Exploited by A. Meredith Walters

In this pulse-pounding novel from the bestselling author of Butterfly Dreams, a vigilante hacker plays a seductive game with the agent who’s chasing her online—and sharing her bed in real life.

At first glance, I’m nothing out of the ordinary. I am a daughter. A sister. A friend. When you look at me you won’t see anything that warrants suspicion. I don’t look like a criminal.

My name is Hannah Whalen, but most people know me as freed0mov3rdr1v3, or “Freedom Overdrive”—one of the world’s most prolific and notorious hacktivists. My goal—my purpose—is to shed light on the evil that lurks behind the corporate and government lies we have been force-fed for too long.

My story begins with the best possible intention. Devoting my life to exposing the corrupt. The dishonest. The unethical. For that, they label me a cyber-terrorist. Wanted by the FBI, I’ve always been one step ahead.

Until I fell in love.

Because I’m sleeping with the man who’s hunting me. And he has no idea that I am his prey. Now I have to decide what’s more important: my freedom or my heart.

Note: Exploited ends on a cliffhanger. Hannah’s story continues in Aftermath.

In order to lay the ground work for the story, the author takes her time introducing us to the characters and revealing their back story and intentions. Too much time for me because I found the first half of this book really slow going. I struggled to connect with Hannah, probably because of her manipulation of Mason, who I liked. And while we're on the subject of Mason, there were times I struggled to believe that he could be that oblivious to what was going on right in front of him given he is an FBI agent.

The last 40% or so of the book is where the story really starts to move and take shape. At this point I started to feel more invested in Hannah as it became a real possibility that she may be exposed as the hacker that Mason is investigating. There is plenty of tension toward the end of the book and cliffhanger ending left me with no doubt that I enjoyed Exploited and will definitely be reading the next book, Aftermath. I want to know what happens next.

Hannah Whelan works at an IT company by day and is a black hat hacker at night. But she doesn't do the hacking to steal, she does it to get the bad guys exposed so they get caught. She is very careful and only one other person in the world knows that she is Freedom Overdrive, her hacker handle.

Now she has to get close to Mason Kohler, an FBI agent, to see just how much information and how close they are to finding out who Freedom Overdrive really is.

Mason Kohler loves being and FBI agent, love computers, and hunting cyber crimes. Hunting Freedom Overdrive has been his case for years and he wants to catch the guy and soon. When he meets Hannah at the local coffee shop, he is suspicious but blows it off as just his usual thing because of him being an agent. But what he doesn't realize is, he should follow his instincts, especially with Hannah.

As Hannah gets closer to Mason, she learns more about what he knows and she begins to fall for him. While Mason is falling for her too. Will she be able to end things before it is too late? What happens when Mason learns the truth about who she really is?

This is a really good story, although it started out a little slow but picked up, it is a romantic cyber suspense and I can't wait for more. I need to know what happens with Hannah and Mason.

I have read this author before and love her writing style and look forward to reading more from her.

M/F/M Novella Romance

Danni is her own woman. Despite what her stepfather would like, she has stuck to her own guns and kept doing what she loves – construction. It helps her feel close to her dad, who passed away. Even though she doesn't have a great mom and her stepdad is skeezy and mean, she has forged ahead.

When she goes in on the weekend to ensure that the work is done correctly, she runs in to Blake and Evan. They are two sexy business men who just happen to own the business that she's helping to construct.

Blake and Evan work hard. They also like to take pleasure in the same woman. While you don't know very much about them, you do know that they both like Danni.

This is a very quick, steamy read. It is not very developed, but then again, it's too short to really get into anything. The chemistry is okay, but the scenes are very hot.

Mary Jo☆☆☆
Cute, sassy afternoon read with lots of smexy times. There are a lot of familiar plot lines, disappointing stepdaughter (that would be Danni) and the hot to trot billionaires (Blake and Evan), girl needs a favor, billionaires that hate to be used, and a mother who lays on a guilt trip to her poor daughter to save her husband.

