Distraction by Nicole Edwards Blog Tour

Time doesn’t always heal a broken heart. Sometimes the only thing it does is fill the darkness with more shadows, more pain.

Dylan Thomas has spent the past decade living in the shadows, mourning the loss of his wife, his best friend, his very reason for breathing. He long ago accepted that he would never feel again, that he was damned to a world without light, without hope. That was the day the bottle won, and he gave himself over to the darkness.

Until the one night that rocked his brittle, crumbling world on its axis. She told him what they shared was simply a distraction, a way to forget for a little while. It would’ve been, except the tiny glimpse of how it feels to live again, to feel again, gives him the strength he needs to pull himself up by his boot straps. But sobriety comes one day at a time, and three years later may be three years too late.

Angie☆☆☆☆
I love this series, you don’t need to read others in the series to read this one, but you do miss some back story if you don’t. This book deals with depression, which the author herself has. I will say at times I found myself skimming the book, it was too wordy at times; I know why it was too wordy, but it was just too much for my liking. I like more dialogue in my books. I don’t like all the banter inside someone’s head, especially when it is the same thing over and over again. Again, I know this is part of the story and the disease being discussed, just not my thing. Once Dylan and Sarah got their lives back on track and started to live, the book was very good. There wasn’t much once you got past all the depression, just a lot of sex. I love sex and the sex scenes were awesome, that was actually the only time I felt the characters connect, other than that, I didn’t feel a connection between them. The scene with Chris and Tristian was HOT. This is the last Club Destiny book. I am sad to see the series end, but I am looking forward to the spin-off series with Trent.

Characters: Well written
Sex: Yes, there is a M/F/M/M scene
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Yes
Genre: Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

And while police work has its thrills, her gorgeous new boss is what really gets her pulse pounding. Too bad he’s nothing but a distraction. Avid Reader☆☆☆☆
M/F Romance, hints at BDSM
Triggers: Friends with benefits, some power exchange

This book was full of friends with benefits and romance, but it's not your typical romance. I think that's why it worked for me so well. I normally don't like insta-romances, but given the past encounter between Joss and Maddox, I think that this works because it spans time in a smooth fashion.

I liked how Joss was able to handle the situation, somewhat, without turning in to a giddy teenage girl when she encounters Maddox again. Despite her workplace situation, she knows what she can handle and goes for it. There is no question that she wants to do a good job, no question that she's still attracted to Maddox and no question that she'll end up getting hurt. Joss goes in to that relationship with her eyes wide open. For goodness sake – he's known as the heartbreaker!

Maddox is kind of hard for me to figure out. He doesn't do relationships – boasts about how he never goes back for seconds. Even his friend Grey doesn't quite understand why his good friend Maddox doesn't do relationships. I loved Grey's mom - and hope that Grey gets his own story.

The heat and chemistry between Maddox and Joss is electric and they have some explosive scenes. I liked how Maddox took control, but wasn't controlling. Not sure if that makes complete sense, but he's dominating without being domineering. I liked the relationship that Joss and Maddox developed and can't wait for more on these characters.

Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
For a year, Joss hasn't been able to get the hot, dominant stud who f**ked her in a club's bathroom stall off her mind. It was the best sex she ever had and hasn't been able to find anyone since that has even coming close to making her want to take a chance. Granted, she's been a little busy with school and the police academy, but she knows that she's going to compare every man from now on to him.

Unfortunately for her, when she does run across him again, it’s in the worst possible of places. Her station house. Yep, he's her new boss and he's sexy as ever.

Maddox can't believe the one woman who stood out from the crowd of women he's been with over the past year is now under his command. Problem is, he wants her and that goes against his rules. Deciding that rules are made to be broken, he approaches Joss with a proposition.

The chemistry between Joss and Maddox is off the charts and their unconventional approach to their relationship is refreshing. I can only hope there are more books because Filthy Dirty Love just became my favorite thing.

