The boys are back and fiercer than ever!
"We were a unit tonight, moving as one. Even apart, we are deadly, but when combined – we are f**kin’ unstoppable." ~~ God ~~
Atlanta's notorious narcotics task force is at it again. They are stronger, bigger, and better than ever. Especially when a city councilman sends RECON Marine, Edwin Steele - who’s been blacklisted from his Oakland department - to join the team. God and Day weren't recruiting. They have a lot on their plates, like the fact they're supposed to be getting married soon. They don't have the time or the patience to integrate a decorated war hero with a slight chip on his shoulder into their well-oiled machine.
A hothead that's uncontrollable and terrible with authority… but wasn’t that their team motto?
Steele was ready to hang up his shield. He was done fighting with bigoted bastards that couldn't respect the job. He was good at fighting; he just needed the right team to fight with. When his uncle – City Councilman, Rasmus Steele – shows him a video of God's team in action, he knows right away, it's where his nephew belongs in order to restore his faith.
Steele pointed to the driver, a behemoth of a man wielding those massive firearms like a true beast… like a soldier. “And him. Who the hell is he?”
“That’s your new boss. Lieutenant Cashel Godfrey… they call him… God.”
Steele was skeptical about his new placement, but when he meets God's technology specialist/computer genius, “Tech,” he's willing to give it his all, and he definitely shows and proves.
Tech is stunning. His sweater vest and khakis, a stark contrast to the blue-jeaned roughnecks he works with. A beautiful sheep amongst the wolves. Steel thinks there's no way the brilliant man would be interested in a hardhead like him, but Tech has a few badass hidden talents of his own and manages to fool him... fool all of them.
This story is a part of a series but can stand alone. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has a HEA. There are no multiple pairings in this novel.

“Who’s that?” Steele nodded towards the glass wall, looking out of their department.
“Wow!” Tech’s eye’s widened, sitting up higher in his chair.
“Damn,” Syn whispered.
Day’s smile spread across his face and God already didn’t like anything about was getting ready to happen. The entire bullpen was on their feet, staring and moving towards the trio of men walking directly towards their department. God wished he’d stayed home in bed with his fiancé so they wouldn’t’ve been here for this surprise visit.
“You don’t recognize him?” Tech asked in awe, leaning into Steele’s shoulder.
“No. Why? Should I?” Steele frowned, looking around at everyone, but no one could take their eyes off the ridiculously handsome men entering their office. With them came an air of confidence and extreme wealth.
“Hey. No superstars allowed.” Day smiled and damn near jogged over and threw his arms around the man in the middle, holding him tight to him as the guy whispered something in Day’s ear that had him throwing his head back and laughing affectionately.
His classy trench coat was matched perfectly to his two-tone shawl collar shirt. It was masculine and the logo was one God didn’t recognize, probably too posh to be found where he shopped. His slacks looked custom made for him and his shoes looked Italian. The guy finally let Day go, his billion-dollar smile brighter than any light in their office. Day moved over and hugged the tallest one, looking him up and down like he liked what he saw. Who fucking wouldn’t? He wore dark slacks and a cream sweater with a thick gold herringbone decorating his neck. God kept his mouth pressed tightly together, not wanting to do anything that would make Day upset. The third guy was drool worthy. He’d seen him more than once, modeling in a culinary magazine or charming the pants off the female chefs on television. A sleek body encased in anther tailor-fitted blazer and matching slacks. The man oozed style and perfection, his light hazel eyes scanning the room, charismatic personality radiating from him, causing half of God’s men to melt in their fucking chairs just looking at him. The cool man held out his arms, the right side of his mouth curving up into a sexy grin while he encouraged Day to step into his embrace. Day hugged him more intimately than he hugged the others like the man was too beautiful to grab and manhandle.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Day finally asked, moving back to stand in front of the one in the middle. “Let me introduce you to everyone, first. I don’t think you’ve met the other guys.”
“No, I haven’t,” he said, too smoothly for God’s liking and he barely stopped his eyes from rolling to the heavens.
Day began pointing out everyone. “You remember Syn, Ruxs, Green, and Tech. This is our newest member, Edwin Steele. Michaels is on leave. And, I know you remember Ro, but he was injured so he’s home soaking up a lot of unnecessary pampering.” Day clasped his hand on the man’s broad shoulder. “Everyone, this is my best friend and frat brother, Prescott Vaughan, and beside him are his partners, that’s Dr. Edward Rickson, and this stunning man beside him is Blair McKenzie.”
“Being sex on a stick must be a job qualification to join your team, Leonidis. Looking around this table at all these strapping men has me considering a change in careers,” Blair said in a southern drawl that had each of the guys gushing at him and sticking their chests out a little further.
God looked at his guys, giving each of them a stare of disdain, which none of them saw because they were too busy gawking.