For a short story, it works. If it had been 100 pages longer I fear it would have gotten repetitious, but in this length, the chemistry between Blake, Danni, and Evan jumps off the page. I'd say it leaves you wanting more but anything more would be too hot to handle...

This is a quick read with a potential sequel in the making.

This novella starts with an old school porn set up (business men surprised by a sweaty, scantily clad construction worker) and quickly moves on to a second, equally familiar Pretty Woman/Pygmalion storyline. The tropes are a little tired but this is erotica with a touch of storyline. The sex is hot and the m/f/m ménage scenes are steamy and pretty creative.

Construction worker Danni is actually a pretty interesting character. Her family drama doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but I enjoyed her as the billionaire pair’s ‘bit of rough.’ Readers who enjoy a Pretty Woman story will like the scenes where the men take her for a designer makeover.

Blake and Evan are the usual attractive and attentive romance fiction billionaires. There is a tiny bit of m/m play in this story, but the author makes it clear that these are straight guys humouring Danni. I’m always a bit dubious about the straight guys who want a long-term m/f/m relationship, but Blake and Evan are sexy and I did enjoy their sexual adventures with Danni.

The actual storyline left me a little bewildered but I don’t think anyone is going to read this for a storyline. There are some fun moments and some very sexy scenes in this story.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This book is pure escapism with some hot and steamy scenes, but a with slightly odd story wrapped around it.

It undoubtedly features a level of insta-lust that works, but three-way insta-love that seems a little excessive, even for someone who believes in love at first sight.

I enjoyed the turn around in that the construction worker was female, but she was doing it by choice, not because she was without means. Her back story was a little odd, and her relationships with her stepfather and mother were rather strange. But her encounters with Blake and Evan were erotic, if unlikely!

As I say, pure fantasy, and sometimes that is all you need!

The first part of this series I wasn't a huge fan of, but since I love Lily Harlem I thought I would give this short story a chance and I'm glad I did. It was good for a quick, sexy read. Not my favorite, not the worst either though.

I like that we get to see Pedro and Aleco alone since they are in a triad and so often you barely get to see just two connect on such an emotional level like you do in this story. There are some naughty scenes, but there are also some scenes that truly show the love that is there between each part of the triad.

That being said, the story is a bit flimsy when it comes down to the reasoning behind Julie's disappearance. I liked the story up until that point though. While I understand Aleco's thoughts, it just didn't come from the enemy in a powerful enough way to make me believe it from the enemy’s side of things.

Runner by Parker Williams

Matt Bowers’s life ended at sixteen, when a vicious betrayal by someone who he should have been able to trust left him a shell of himself, fighting OCD and PTSD, living in constant fear and always running. When he buys a remote tract of land, he thinks he’s found the perfect place to hide from the world and attempt to establish some peace. For ten years he believes he’s found a measure of comfort, until the day a stranger begins to run on Matt’s road.

He returns every day, an unwelcome intrusion into Matt’s carefully structured life. Matt appeals to the local sheriff, who cannot help him since the jogger is doing nothing wrong. Gradually, after tentatively breaking the ice, Matt begins to accept the man’s presence—

But when the runner doesn’t show up one day, it throws Matt’s world into chaos and he must make the hardest decision of his life.

Parker Williams is a new-to-me author. I was thoroughly captivated at the start of Runner.

Matthew is living in the aftermath of an attack by his school teacher back when he was sixteen. Now, nearly thirty, he's a shut-in living in a rural setting, never leaving to go to town. Never interacting with anyone. Living with both PTSD and OCD, everything must stay the same.

A man running by, day after day, puts Matthew's world on its axis.

I thought the emotional toll was written accurately and with great compassion. On that front, I'd give the book 5 stars.

However, there was an air of unbelievability to both the story and the dialogue. Sugary sweet, no one flawed. I mention this, because this is reader-subjective. If not in the right frame of mind, it may be too much to handle, page after page of sugary sweet, or it may just be what the doctor ordered.

For me, around the 60% mark, it was too much of the same on every page, without any conflict. In a different mood, I may have ate it right up.

