Stroke of Luck by Opal Carew

Good things do come in threes.

The newest erotic romance from bestselling author Opal Carew, Stroke of Luck.

Good things do come in threes.

April Smith’s luxurious Las Vegas wedding crashed and burned when her wealthy fiancé cheated on her and left her with a hotel bill that costs more than she makes in a year. Even more humiliating, her college ex-boyfriend Quinn Taylor has come to her rescue and bailed her out. They didn’t part on the best of terms and never expected to see one another again.

For Quinn, April was the one who got away and despite the heartache she caused him, he’s never gotten over her. Not wanting to be in his debt, April makes Quinn a tempting offer: she’ll spend the next month with him during his Vegas vacation, fulfilling his fantasies. Being with April has always been Quinn’s number one fantasy, and next on the list is sharing a woman with his best friend and business partner, Austin Wright. Since he can see an undeniable attraction between April and Austin, he makes that a condition of their deal, too.

Enjoying the attention and affection from two hot and handsome men, April gives in to her desires to be with both of them. But with those desires comes a growing love that she fears may force her to choose between Quinn and Austin—or lose them both.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is a really hot read – be warned! It starts out rather hard and I was ready to give Quinn a bit of a slap, even if he was coming to April’s rescue. He may have known her long ago and feel that she left him for another guy with more money, but he is still pretty unkind. Luckily, as the story progresses, his feelings are at least explained, and as his agreement with her plays out, the tables are somewhat turned and this second chance may just be everything he ever wanted.

April is a curious character, as she is seemingly under the thumb of her fiancé, yet she gives it all up due to having a backbone and morals. That he would then dump everything onto her and behave so despicably undoubtedly shows she made the right decision, but not an easy one. So we find her downtrodden, yet she shows great fire when faced with Quinn and Austin. It is an engaging mix, and can possibly be explained by her difficult childhood, and need for security. As the men understand this better, they finally deal with it better too.

Sexy, fun, and the damsel in distress definitely gets her knights in shining armour coming to provide her with security and love twice over – lucky April!

Mary☆☆☆☆
April is in Vegas to get married but she catches her fiancé cheating. Now the wedding is off, and she is stuck with a huge hotel bill. While the hotel staff is searching for things her fiancé bought at the hotel gift shop, a man happens to walk into the room. Turns out the man is her old college boyfriend. Can this day get any worse for April?

Quinn hadn't seen April since college and thought he never would see her again, not since she left him for another man. One who had more money, at least that is what he thought. After Quinn hears about April's troubles, he makes her an offer and it is one she cannot refuse because she has nowhere else to go.

Spending the month with Quinn and Austin might be fun but not falling in love with them will be hard. She tells Austin about her troubles with her ex-fiancé, what all he took from her. Why she can go home, and he feels that they can work something out.

This story was good and has the potential to be better, it seemed to be wishy-washy at times. I liked the idea of April with Quinn and Austin and the way they were with her. The threesome was great together. Although Quinn had to learn the real reason why she ditched him in college and that helped him towards her, but he seemed to want to be hateful almost. Anyway, I liked it and will be looking for the next story from this author.

M/F/M Romance
Triggers: Cheating

April is left with a huge hotel bill by Maurice when she catches him cheating. She is also further humiliated by him when she happens to run in to her ex-love, Quinn, and he agrees to help her. April doesn't like to feel that she is taking handouts. But when Maurice takes it a step further and demands, literally, the clothes off her back, Quinn has had enough.

Quinn doesn't really know what happened all those years ago. He thought he was over it. Turns out, he was just burying the pain. Seeing April again, he can't help but feel like the lost guy he was when she first left.

Austin is attracted to her in a way he didn't know he was capable of. He sees that Quinn is struggling with his own attraction, along with the desire to make April feel as much pain as he did. Austin knows that he wants April forever, but can he convince Quinn of that fact too?

The chemistry between these three is off the charts. My main issues with the story are Quinn taking things too far with April. He wants so badly to punish her and in the beginning I very much felt that he used her and abused her, and he was not my favorite character. He knew her feelings and simply disregarded them and I didn't like that at all. It took a while for me to forgive him. Also, Maurice's role, despite not being a big one, was disruptive and the resolution with him was less than satisfying. I had to go back and find what it was. Overall, it was entertaining though.

Bound Together by K. Webster & Nikki Ash Release Blitz

I want them. All of them. And I sure as hell won’t stop until I succeed. Not until we’re bound together by… Me.

From USA Today bestselling author K. Webster and Nikki Ash comes an angsty, new adult, why choose romance.

Oh, look, Ashton Carter destroyed his life—again.