HOT, HOT, HOT. Loved this book, the only thing I hated was that it was over too soon! Once I started, I just couldn’t put this book down. I love that we saw the entire gang again and we were introduced to Steele, who is a main character, and then also Free, who will be in the next book. Steele and Tech are so insanely hot together I can’t even tell you how many times I was fanning myself while reading their story. Steele and Tech are complete opposites physically and I love that, so does Steele. God and Day are a big part of this book as well, and if you have read all the other books you know how awesome those two are together. Great addition to the series, I can’t wait to read the next book, which is about the new character we met, Free. I will note that the story ended at 89% or 90% and then there was a bonus story at the end, which was good and also left me wanting more. LOL

Tech is a great character. He's smart, funny, strong and, despite his nerdy phenotype, he is all man. He has created a family with the men that he protects and helps. I wish that I knew more about his past, but am hoping in subsequent stories that his story is revealed more. I found his background both mysterious and annoying – we don't get a lot of information. Tech is constantly surrounded by men who are bigger and stronger than him, but he's content to sit among his computers and work his magic. He knows that he's a valued member of the team. However, on the off chance that he gets up the courage to go in to the field, he's also been working out and training for a few years.
Steele is a tough guy. After a poor experience in CA, where his partner is killed in action, Steele is struggling. His uncle sees the struggle and takes it upon himself to set Steele up for a job with God's team – he needs a purpose and they will help him find it.
The relationship between Day and God is tricky. They work together, but are engaged. Day is ready to get married – he continues to try to talk with God about it, but God freezes up every time it's brought up. Day is starting to think perhaps he made a mistake. God doesn't want to marry him and he's struggling with how to come to terms with that. Day is a great operative and loves each of his team members. Because he's the sensitive one of the bunch, it's safe to say that God hurts him with his lack of communication.
God is the leader – he's supposed to be the strongest and know how to protect his team. He loves his team, but most of all, he loves Day. He wants to marry Day, but has reservations on the manner in which they get married. Despite his confidence in his skills, his team, his job, etc. he lacks confidence in his relationship – in his partner. At least, that's what it seems to me. I think that the communication between Day and God was so poor that it began to get on my nerves.
In the end, both teams need to work out whether or not being together is really for them. I think that this was a tricky book, in that I think it was supposed to be more about Day and God's relationship, but I almost saw more of Tech and Steele's relationship, so I was a little confused. Overall, I liked the writing and how the book jumped from person to person. I normally dislike stories told that way, but Via did a great job.
I can't wait to see what happens with the next couples.

My boys are back! And with the introduction of Edwin Steele to his team, God might have a little competition for the most badass alpha award. I love this series and I haven’t had such a visceral reaction to any of the men since God and Day first connected in book one.
The initial action scene in this book is the best in the series. The rest of the book contains a little less mayhem than some of the others but I loved watching the team in action again. Aside from Tech, the guys are all in their forties and I’m so glad that none of them have grown up and become responsible adults – though there is the possibility of a wedding in this one. The chemistry, the banter, and the graphic sex – it’s all back and I think this might be the sexiest book yet.
Edwin is a perfect addition to the team. Hell, he’s pretty close to my perfect man all round. A retired and highly decorated Marine, he’s drunk when he attends his first meeting with God and Day’s team. His skills make him God’s equal in the ring and a perfect accomplice for Rux and Green, while his emotional incontinence made me want to wrap him up and take him home.
Tech is the Marine’s perfect complement. Cerebral when Steele is physical, stable when Steele is broken, and diminutive when Steele is broken – I loved this man and I loved the connection between these two. Tech is quieter and smaller than the men he works with, but his skills equip, protect. and save God and Day’s team.
The chemistry between Tech and Steele is hot. Very hot. Book five provides the mix of sex, violence, and humour I’ve loved from the start. Tech may be smaller and cuter than the other men in these books, but he’s just as depraved in the bedroom. I love these men and I loved this book. The end of this story paves the way for book six and I’m so glad that this is a series that seems to be getting better rather than getting old. I can’t recommend this highly enough. I kinda want to read it again. Already.
