Dr. Neuro by Max Monroe Blog Tour

From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of Tapping the Billionaire comes a new three book series of Romantic Comedy standalones.

I’m Dr. Nick Raines.
Brain surgeon and notorious over-thinker, I take the analytical approach with everything, until I can determine the best, carefully calculated plan of action. It’s no shock the producers of the popular reality series The Doctor Is In have decided to call me Dr. Neurotic.

Besides my more than full-time job as Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Luke’s Hospital, I’m a single dad and my number one priority is my daughter.

But life had plans to add another priority to my list.
Charlotte Hollis. Outspoken, impulsive, and beautiful, she’s everything I didn’t know I was craving.

She makes me wonder What if?

What if I don’t have to be alone for the rest of my life to give my little girl the father she deserves?

It's a battle—my battle: Head vs. Heart.

With a quick smack and a groan, I silenced the alarm and rolled over to my stomach to shove my head into the fluff of my pillow.

“Oh my God,” I grumbled.

Even the sound of my own voice was grating.

Great, I thought. This should make work interesting.

I grabbed my phone off of my nightstand, rolled back onto my back, and typed out a quick message.

Me: So, apparently, you’re a sadist.

A reply popped up nearly immediately.

Charlotte: Wimp.

Me: I’m actually sore.

Charlotte: It takes time to acclimate to the dance life. You’ve got good moves, though. Be proud, soldier, be proud.

Me: Oh, so I suppose you’re completely fine?

Charlotte: Yep. ;)

Me: I kind of hate you.

Charlotte: That wears off. Trust me. Pretty soon you won’t be able to live without me.

Another fantastic book from Max Monroe. This is the final installment in the St. Luke's Docuseries and I'm crying because I fell in love with every character in this series.

We first met Dr. Nick Raines in the Billionaire Bad Boys series as he is the father of Lexi, Winnie's daughter. He was portrayed as a total absentee father who sends checks and visits occasionally. However, Nick finally pulled his head out of his..., well, let's just say he got his act together and is now a part of Lexi's life.

He meets Charlotte – a head hunter who's out to get him to accept a position in California – and is intrigued. Charlotte also has had her ups and downs, including leaving a guy at the altar 12 years before.

As their relationship grows, you can see how much Nick cares for Charlotte but also how much he is truly grateful to have a place in Lexi's life. Even to the point that he's willing to give up Charlotte to protect his relationship with his daughter.

Luckily for us, Winnie is the smart one of this bunch and gives Nick the kick he needs to make things right.

Crossing the Line by Kimberly Kincaid

Cocky farmer Eli Cross plays twice as hard as he works. When his latest stunt drums up a heap of negative PR for the family farm, he grudgingly agrees to play host to an ambitious New York City photographer. Her feature on Cross Creek could be just the ticket to show the country what the Cross brothers do best… which is more problem than solution for Eli.

Scarlett Edwards-Stewart has photographed everything from end zones to war zones. She’s confident she can ace this one little story to help her best friend’s failing magazine. At least, she would be if her super-sexy host wasn’t so tight lipped. But the more Scarlett works with Eli, the more she discovers that he’s not who he seems. Can his secret bring them closer together? Or will it be the very thing that tears them apart?

This is the second book in the series, and if you read Crossing Hearts, you will be very happy to know that it is Eli's turn to get his story and all being well happily ever after, too.

When we met the Cross Creek clan last time around, we found Hunter to be a man who worked hard on his family farm and when injured, he was super unhappy. Well, his younger brother Eli is not so wedded to farm life, and has secretly been planning for a different future... if only he could be honest with his family. The arrival of a sexy photographer from New York and the need to win a foolish bet work together to force his hand. As the story unfolds, we get an insight into farming life, and into the thinking of a couple who have no memory of maternal love. It was fun to have Scarlett find out how good at being romantic Eli turned out to be – I did wish we had seen something of their future and her taking charge, but maybe that will be mentioned in future installments.

A big family secret is revealed towards the end of the book, which will be an interesting feature in the next book, as must surely be the recently widowed Kate. I love it when there are hints of what is to come!

Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
Eli Cross is trying fit in, both with his family and on his family's farm. He loves the farm but he knows he doesn't belong there full time. His love of writing exceeds his love of the land, so what's holding him back from fulfilling his dream? His love for his family.

Scarlet Edwards-Stewart is a modern day gypsy. She’s an exceptional photographer with a base in New York, but she's on assignment more often than not. Taking a month-long shoot in the hinterlands of South Carolina will be the longest she's been in one spot in a very long time; however, as a favor for a friend, she's more than willing to tackle the assignment.