Dad’s disappointed in me.
No shocker there.
But with them, it’s worse.
We’re torn apart and I’m responsible for the shredding.

Selfish.
Liar.
Unworthy.

I’ve made a mess of it all.
I’m not sure it’s even fixable.

Four broken hearts...
Anyone got any tape?

I may be self-destructive and have sucked them into my mess, destroying everyone’s lives in the process, but I’m sure I can fix it.

It’s gonna take focus and determination, both of which I’m sorely lacking.

I’m a spoiled boy who’s used to getting what I want.
In this case, I want them. All of them.
And I sure as hell won’t stop until I succeed.

Not until we’re bound together by…
Me.

Authors’ Note: Bound Together is a full-length mature, new adult, why choose romance between friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, with a bit of taboo thrown in. This story contains MF/MFMM/MM scenes. It’s the epic conclusion in the Torn and Bound duet. Torn Apart must be read first.

Bound Together is the second installment in the Torn and Bound duet. It cannot be read as a standalone. You have to read Torn Apart before you read Bound Together to get the full impact of the duet.

Bound Together picks up where Torn Apart left us. There isn't much I can post without ruining this read, so I am choosing to be very vague in this review.

Bound Together is everything I needed it to be. The angst was high, but it was so worth riding that emotional rollercoaster to get to the end. I was so invested in these characters. I laughed, I cried, I sat on the edge of my seat, but these authors brought their A-game to this duet. This duet is so worth the read!! Highly recommend!

Mary☆☆☆☆☆
This is the conclusion of the Torn and Bound duet and it picks up where book one left off. It continues with a slow burn and builds a fire the simmers and smolders throughout the entire duet. But in this part, the flames grow bigger and you wonder who is going to get burned.

I do not want to give any part of this story away, but I will say that you have to read book one to understand this book. It is worth it, so please read it and you will not be disappointed. This author duo has become one of my favorites that I do not have to read any blurb about an upcoming book, it is an automatic yes for me.

So grab something to drink, a blanket, get in a comfortable place, and enjoy this awesomeness. It is worth the emotional rollercoaster ride and in the end, you will want to ride it over and over.

He’s always been a part of my life, and recently he’s been a vital part. Like an artery that runs through my body. Without him, I’ll bleed out, suffering without his love and life running through me.

Torn Apart is the first installment in the duet series Torn and Bound.

Instantly, you are sucked into the dynamic of this story. There is Ashton, who is one hundred percent gay. He has never questioned that fact until one kiss with his best friend, Mia, has him questioning everything. Mia, who is in love with Ashton but knows nothing could ever come of it. Then we have Drew, who is the sexy ex-NHL hockey player turned college hockey coach, who has a history with Mia and baggage with the cocky captain Brayden. Lastly, there is Brayden. He is a beast on the ice and holds some serious resentment toward Drew for actions in the past. Brayden is dating Mia while defending Ashton and questioning the truce with Drew. The one common dominator in all of their relationships, there is a piece of all of them that want the others.

Their lives all entwine and you can feel the tension seeping out of the pages, whether it's sexual or anger. I found myself rooting for different couplings to happen and can't wait to get the ending to see if the one big mmfm moment actually happens. You get a little taboo and a whole lotta sexy in this one. Book two cannot come out fast enough!!

Mary☆☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars

I didn't know what to expect in this story because I didn't even read the blurb before accepting this copy. I knew I wanted to read it even without reading it – I always want to read books from K. Webster and Nikki Ash. Their stories are great and sometimes make you think. And this one was a rollercoaster ride of what is going on and who is going to end up with whom.

Ashton and Mia are best friends, he is gay and she is in love with him or so she thinks. Brayden wants Mia and Ashton wants Brayden. And then there is Drew, he meets Mia while she is out with the girls and he turns out to be the new hockey coach. And Ashton's father, the dean of the college, has him staying with Ashton. Brayden and Drew grew up together and had a falling out and haven't spoken in a few years.

So now the four of them are together and you will not believe what is going to happen. My mind is still reeling. I need book two NOW!!!! If you are looking for a story that is a little out of your comfort level and on the taboo side, then you need to read this one. I love this author duo and cannot wait for more from them.

He tastes like whiskey and bad decisions, and nothing has ever tasted better.

ADAM

She holds my hand as we walk, squeezing it a little. It feels natural, but then again, weird.

This girl—woman, now, I suppose—she has been off limits to me for so long. It’s really hard to get that out of my head. And sometimes, when I look at Maggie, I see Indie.

It’s just… weird.

Indie doesn’t lead me to the front porch. She takes me around the side. “Where are we going?”

“To spy on them, of course.”

