Clara Dickens wasn’t expecting to find love for the
holidays, but with a little help from Mother Nature, that’s about to change.
Veterinarian Clara Dickens is smitten with rancher Asher Barlow, a good-natured animal lover who also happens to be easy on the eyes. But surely he has his sights set on another. Then again, maybe Asher is just as attracted to Clara, the two of them shy and uncertain. After rescuing a down-on-her-luck pregnant mare, Asher requests Clara’s help. To say thanks, he invites her to a dinner among friends.
One dinner date leads to another as the two find themselves dancing around the subjects of love and attraction. With Christmas right around the corner as well as a big blizzard and the arrival of a special foal, maybe they’ll both receive a much-needed shove in the right direction.

Mary Jo – ☆☆☆
I wanted to like this story more than I did.
Things that didn't work for me: Addressing Clara as "Miss Dickens." She's a vet. I'm not sure how people in other areas address their vet, but in my area, we address them as "Dr." When she was addressed as "Dr" it was spelled out, as in "Doctor Dickens."
What did work for me: The sweet nature of both of the characters, of trying to find love, and of not wanting to be hurt again.
Overall, I felt this story needed more. More passion and communication between the Asher and Clara, and the plot point that I thought would bring them together just faded into the background.
Born to a military family, just outside the nation’s capital, Kassandra Lea has been reading since she could hold a book. Growing up she wanted to be a horse or Batman, then she discovered writing and realized she could be whatever she wanted if she lived vicariously through her characters. When not writing, she can be found hanging out with her dog, driving flashy cars, pursuing her love of horses, and cheering on the Packers. She lives in southern Wisconsin in an old house with her mother, a gang of furry monsters, and a ghost lovingly dubbed Bob.