As Scarlet and Eli work together to promote Cross Creek Farms, their friendship grows into something more with each learning to appreciate the strengths of the other.

The twist at end gives the reader an added hook into the rest of the series.

Wanton by Erica Chilson

Orbiting one another’s lives, yet never intersecting, a clandestine meeting finally pushes Opal Fischer within Ginny Jamison’s path.

In the past, in the present, and in the future, both women make a major impact on the lives of the Blended Family. They worry more about their loved ones than themselves, pushing their needs and wants to the back-burner. They themselves are the only ones in their own path to true happiness, by holding onto the debilitating wounds of the past and refusing to let go of their visions of the future.

Opal’s lifelong adage: the sin isn’t in the wanting; it’s in the taking. Will Ginny be able to make Opal realize the sin is actually in the regret of never taking what you want, what you so rightfully deserve?

Wanton is a full-length Contemporary Romance novel featuring the slowly budding relationship between two females.

Warning: a glimpse into future Blended Series books, with sensually erotic scenes featuring f/f & f/f/m.

This installment of the Blended series was sweet, touching, insightful, and overall a necessary addition to the series!

We've met both characters, Ginny and Opal, in previous books, but this story is dedicated to them.

I have to admit, I'm not much for f/f erotica – but this transcends just erotica! This is a beautiful story about overcoming obstacles – mostly self-imposed – finding yourself, and being comfortable in your own skin. Together these women are able to appreciate each other while learning to accept themselves. (PS: the erotic scenes are HOT!)

A few of the other characters' storylines were touched upon, and advanced – while others were just "toyed" with to keep our anticipation ramped up (in true Erica Chilson fashion).

Veronica☆☆☆☆☆
One of the many things I love about the Blended series is the diversity. Wanton gives the story of Opal and Ginny, two women in their early 40s. Opal is a divorced mother and a lesbian with no experience with a woman. Ginny, on the other hand, has plenty of experience but has had no luck finding long term love. This is a romance with two adults who have life experience but aren't perfect. Even though they have issues to work through, their connection is strong and it felt like they could handle whatever came their way.

Part of the fun of this series is the cast of characters and getting to see them grow and learning about them all through the series. Ginny's thirst for gossip helps us learn more about what is going on in Fairport. Opal's friendship with Robin gives us more juice about what is going on between him, Auggie, and Isis and left me hanging for more.

I'll confess, however, that the highlight of this book for me is Sage Fischer, Opal's teenage son. Sage is openly gay, outspoken, intelligent, and strong. Sage's friendship with Weston Mason is fraught with difficulties because of their age difference, even if West looks like a full-grown adult, he is too young for Sage. I soaked up every word about Sage and West. I just couldn't get enough. I'm dying to read more about them and know I'll have a wait before we get the full story.

Sweet, emotional, funny, and at times very hot, Wanton is great book. If you haven't started the Blended series you are missing out. I can't recommend these books highly enough.

Erica Chilson does not write in the 3rd person, wanting her readers to be her characters. Therefore, writing a bio about herself, is uncomfortable in the extreme.

Born, raised, and here to stay, the Wicked Writer is a stump-jumper, a ridge-runner. Hailing from North Central Pennsylvania, directly on the New York State border; she loves the changes in seasons, the humid air, all the mountainous forest, and the gloomy atmosphere.

Introverted, but not socially awkward, Erica prides herself on thinking first and filtering her speech. There are days she doesn’t speak at all. If it wasn’t for the fact that she lives with her parents, giving her a sense of reality, she would be a hermit, where the delivery man finds her months after expiration.

Reading was an escape, a way to leave a not-so pleasant reality behind. Reading lent Erica the courage she gathered from the characters between the pages to long for a different life. Writing was an instrument of change, evolving Erica into the woman she is today- a better, more mature, more at peace thinker.

Erica has a wicked mind, one she pours out into her creations. Her filter doesn’t allow all of it to erupt, much to her relief. Sarcastic, with a very dark, perverse sense of humor, Erica puts a bit of herself into every character she writes.

Morgan is loving being a firefighter. He works hard, takes risks, and would do anything for his co-workers. He is not much of a family person, but when he heads into a fire and sees the devastation on the family's faces, he can't help but feel something.

Richie is struggling. He was injured while being a Marine and he hasn't really come back from the war. He feels stuck. When he is caught in a fire and becomes disoriented, he thinks that his time is finally up.