Kris☆☆☆☆
I've read a few books by Stacey Kennedy and enjoyed them. This is the first in a new series and can certainly be read as a standalone. Maddox is an alpha man, a cop, and a dom. He goes after what he wants and this flirty thing across the bar is in his sights. Joss doesn't do one-night stands, normally, but after a bitter break up and starting the police academy soon, she decides to throw caution to the wind and have a fun fling with the hottie across the bar. Cut to a year later and Maddox realizes the one-night stand that he can’t forget about is one of his new rookies. Joss can’t believe her superior is him, the hottie from her one and only one-night stand! Joss and Maddox really had good chemistry and for me the sexy trysts kept the book readable. I had to do quite a bit of skimming over mundane daily details to get to any real meat in the story. But when the two hooked up for "playtime," I'd be mesmerized! There were a few terms used that didn't really fit in with an American-based story, such as Pint (beer), University (college), and Pub (bar), and the use of these mostly UK-type words somewhat pulled me from the story. This book had some good potential, but got lost in the details for me. Four stars for awesome, steamy scenes!

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is a very enjoyable read – which weaves the ‘one-night stand turns out to be new boss months later’ theme in with a long ago mystery which, when revealed, changes everything. Both Maddox and Joss are very likeable and straightforward people who have issues in their past that make them both keen to keep things physical. And Maddox is definitely the hot alpha male with some very kinky knowledge, which he is all too ready to share with Joss. She, on the other hand, has very limited experience, but is happy to discover her naughty side. It doesn't take much for the reader to see that 'just physical' is an illusion, but getting them to understand that takes a bit longer.

The side characters have some wonderful lines and impact on the story. Grey is a good foil to Maddox, as is his wonderful Mother – and she has some fabulous lines! Likewise, Joss's friend, Emilia, helps the story along for us too. Her father even gets involved when police politics and policy come under question.

Good story, and looking forward to future installments.

Lee’Anne☆☆☆☆
Super steamy story that will suck you in from page one. I couldn’t put it down!

Joss O’Neil has an unforgettable one-night stand with a super-sexy stranger in a bar right before leaving for the police academy. Now, one year later, she’s graduated and beginning work at the Seattle Police Department where she gets the surprise of her life. Her new boss, Maddox Hunt, is her super-sexy one-night stand. Maddox doesn’t do repeats. Ever. But when Joss O’Neil steps back into his life, even though he knows it could end both their careers, he’s seriously considering breaking his no-repeat rule. The two do everything they can to resist one another, but when Joss has an especially difficult call to deal with, Maddox won’t let her handle it on her own and the sparks ignite. But will their careers survive?

Maddox is definitely a swoon worthy alpha male and probably one of my favorite heroes in a long while. Stacey Kennedy does a brilliant job brining this story to life, I felt truly invested in the outcome of the story. You won’t want to put this one down until the very last page. This is bound to be a smoking hot series!

The secret about the Birmingham Rebels is out: With a girl in the middle, two mouth-watering football studs are better than one.

Linebacker Sam Taylor feels like a ticking time bomb. He left the army with emotional wounds as fresh as the scars on his back. Sam’s been living like a monk, but his best friend, defensive lineman King Ulupoka, wants to get him laid. Easy for him to say. The larger-than-life Samoan is a hard-bodied, tribal-tattooed fantasy. Sam agrees, under one condition: King stays to watch.

Trouble is, she can’t decide which one she wants more. Sam is hot, sweet, and vulnerable. Jane’s more than willing to ride him into oblivion. But King’s intense gaze from across the room promises that the best is yet to come.

Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
The Birmingham Rebels series is quickly becoming one of my favorites of all time.

In this installment, you have Sam who is suffering from PTSD and is afraid of hurting others when the dreams/nightmares/flashbacks overwhelm him. He hasn't been with a woman since before he was injured because he doesn't trust himself not to hurt the woman he's with.

His best friend from the Rebels, King, knows that Sam is hurting and is doing his best to help Sam live. His solution to one of Sam's problems – get him laid. And if playing voyeur to ensure Sam doesn't hurt anyone, so be it.

Jane is on a weekend trip with her cousin at the beach when she meets Sam and King. Hitting it off almost immediately, they return to her hotel and talk late into the night. When King explains Sam's issues (much to Sam's dismay), Jane's connection to Sam grows.

When Jane, Sam, and King meet again, sparks continue to fly, not only between Jane and Sam, but between each of them, leading them to find love in unexpected places.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars of hot and horny sexiness!

This is the third in the series – and whilst you don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, you would certainly get some of the tie-ins if you do. Each book centres on a new relationship, but they continue to be mentioned in future books. The writing is smooth, and encourages you to turn just one more page, right up until the end.

