surface that he hasn't felt in years.

Annalise doesn't know what to do when her BFF goes missing. She does know who to call, but making the call is not easy. She has always hated Deacon, even when he was married to her best friend.

Deacon and his men will travel around the world to find Dani, but who is after her and why is a better question. Will they get to her in time? Can they save her before it is too late? Will Deacon and Anna act on the feelings that they are feeling towards each other?

And let's not forget the African Grey parrot that has a potty mouth that will have you laughing out loud.

I really liked the suspenseful aspect of this story, and the romance between Deacon and Anna was steamy and hot. And Dani got what she deserved in the end.

This is a first for me from this author, but I do have several on my to-be-read list and I can't wait to read more from this series.