“Ahh, I don’t know.”

She stops us on the side of the house in front of the office window. “Stop being a baby. Don’t you want to be with McKay?”

And this is weird too. Since when do I talk about my feelings with Indie? With anyone, actually?

“You’re really trying hard to find an excuse, aren’t you?”

“I’m not.” It comes out defensive. “Of course I love McKay. Of course I want to be with him.”

“So what’s the problem?”

I hesitate. She just shakes her head at me and drops my hand. “Fine. Then stay here. I’ll spy.”

She turns away and continues walking along the side of the house, then looks over her shoulder one last time before she disappears around the corner.

I jog to catch up.

Fuck it.

When I round the corner, Indie has her face pressed against the glass of the family room window. The only lights on inside are the ones under the kitchen cabinets. So it’s a low light. A soft glow of yellow. But it’s more than enough to see them.

Donovan and McKay are kissing.

I exhale and then heat fills me up. And I don’t remember breathing, but I exhale again. And then again. My chest rising and falling as emotions flood into my bloodstream.

“It’s kinda hot,” Indie whispers.

I have to agree. It kinda is. But it’s a lot of other things too.

They are both shirtless. And I’m not gonna lie, Donovan is just as nice to look at as McKay.

That’s not the only reason it’s hot though. This looks like a real fucking kiss. McKay is even kissing him back. And then Donovan’s hand slips down McKay’s chest, then down his ridiculous sixty-four-pack abs and rests on the waistband of his jeans.

Indie sucks in a little breath of surprise. “Damn. I didn’t think they’d… ooohh. Wow.”

Donovan is gripping McKay’s cock through his jeans. And McKay pulls out of the kiss. I have a moment of hope that he’ll push Donovan away. McKay looks down at Donovan’s hand as Donovan grips his cock and begins massaging his hand over his groin area.

But McKay doesn’t push him away. He closes his eyes and leans back against the counter. Practically giving Donovan permission to do whatever he wants.

I should've been prepared for this book. I knew that when I finished Creeping Beautiful (book one), it stayed with me for a couple weeks. These characters haunted me then, but they completely shattered me now.

The first book was our introduction to the characters: Adam, McKay, Donovan, and Indie. Each one has their issues, their strengths, and weaknesses. Each one has an important role to play in the lives of each other, and the Company. The thing is, I thought I had a good handle on what was going on. I figured I had pieced this mystery together... Boy, was I wrong.

Book two in the Creeping Beautiful series picks up where the cliffhanger dropped, but the timeline is distorted – four years later is a long time. Even more so when the time is totally unaccounted for. Indie comes home and is ready for some answers. The question is, who can provide them?

I can't really give any more information, this book is a psychological minefield. There are twists and turns, questions and half answers, sanity and you know, the opposite of that. The real challenge is to figure out how everything is connected. I will say that I've been waiting for some of the events of this book since the beginning (HAWT!) and man, was it worth the wait!! While I am satisfied with the events, I'm also a little disappointed that the book ended where it did. I feel like there is still so much to figure out. J.A. Huss has really blown me away with these books, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Mary☆☆☆☆
First off, I am so glad I read this one. I wasn't sure I wanted to after reading the first book because I didn't know if I wanted to or not. I really enjoyed this one more than the first one. I kept waiting for author J.A. Huss to say, ‘and this is how McKay or Adam's dream went.’ But it didn't and now I want to know what is going to happen with Dono.

I am not going to give anything away, no spoilers, just tell you that if you read book one and you are not sure about this one, then you need to read this one. It gives some backstories and fills in some things. And you will learn a lot from this one.

There is less cringing while reading this one and it still gives me some of the feels for a good story. And there is a mystery aspect to it too. Now I want to know when the next book will be out because I want more.

Avid Reader☆☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars Overall
M/F/M MC Romance

Book 1: Along Came Merrie
4 stars
M/F/M MC Romance
Triggers: Murder, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping

Merrie is just trying to start over. She feels like a failure and knows that she just has to push forward and keep moving. But when she finds herself lost, in the middle of a state she has never been to before, Merrie steps in a puzzle that is more complex than she can even imagine.

Braden lives his life on the ranch. But he knows that someone is out there for him. While driving home one day, he comes across Merrie. She's a mess. Braden knows that she needs help, but when he tries to bring her to the hospital, she threatens to run. The only other person that Braden knows that can help her is his brother, Leo.

After doing what they can to make sure that Merrie is safe, they also go a step further and bypass the local authorities, just in case. Merrie describes the local biker gang as those who tried to kill her and they won't take any chances with her life.