We meet our trio on a trip in Atlanta. King has been trying to persuade his ex-Army pal, Sam, to end his dry spell, but Sam is fearful of having a flashback or moment which ruins the experience. King agrees to be there, if the woman agrees. He may have a secret crush on Sam, but he accepts this may be the only way to indulge it. The scenes at the beginning of the book are so effective at giving us an insight into these men, and also Jane, the woman with whom they choose to spend the night.

As the story unfolds, and the three of them meet again, the situation gets complicated to say the least. Jane has a normal, non-complicated past, and never expected to have a non-standard relationship. She does not deny the chemistry between them, but she is not sure that she can go as far as be open about their relationship. The shifting of hurt emotions between the three of them is affected by their family, their roles, and their current responsibilities – and gives us a very rich story. I loved her mother's intervention in particular, but there are many side characters who influence them and their behaviour.

There is a good mix of sport, the issues arising from Sam's time in the military, Jane's conventional past, and their hot, chemistry laden adventure together. I can't wait to see how things move forward once we get the next installment. There were all manner of hints as to whose turn it might be next, so I am very curious to find out!

Sarah☆☆☆☆
This story is fun, sweet, and incredibly steamy. I love friends-to-lovers romances and the bromance between Sam and King is wonderful. Great characterisation and a wonderful playfulness make it more than just erotica.

I loved Sam as a famous NFL player and military veteran too anxious about his PTSD to trust himself with a woman without King’s help. I loved Jane’s refreshing “what the hell” approach to the offer of a one-off three(ish)some. For erotica, these are surprisingly appealing and complex characters that I actually really liked. Sam is still struggling with his past, King is struggling with his attraction to Sam, and Jane is struggling with her instant public notoriety as the two men’s lover.

The plot is relatively simple here. The two men discover their attraction to each other through their attraction to Jane. This story is book three in a series about Sam and King’s team. The two men are part of the kinkiest NFL team in America and their slide from BFF bromance to lovers is sexy and a pleasure to read. As an uninhibited nurse, Jane adds one more fantasy to the mix.

The sex between these three is hot, the chemistry is brilliant, and the characters are well crafted. This is definitely erotica, but it is happy, fun, and slightly angsty erotica and I really enjoyed it.

Lee’Anne☆☆☆☆☆
Book three in the series, however, I read it as a standalone and thought it was great! It’s a super hot, fun read that I couldn’t put down!

Jane Foster has always been the good girl that always follows the rules. She’s a nurse who doesn’t have time for a relationship and her friend, Margo, decides that what Jane needs is to get laid. So Margo drags Jane away from their town to a nearby beach to find Jane a hookup… or two. Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka are best friends who both play football for the Birmingham Rebels. Sam used to be in the military and has a lot of issues resulting from his time deployed, very severe PTSD being the top of the list. King grounds him and keeps him sane. Sam hasn’t been with a woman since returning home from his deployment out of fear that he might have an “episode” and harm the woman. So, King “takes one for the team” by offering to be in the room when Sam “jumps back on the horse.” Now to find a willing woman… enter Jane Foster.

I have to say that this is definitely an original plotline, I found it enjoyable and, at times, hilarious. Though I think Jane and Sam are meant to be more main characters, King was definitely my favorite. His sarcasm and brutal honesty had me cracking up on more than one occasion. This read is definitely a roller coaster, one that I didn’t want to get off. I look forward to book four in this series!

Erica☆☆☆☆
Seven Minutes in Heaven is the third installment of the Desperate Duchesses by the Numbers series. Having read the previous installments, I can say my reading enjoyment was better by knowing the other characters and their stories. However, I believe it would be easy to fall into the story if read as a standalone.

A governess story is always a tasty treat. Reeve becomes the guardian to his little brother and sister after their mother passes away, and he's in need of a governess. Their grandmother wants custody of the children, so he needs to make sure he can prove they are in the best of care when they're with him. This sets the story for how our Hero and Heroine meet.

After being widowed, Eugenia establishes herself by becoming an independent businesswoman. She runs a governess registry, where those looking for a governess come to her to hire one. I connected easily to Eugenia, because she seemed content with her lot in life, happy with the job she had created. She carved her own life for herself, even if her occupation became her sole focus.

Reeve, too, is paving his own path – as the illegitimate son, he worked for his money and felt he needed to 'marry up' in order to fit into the status he believed he should be.

Sparks fly immediately between Reeve and Eugenia. Even though it has the flavor of being insta-love/lust, the angsty feel erases it. Reeve believes Eugenia as lowborn because she works for a living. He wants her, but in his mind she doesn't fit the type of woman or lifestyle he thinks he should have. He's up for an affair with a widow, but has no plans of marrying who he believes to be beneath him.