I felt the relationship was too quick, without any true building blocks, tension, or true bonding. Matthew was ready to be in love, so he was...

Perfect for a quick, afternoon read if you're looking for MM romance.

*Awesome how Matthew lives off the land. But here in Pennsylvania, Lemon trees do not grow, and this story takes place much further north. Lemons are a tropical fruit and only grow in climates warm year-round

Angie☆☆☆☆
Let me start off by saying nine times out of ten, I HATE books that have a lot of inner monologue and not a lot of dialogue. I always find myself skimming and getting bored. This did NOT happen with this book. The author did a great job of keeping me engaged in the story and characters. Matt had a horrible incident when he was 16, he is basically a recluse, until he sees a runner run by his secluded house. What unfolds is a budding relationship between Matt and Charlie. I really enjoyed this book. It was slow paced in some aspects, but in others fast paced. It kept my attention and I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. I fell in love with both Matt and Charlie. I could have smacked Matt's brother a few times, but I get it. Sweet story that gave me the feels.

Matt has lived a life revolving around order and fear. When he was sixteen, his trust was broken and it was never regained. Despite having a family who was supportive and loving, they just couldn't understand what he had survived – how the trauma dictated everything that Matt thought, did, etc. So he moved out of their way – or so he thought.

This was a story about redemption, love, and forgiveness. Matt and his family have been at odds since he was sixteen. He felt that he was a burden, his family just wanted him to be "better," but didn't truly understand what that was supposed to look like.

When Charlie starts running past Matt's house, Matt panics. He calls the local sheriff, his brother, Clay. Despite his sympathy towards his brother, Clay can't really prevent Charlie from running on a public street, so Matt will just have to endure.

There were some slow aspects of this story, but I felt that Williams did an excellent job in moving everything forward. Even the inner monologue wasn't boring. There were definitely moments when I just wanted Matt's family to understand, but in the end, everything will either be as is or change.

I really liked this story and found it heartwarming.

Sarah☆☆☆☆

I liked this story of a recluse with PTSD and the man who jogs past his house each day. Living an almost self-sufficient life on an isolated property, Matt manages to be a much more interesting character than his mental health problems suggest. Charlie, a successful author, manages to be lonelier and in more need of support than he initially appears. Together, these two make for an odd couple but they fit together quite beautifully.

This is a slow, sweet, and sometimes dark story of a man who finds that his need for companionship (and a bad case of blue balls) allows him to push past crippling PTSD and forge a tentative relationship with a new neighbour. This isn’t a simple story. Matt hurt his family badly when he rejected them and repairing broken relationships isn’t easy. Over time, Matt has retreated from the world and the people who care for him and the way back isn’t easy.

The romance between Matt and Charlie didn’t always work for me. Charlie is a little bit too perfect and far too forgiving. Matt’s treatment of Charlie is pretty awful at times and his feelings for Charlie move from anger to lust in an unexpected split second. The relationship between Matt and Charlie felt too fast and too certain. I was never really sure what Charlie got out of the relationship.

While I thought Matt’s PTSD was handled sensitively and sympathetically, I struggled some with this storyline. I work with teen survivors of trauma and abuse daily and I was a bit confused by sixteen-year-old Matt’s ability to walk away from his psychiatrist, refuse treatment, drop out of school, and become a recluse. I don’t know if this would be acceptable in the US but in the UK, professionals work in coordinated teams to ensure traumatised kids get the mental health support they need. Even when – and especially when – they don’t want any help. I’m glad that Charlie didn’t immediately fix all of Matt’s problems, but some of Matt’s ingrained behaviours and compulsions are fixed way, way too quickly and easily.

Beyond Matt and Charlie’s story is the story of Matt’s hometown and the wonderfully supportive and slightly quirky small-town characters. Again, this is a little too wholesome and the people are just a little too good to be true for my liking, but the town does add some charm to the story.