Morgan and Richie were childhood friends and despite both being "different," Morgan had no choice but to move away. They never saw each other again until Morgan saved Richie from that horrible fire.

When fires begin to happen all over the place, Richie and Morgan hunt down whomever wants to hurt military men or families.

This is a sweet story of second chances, believing in yourself, and learning to take calculated risks for love. The relationship is fairly organic and the chemistry, while not super burning hot, is good chemistry that allows for a decent relationship.

Triggers: Attempted Rape

This is a very short novella about Zara, Tobias, and Garrett. The men have loved Zara for a long time and will do anything to keep her.

Zara has found herself in a loveless marriage and when it comes to an end, Garrett and Tobias take the place of her abusive and horrible husband.

It's pretty much a scene of the three of them and dialogue of them figuring out how they will move forward. Other than that, there was not much development and we do not get to see this threesome in the future.

If you want some hot scenes then this is your novella.

Mary Jo☆☆☆
A quick read that tells the story of how three people realize that a partnership between them will work out for the best for everyone.

Zara is in a loveless marriage and is trying to find a way out without losing everything. Her only oasis during this time is her relationships with Garrett and Tobias. Each knows about the other and their jealousy is threatening her sanity.

When her husband gives her the divorce papers she's been wanting and tosses her out of the house, she goes to a hotel in an effort to do some clear thinking about her future. Garrett and Tobias don't want to give her time to leave them and decide to work together to make Zara happy.

Permanent Ink by Avon Gale & Piper Vaughn

At twenty-three, Poe Montgomery is going nowhere. He still lives in his father’s basement and spends most of his time tagging with his friends. When an arrest lands him in debt, Poe accepts the front desk job at Permanent Ink, the tattoo shop owned by his father’s best friend, Jericho McAslan. Jericho is nearly twice Poe’s age, but with his ink and prematurely graying hair, he quickly takes the starring role in Poe’s hottest fantasies.

Jericho is known for his ability to transform poorly designed tattoos into works of art, but he was once as aimless and misdirected as Poe. Wanting to pay it forward the way someone once did for him, Jericho makes Poe his apprentice and is determined to keep things strictly professional. Easier said than done when Poe makes his interest—and his daddy kink—abundantly clear.

Jericho can’t resist Poe or their intense chemistry for long. But between the age gap, tension with Poe’s father, and Poe’s best friend calling him a sellout, they’ll need to ensure they’re both on the same page before they can rewrite their rocky start into something permanent.

M/M Romance, some Daddy Dom scenes
Triggers: Click HERE to see Avid Reader’s review on Goodreads for trigger warnings.

This is a story about friendship, love, second chances, and figuring out who you are.

Poe is kind of a slacker. He lives with his dad and goes out at night with his best friend, Blue, to tag (vandalize) the neighborhood with graffiti. He gets caught one night and his dad is at his wits end. Landon is trying to make Poe see that there is more to life than tagging and doing nothing.

Landon is best friends with Jericho and when Poe is picked up again, Landon goes to Jericho just to vent. However, someone once gave Jericho the kick in the pants and leg up that he needed to get out of the bad lifestyle he was living and get into tattooing. Jericho offers that same chance for Poe.

What follows is Poe and Jericho figuring out whether or not they should act on their attraction. They have good, developed chemistry and when Daddy Dom comes out to play, Poe almost wets himself.

In this story, you're hit with growing up, the realization that you might need help, seeing who is a true friend, and learning to love without reservation. I can't wait to see what the next books hold.

Sarah☆☆☆☆
This is a sexy, steamy read about a tattoo artist who hires his friend’s son, and then, despite his best efforts, falls hard for the much younger man.

Daddy kinks aren’t really my thing but the kink is pretty negligible in this book. Honestly, silver fox Jeremiah is hot enough that I’d play with him any way he wanted. I wasn’t quite as drawn to Poe. He is very young and while he’s adorable, it’s an exhausting new puppy sort of adorable – fun to play with but far too much work to ever consider taking home. He is way too needy and still making stupid teenage decisions. And seriously, he lives in his father’s basement.

My reaction to Poe aside, these two are very hot together and there are some wonderfully steamy scenes in this book. Boss and new hire, kid dating dad’s best friend – there is a delightfully illicit charge to Poe and Jeremiah’s relationship that I really loved.