I truly enjoyed Eugenia's character. She was realistic when it came to romance and the love she still felt for her dead husband. She had a healthy dose of self-respect. She was malleable enough to bend to Reeve, but intelligent enough not to unless it was rational. She was a good balance to Reeve's stubbornness. There's plenty of hot and steamy between-the-sheets action between the couple, as well as some humorous banter.

I won't go in-depth in to the plot, because I don't wish to spoil the story. As for pacing, it was a slow start for me, where I struggled to fall into the story. Around the halfway mark, the pacing picked up and I read the last half in one sitting. While the story was most certainly on the predictable side, which is the norm in historical romance, I am a fan of Ms. James's writing style. She always gives just enough detail to set the scene, without bogging it down in the inane. This is also the same when it comes to flowery purple prose – while written in a beautiful flow, it's not over-the-top.

Recommended for historical romance readers and fans of Eloisa James.

Avery Adams has been dealt a rough hand in life. After a kidney transplant almost a year ago, she is living her life to the fullest. Well, as full as her doctors will allow. Being diagnosed with kidney disease, the same disease that took her mother, she found a group of women that has helped her deal with the pain of loss. Avery helps those that can't fulfill their "Bucket List." One thing on the list was to kiss a stranger, so when she met Ty, that was the thing that came to her mind. It was the one thing that her friend Becca wanted to do before she died, so it was in the Living Loud journal.

Ty Donovan was back in the mountain town that he had been running from for 15 years, to help his parents get the lodge ready for the search and rescue training coming up in a few weeks. With his dad forgetting things and his mom covering for him, all Ty seems to do is agitate him more.

When Avery kisses Ty, there is a spark that seems to wake them both up. Can they have a fling for the short time Ty is around? Will Avery be able to make Ty stay? Can they get Ty's dad to see that he needs help?

This is a first for me from this author and I really enjoyed this story, it is cute. I laughed and cried, so be sure to have Kleenex handy. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Well L.A Casey has done it again and Branna was most definitely worth the wait.

It starts off where Ryder finished and I'm not gonna lie, I'm super happy to see them back to the couple they were in Dominic.

As always, the book has laugh out loud moments and also serious moments that L.A Casey blends together perfectly.

I honestly can't wait for Damien; however, I am super sad the series is almost over.

Lee’Anne☆☆☆☆☆
Another brilliant 5-star read by L.A. Casey.

Branna and Ryder are finally happy, and with Branna pregnant, they’re finally planning a honeymoon – two weeks away in a secluded cabin without any of the crazy family around to interrupt their time together. Thankfully, for us readers, their time away is a small part of the book and we get a large dose of the Slater men and their women. Including Damien and Alannah, whose story I cannot wait for. I love the curveballs that are thrown into this story, it’s not like the other books, it has a lot of drama but it’s more about Branna and Ryder’s love for their family – they’re definitely the “mom and dad” of the group and it makes for a fantastic read. Dominic’s book will forever and always be my favorite, but I think that Branna’s novella might be my #2 fav!

I just love this family and can’t get enough of the Slater boys. Already on the edge of my seat waiting for Damien to be released!

Veronica☆☆☆☆
This was fun! I'm not usually a reader of werewolf stories because I struggle to suspend my disbelief. I chose to move out of my comfort zone and read Claimed because I'm a huge fan of Kele Moon. It was worth it.

I loved the opening scene. It has Brandi kidnapped and running for her life, being chased by a pack of werewolves. Scary and dangerous. It soon turned scorching hot when Jason – half werewolf half human – saves Brandi's life and keeps her at his cabin to protect her. The story has some good humour too which had me laughing along. I think the humour is part of the reason I was easily able to enjoy a story I would normally struggle with. Reading this is definitely a guilty pleasure.

I had a ball reading Claimed and I hope we don't have to wait too long to get book two in the Nightwind Pack series because I want more.