PARKER WILLIAMS began to write as a teen, but never showed his work to anyone. As he grew older, he drifted away from writing, but his love of the written word moved him to reading. A chance encounter with an author changed the course of his life as she encouraged him to never give up on a dream. With the help of some amazing friends, he rediscovered the joy of writing, thanks to a community of writers who have become his family.

Parker firmly believes in love, but is also of the opinion that anything worth having requires work and sacrifice (plus a little hurt and angst, too). The course of love is never a smooth one, and Happily Ever After always has a price tag.

Wolf Henrikson watched the sexy stranger flee her table like it was the Titanic and the bathroom was the last available lifeboat. And he couldn’t say that he blamed her. He hadn’t been trying to eavesdrop on the couple’s conversation; it was only that every time the man spoke to anyone from the restaurant’s staff, he shouted like he wanted to make the scene he was in fact making.

What the hell was the cute brunette doing with such an a**hole anyway? The few times he’d looked around to see if his dinner companion had arrived, he’d noticed the woman sitting not too far away—and she’d made him do a double take every time. Between her glossy chocolate waves, the bright red paint on her bow-tie lips, and the vintage-style red dress with the plunging neckline and the full knee-length skirt, she had the sex appeal of a pinup girl. He couldn’t help wondering if she wore garters and thigh-highs beneath that skirt.

Wolf almost regretted that he no longer had any reason to stay at the bar because the scene playing out at the nearby table was like a train wreck he couldn’t stop watching. And, oh, he did enjoy watching. People were just so fucking interesting, even when they were off their damn rockers.

But the prospective submissive he’d been planning to meet—in public, at her request—had just called to let him know she’d gotten cold feet. He respected the honesty. The BDSM lifestyle wasn’t for everyone, and it wasn’t something he recommended anyone explore frivolously. But the change in plans left him at loose ends.

Actually, that feeling was a constant presence in his blood these days. Restlessness. Boredom. Dissatisfaction without really being able to pinpoint why.

In anticipation of the meeting, he’d only had water, but he dropped a few dollars on the bar anyway, then pushed off the stool and made for the restrooms at the back. Blasphemy would be hopping soon, and even though he wasn’t scheduled to work a shift, he could no doubt find a willing partner to play with there. Though he was one of the twelve Master Dominants and a one-twelfth owner of the city’s most exclusive BDSM club, Wolf’s particular kink didn’t require all the equipment and special rooms that some did. Really, voyeurism and exhibitionism could be enjoyed anywhere. Which was kinda the point.

As long as he could watch, or knew others were watching, or was with someone who got off on being watched, he was all kinds of good.

Or, at least, he used to be.

Even though this is part of the series, it can be read as a standalone, but you understand so much if it is read as part of the series.

Blasphemy is one of the sexiest BDSM clubs to read about. Twelve masters, with each book revolving around one of them. Eyes on You is Wolf's book. Wolf is a voyeur; his kink is to watch. He's been having fun at Blasphemy, but he feels he is missing something.

Olivia is on the worst date in history. When the sexy stranger from across the bar offers to rescue her, she'll do anything to get rid of the horrible date. She never expects to find someone so sexually compatible. Wolf is everything that excites her. Can it really be this easy with someone?

Eyes on You is a sexy, quick read. I wish there was more about this couple. Wolf is sexy and possessive, while Liv is submissive and so eager to please. I can't wait for more in this series.

Mary☆☆☆☆☆
Olivia Foster is out on a date from hell when she notices the gorgeous man sitting at the bar. She can't stop staring at him, wondering what it would be like if he were her date. So after they bump into each other outside the restrooms, she is more excited after meeting him.

Wolf Henrikson is waiting on a possible playmate, when he noticed the beauty sitting with the jerk that seems to be talking too loud so everyone hears him. When his date cancels, he decides to leave. But after bumping into the beauty in the hall by the restrooms, he wants to spend more time with her.

Wolf ends up saving Liv and they spend the weekend together. They can't believe they both love the same things, PDA where others can watch. They both like to be watched and like to watch. And when Wolf tells her about him being part of Blasphemy, the BDSM club, she is intrigued and so turned on. She wants to know more and try it too. The more he shows her, the more they see that they are made for each other.