It will take everyone to figure out why someone would want to kill Merrie. There is romance, stubbornness, love, and danger all wrapped together in this story. I really liked watching Merrie grow up a little and how Braden and Leo were able to find their own happiness, as well as figure out what they truly wanted.

Book 2: True North
5 stars
M/F/M Romance
Triggers: Human trafficking, Stalking

Allison is supposed to keep moving, but she likes her job and is starting to like the town too. But when someone grabs her after her shift, she knows it's not for a good time. Allison is running and she's been a step ahead for a while now. But now, Allison has to get away. She is running for her life.

Givon and North have been friends since they were young boys. Both had very tough childhoods and they bonded over their abuse and neglect. But one went with the law, the other became an outlaw. Their friendship is solid, but they also have to contend with their respective families.

I liked watching Allison, Givon, and North together. They had an instant chemistry among them and I think that had to do more with the fact that Givon and North had history and a rapport already. Both had to deal with their alpha tendencies and when push comes to shove, one will have to choose a side.

Then when Allison's past comes racing towards her, she'll have to decide whether or not she can finally trust someone again. North and Givon will do everything in their power to show her that they are worth the risk.

A sweet story about finding a new path, love, and friendship. I enjoyed this a lot.

Book 3: When Dove Cries
4 stars
M/F/M romance and mystery

Dove is such a strong character right from the start. She escapes this horrible shed and wants to live. She never gives up. I love that about her character.

Then you have Cade and Draven. While their relationship is far more complicated, they start to work together to solve the mystery of who is trafficking the women?

The sex between the three of them is scorching and while they are still trying to solve the mystery, both men are so protective.

While I guessed who the "bad guy" was early on, it did not stop me from enjoying the book. Because I read the previous story, this one just added to the mystery and awesomeness of the series.

I would love to continue to read Carter’s books!

Book 4: Lily Roar
5 stars
M/F/M romance and mystery, Biker

Loved this book just as much as the last one. I really enjoy Carter's writing style.

Charlie, Lily, and Branch are all amazing characters in their own way; however, together they have explosive chemistry and create an amazing unit.

I also loved that you caught glimpses of the other characters from previous stories. While they do not play major roles, it was nice to see them interwoven together.

I can't write much more without wanting to give things away, so I'll just say that this is a series that just keeps on giving and I can't wait for more!

I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate high rollers. I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box. I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.

I’ve been pretty fortunate in life to experience some amazing things. I’ve lived in France, traveled throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand. I am a mom to an amazing little boy. I’m surrounded by friends and family. And although I love holding a book in my hand, I absolutely adore my ereader, which I’ve named Ruby. I love to hear from readers so I’ve made it really easy to find me on the web.

Dirty & Dangerous by Shayla Black

Trading pleasure for information is no way to catch a criminal… or is it?

With fifty grand at stake and a star-witness missing, bounty hunter R. A. Thorn and Detective Cameron Martinez reluctantly team up to and put their bodies on the line to make gorgeous informant Brenna Sheridan a deal: everything she knows in exchange for everything she desires.

Their heated interrogation explodes into an unexpected experience none can forget or forego. Commitment-shy Thorn is sure their “deal” is nothing but pure, sizzling lust. Cam knows it’s more. But Brenna is keeping dangerous secrets, one a mafia boss is intent on learning—before silencing her forever. While on the run, her past spills out. And when shocking desires are revealed, there’s no turning back…

Can the guys come together to protect and serve the woman they want to claim for good before the threat ends her?

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
4.5 stars of incredible hotness!

This is a book where you will want the cover of three ice cubes to materialise by your side, as you will need them to cool down... Shayla Black writes very sensual, passionate stories and has no difficulty with pushing her characters boundaries – and she excels herself here.

We know pretty early on that Brenna is a sensual woman, and clearly in need of some good sexual experiences. So when the bail bondsman Thorn and policeman Cameron make her an offer in exchange for information, it is time to reach for the first ice cube. But then what was really a bit of a dare turns out to be a very heated and intense encounter. Much as Thorn is reluctant to allow anything serious to develop, he is powerless to resist the pull to Brenna and, unexpectedly, to Cameron.

I enjoy reading MMF and am always fascinated by the interaction between the men. I really think this was maybe one of my most enjoyable, new-to-the-experience trio stories. It is hot, but also has fun and happy elements which made it much more enjoyable and gives hope that they really will achieve all that they desire.

Shayla Black is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than forty novels, including the Wicked Lovers series and, with Lexi Blake, the Perfect Gentlemen series. For over fifteen years, she’s written contemporary, erotic, paranormal, and historical romances via traditional, independent, foreign, and audio publishers. Her books have sold well over a million copies and have been published in a dozen languages.