I loved learning more about tattooing in this story. I found Poe’s apprenticeship fascinating and I’m now following even more tattoo artists on Instagram. Alternately, I couldn’t quite get into the graffiti aspect of this story. I’m probably just too old and too mainstream to get it but it just served to make Poe seem like more of a clueless brat (and not in a good subby sort of way).

I’m still not sure about Avon Gale and Piper Vaughn writing together. For me, Gale is an immediate autobuy while Vaughn’s writing is sometimes a bit too fluffy for me. This collaboration works well but it is missing the witty, sarcastic dialogue I love in Gale’s books and it isn’t quite as edgy as some of her writing.

Avon Gale

AVON GALE wrote her first story at the age of seven, about a “Space Hat” hanging on a rack and waiting for that special person to come along and purchase it—even if it was a bit weirder than the other hats. Like all of Avon’s characters, the space hat did get its happily ever after—though she’s pretty sure it was with a unicorn. She likes to think her vocabulary has improved since then, but the theme of quirky people waiting for their perfect match is still one of her favorites.

Avon grew up in the southern United States and now lives with her very patient husband in a liberal Midwestern college town. By day, Avon is a hair stylist who loves her job, her clients, and the opportunity to spend her time being creative and making people feel happy and look fabulous.

When she’s not writing, she’s either doing some kind of craft project that makes a huge mess, reading, watching horror movies, listening to music, or yelling at her favorite hockey team to get it together already. Avon is always up for a road trip, adores Kentucky bourbon, thinks nothing is as stress relieving as a good rock concert, and will never say no to candy.

At one point, Avon was the mayor of both Jazzercise and Lollicup on Foursquare. This tells you basically all you need to know about her as a person.

Romance author, tea drinker, book junkie, tattoo enthusiast, typewriter collector, flirt. Lover of hedgehogs, piercings, tattoos, and hockey.

Piper Vaughn wrote her first love story at eleven and never looked back. Since then, she’s known that writing in some form was exactly what she wanted to do. A reader at the core, Piper loves nothing more than getting lost in a great book—fantasy, young adult, romance, she loves them all (and has a two-thousand-book library to prove it!). She grew up in Chicago, in an ethnically diverse neighborhood, and loves to put faces and characters of every ethnicity in her stories, so her fictional worlds are as colorful as the real one. Above all, she believes that everyone needs a little true love in their life…even if it’s only in a book.

Ace and Dakota are an explosive couple.

Dakota is a strong, knows-what-she-wants type of woman and, despite her bravado and spunk, she does have some insecurities that you only catch glimpses of. Her best friend, Chloe, is marrying a hunk of a guy and Dakota is now part of the family. The one brother that she hasn't met yet, Ace, is mysterious and elusive. But, putting him aside, Dakota knows that her days as a cheerleader are numbered and she wants to follow in her brothers' footsteps – she wants to become a pilot. When she signs up for lessons, she gets much more than she bargained for.

Ace has lived the past several years of his life as someone else. In order to protect his family from his career, he pushed them away. Being an operative has its drawbacks, but he loves what he does and he is very good at it. When his case completes, he is injured and reeling. He finds himself once again surrounded by his family, which is both comforting and slightly uncomfortable.

When Ace sees Dakota, he's instantly intrigued. She is confident, doesn't take his lip, and knows what she wants. Dakota is just as taken with Ace's charm and good looks. They follow a bumpy road to romance and there is a lot of action. This was fast paced, fun, and had some great development.

I hope we get to see more of this family.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth book in the series and links to a previous series of Ms. Anne's too. So, anyone who has read one of these will know... if Sherman is around, then expect some serious fun as a member of his family is enticed into love! It was an inspired idea, and there are clear hints that more young men are about to benefit from his interference in the future!

There have been hints about Ace and his lifestyle in previous books, so it was fascinating to find out just what he had been doing and why. Inevitably it is a worthy reason, and given the nature of his brothers, his tension is unexpected, but they are supportive. He doesn't get it to start with, but by the end has understood that his family do nothing but support him, and is finally ready to embrace that.

Dakota is a really fun character, and thanks to her close friendship with Nick's Chloe, we know of her calm and optimistic outlook. She is undoubtedly just what Ace needs, but he is rightfully fearful of what he brings with him from his past. Her secret shocks him, but thankfully he forgives her approach and they move forward together, swept along with bigger emotions than they ever expected.

I loved the flying lessons and the sexual tension which affects them both. The drama was well done, giving credence to Ace's fears, and yet proving to him how his brothers still want to be there for him.

This whole series has been both fun and intense. Thank you, Ms. Anne.
