Ace and Dakota are an explosive couple.

Dakota is a strong, knows-what-she-wants type of woman and, despite her bravado and spunk, she does have some insecurities that you only catch glimpses of. Her best friend, Chloe, is marrying a hunk of a guy and Dakota is now part of the family. The one brother that she hasn't met yet, Ace, is mysterious and elusive. But, putting him aside, Dakota knows that her days as a cheerleader are numbered and she wants to follow in her brothers' footsteps – she wants to become a pilot. When she signs up for lessons, she gets much more than she bargained for.

Ace has lived the past several years of his life as someone else. In order to protect his family from his career, he pushed them away. Being an operative has its drawbacks, but he loves what he does and he is very good at it. When his case completes, he is injured and reeling. He finds himself once again surrounded by his family, which is both comforting and slightly uncomfortable.

When Ace sees Dakota, he's instantly intrigued. She is confident, doesn't take his lip, and knows what she wants. Dakota is just as taken with Ace's charm and good looks. They follow a bumpy road to romance and there is a lot of action. This was fast paced, fun, and had some great development.

I hope we get to see more of this family.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the fourth book in the series and links to a previous series of Ms. Anne's too. So, anyone who has read one of these will know... if Sherman is around, then expect some serious fun as a member of his family is enticed into love! It was an inspired idea, and there are clear hints that more young men are about to benefit from his interference in the future!

There have been hints about Ace and his lifestyle in previous books, so it was fascinating to find out just what he had been doing and why. Inevitably it is a worthy reason, and given the nature of his brothers, his tension is unexpected, but they are supportive. He doesn't get it to start with, but by the end has understood that his family do nothing but support him, and is finally ready to embrace that.

Dakota is a really fun character, and thanks to her close friendship with Nick's Chloe, we know of her calm and optimistic outlook. She is undoubtedly just what Ace needs, but he is rightfully fearful of what he brings with him from his past. Her secret shocks him, but thankfully he forgives her approach and they move forward together, swept along with bigger emotions than they ever expected.

I loved the flying lessons and the sexual tension which affects them both. The drama was well done, giving credence to Ace's fears, and yet proving to him how his brothers still want to be there for him.

This whole series has been both fun and intense. Thank you, Ms. Anne.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the third book in the series, and although you could read it as a standalone, it does follow on from the previous books and some strands flow through them all.

I have to admit that this is not my favourite of the series, but it is still a good read. Nick does not come across as a standup guy, at least where women are concerned in the beginning, although he definitely improves. Chloe is also a slightly odd character, but given her upbringing, that is not entirely surprising. I found it difficult to believe that she was so put together given her brother's recent death, and who she believed to be responsible. The descriptions of the accident both early on and later were really evocative of how it must feel to undertake a Coast Guard rescue. They gave insight into Nick's real character and his grief over the loss of his crew.

As a couple, they worked well and were clearly well matched. The chemistry was undeniable, and as Chloe softened her views and rethought what she had been programmed to believe, their potential to have a relationship definitely improved.

I am very much looking forward to Ace's story – the mystery that has been waiting in the wings for a while!

Turbulent Desires is another in the long running series of meddling fathers and their friends finding partners for their children. I have read most of them and enjoyed them, and this was no exception.

Lindsey was subject to a brutal attack in the hospital where she worked, and a year later is still seriously limited by her fears. Living in the cabin in the garden of her best friend, Stormy and husband Cooper, she is hiding away. At their wedding she had a fling with Maverick, Cooper's brother, but has no intention of revisiting that scenario, even though he is still in her mind. When Sherman (matchmaker) decides that they should, well as a reader we know all bets are off, and sit back for the ride!

It is a lovely story of a man doing all he can to help a woman overcome her fears, and in the process find a love he cannot deny. And a woman whose body recognises that he is safe, long before her brain catches up. It makes for a fun read, with a lot of sexual chemistry, but also lots of friendship and care.

I would recommend that you read the books in order, as they follow on, but this is definitely also a story that can stand on its own.

The set up in this book ensures that we really, really dislike the Armstrong brothers – really effectively! It takes a lot to get back from that start, but slowly the reader is reeled into the story, and as with all readers, there is hope of a positive outcome. Overall I think that is successful, although it took a lot for me to turn my feelings around. It certainly wasn't as quick to engage me as the Anderson brother series.

I enjoyed the setting, and the hobby which Cooper turns into a success – always helpful that he had a huge trust fund to start it off! That he succumbed, eventually, to the charms of a woman, much as his father hoped, is fun to watch. The six-year gap, which gives Cooper time to grow up is absolutely essential, as those first scenes are difficult to forget. Stormy brings out his good side, once she gets over his lack of recognition, and the interplay is fun and the chemistry real. Once Uncle Sherman, and his matching making friend get involved, then we are on familiar territory.

Sweet, with a redemptive happily ever after, and easy reading. Curious to see how the other brothers meet their match!