Can they make this relationship work? Will her straight past come back to hurt her? Can Wolf protect her from it if and when it does?

I love everything about this series and can't wait for more because there are more masters from the club to cover. If you are looking for a series that covers a BDSM club vibe and relationships, then this series is for you. Each book is about a different master and there are 12 masters at Club Blasphemy, so enjoy, I sure am!

Kris☆☆☆☆
Short and steamy novella that I thoroughly enjoyed. Wolf is getting stood up by a prospective submissive as he's also witnessing one of the worst dates he's ever seen. Olivia is in first date hell, wondering if she can actually leave the restaurant and not be noticed. Heading to the bathroom to escape, she runs into the hot stranger who was sitting at the bar witnessing her desperation. Wolf gives Olivia the out she needs, pretending to be an old lover and interrupting the date from hell. The two happen to spark with major chemistry! Olivia is an exhibitionist and has never found the right outlet. Wolf is just what she never knew she needed. As master at the BDSM club Blasphemy, he is able to bring all her dark fantasies to life. The two characters are wonderful together and there's steam pouring from the pages. Awesome addition to this series, the pages flew by and left me smiling.

Avid Reader☆☆☆☆
M/F BDSM Romance

Olivia is having the worst luck with dating. She's in an embarrassing situation and is lucky enough to find the mysterious man across the bar not only attractive, but he's also willing to help her get out of the terrible date that she's on.

Wolf is intrigued by the woman who is trying to sit through her uncomfortable date. Intrigue isn't something that he's felt in quite a while, so when he has the chance to help Olivia out, he pounces on it.

This is a short novella on how Wolf shows Olivia that she's the submissive that he's been waiting for. There is a lot that goes on, the scenes are very sexy and the connection that Wolf and Olivia have is amazing.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is a super hot story which is sure to please. I would recommend setting aside the time to read this rather than eating too much into your sleep time, as you will not want to stop until you see how the original encounter develops.

I love the premise of the most terrible date ever – such a nightmare scenario, and such a wildly unexpected and wonderful change of direction. Wolf is not just a white knight, but a wonderfully dark and fulfilling one as well! That Olivia has a deep secret that her cheating ex-fiancé ridiculed plays perfectly into Wolf's desires and the rest is just unmitigated hotness.

As a great believer of love at first sight (though not of insta-love, if that is possible!), this book does a fabulous job of making the relationship advance at high speed in a wonderful way – and it is achieved because these two people are very open and honest with each other from the start. I love to see communication working in a relationship!

Thank you, Ms. Kaye, for a super good read.

Jade and Dillion have moved on with their lives. She's given into the false safety that Benny is dead. She killed him. She burnt the house to the ground. But Benny is always there lurking.

Tanner has taken Benny in, heals him, and helps him become Benjamin, his Monster. Is Tanner really the Master, or does Benny just make him believe he is? Who controls who? Benny has his sights set on a brand new doll and no one will interfere with him getting her.

Dukey and Webster have a way of telling this story that you feel bad for Benny. You know you're not supposed to, but you want to see him win. I love this web they've weaved I can't wait to see what happens next.

Book 3 in the Pretty Little Dolls series was an absolute treat!
I love where this story is heading –
The Monster has returned, with a little help from an associate of his father's.
Tanner has revived our favorite monster, and has whet Benny's appetite.
The question is, what's the price of Tanner's assistance? What is he hoping to gain from this?

Can a sociopath truly love another? Is that a real emotion that is felt by a completely psychotic person? We know he can obsess and stalk, that's something Benny is capable of. His previous object of "affection" has ruined him, but being Benny – he hasn't given up.
What if Benny finds his TRUE first love?

This was not what I was expecting, but I now am finding myself sympathizing for Benny!
Everyone deserves love, but is everyone deserving of love?
The story has progressed, but I have so many more questions I can't stop thinking about it.

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles...prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I'm not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I'm a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.