Angela☆☆☆☆☆
In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Laurann Dohner fan-girl. I’ve read nearly every one of her books and haven’t read one I didn’t give five stars to because I haven’t found one I wouldn’t read again. In fact, I’ve read the majority of them multiple times… including Claimed; yes, I’ve read it twice already. While I’m not at the same level of fan-girl for Kele Moon, I have read and loved several of her books, all contemporary romances, so she is certainly an author whose releases I keep an eye on. Because of this, I stalk… um, I mean, I follow both Dohner and Moon on Facebook via their author pages and their personal profiles so that I can keep up with news about what they’re working on. Needless to say, when I stumbled upon a post by Moon that she had basically kidnapped one of Dohner’s incomplete and discarded stories, insisting that it had to be shared with the world and that Dohner had told her that she [Moon] would have to finish it in order for that to happen, my stalking activities increased. Okay, okay, I might be exaggerating the contents of the post a bit, but not my stalking. As I said before, I’m a huge fan of Dohner’s writing because I love how she approaches the paranormal and sci-fi worlds she creates, but to have the promise of a new world with a new cast of characters, combined with what is, in essence, a collaborative effort between two talented romance and erotica authors… well, mind blown and stalker level 10 activities engaged. I had to have it. I had to read it. I had to have proof of what I already knew would be true – that I would love it. And I did.

Wasting no time, the authors drop us straight into the action as we join Brandi while she is running for her life, quite literally. While the hero, Jason, does indeed rescue her from a violent death, we come to learn that Brandi is no damsel in distress and she’s no shrinking violet. She is, however, a woman whose entire world has been flipped upside down because she had the misfortune of being kidnapped by men who were actually wolf shifters wanting to use her mutilated body to send a message to the Nightwind Pack – that they were being challenged for their territory. Fortunately for Brandi, her “hunters” had bad information about the movements of the pack and they “hunted” her in an area that did not allow their actions to remain hidden. Enter Jason who, despite being half-human (or perhaps because of it), has no real love for humans, but is outraged that a human female is being hunted, especially on pack lands. Unfortunately for Brandi’s kidnappers, Jason is a pack enforcer and has no problem taking on the trespassers, singlehandedly. What Jason does have a problem with is resisting the tempting female he’s saved, especially when his nose tells him the attraction isn’t one-sided. As any paranormal romance reader would expect, what follows is a short-lived mating dance as shifter instincts take over and Jason finds himself drawn to Brandi in a way he never expected to feel for anyone, let alone a human. What was unexpected (for me, at least) was the catalyst that led to the actual mating – that was a twist I don’t think I’ve encountered before and it certainly made the sexy fun times even hotter than I expected. And considering that both authors excel at writing erotic scenes, I had pretty high expectations. Of course, the mating is not the end of their problems – no matter how good it was – because Brandi still has psychotic wolf shifters after her, Jason has to deal with his alphas’ anger, and they have to figure out how to merge Brandi’s human life with Jason’s shifter life. And there’s lots and lots and lots of fun, laughs, action, and hot sex to be had along the way.

Oh yes, I absolutely loved Dohner and Moon’s collaborative efforts in bringing Claimed to their fans. Even being familiar with both author’s style of writing, I cannot point to what is Dohner’s versus what is Moon’s, which is exactly what you want when two much loved authors write together, a seamless story. Now, knowing what I do about Dohner’s writing habits (per her Facebook posts), I hope that Moon continues to kidnap those babies and nurture them until they’re ready to see the light of day because I need more stories from the Nightwind Pack. I need Desmon’s story. I need Jazz’s story. And I’m really jonesing for Miles’s story. But what I really, really need and am hoping for, is an update on Brandi and Jason as they build their life together. So ladies, please continue to collaborate on these books because Claimed has already secured its spot on my reread list and I need more Dohner & Moon books to keep it company.

Laurann Dohner

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

I'm a full time wife, mother, and author. I've been lucky enough to have spent over two decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I'm addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when your write you can make sure there's always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.

Kele Moon

A freckle faced, redhead born and raised in Hawaii, Kele Moon has always been a bit of a sore thumb and has come to enjoy the novelty of it. She thrives off pushing the envelope and finding ways to make the impossible work in her story telling. With a mad passion for romance, she adores the art of falling in love. The only rules she believes in is that, in love there are no rules and true love knows no bounds.

So obsessed is she with the beauty of romance and the novelty of creating it she’s lost in her own wonder world most of the time. Thankfully she married her own dark, handsome, brooding hero who had infinite patience for her airy ways and attempts to keep her grounded. When she leaves her keys in the refrigerator or her cell phone in the oven he’s usually there to save her from herself. The two of them now reside in Florida with their three beautiful children who make their lives both fun and challenging in equal parts–They wouldn’t have it any other way.
