Red Wolf is a fantastical retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, from the imaginative mind of Rachel Vincent.

To be honest, I'm no fan of retellings, doesn't matter if it's my favorite tale. However, I am a major fan of Vincent's, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to escape in the Little Red Riding Hood world as she sees it.

I'm also intrigued by the dark and mysterious air that wafts around stories featuring primitive villages, with their intriguing folklore to explain the inexplicable.

There truly is a strong likeness in the overall feel between Red Wolf and The Village, which is an amazing thing, as I enjoy rewatching the film over and over.

Read from cover to cover, a dark and ominous vibe causing the pages to turn at a rapid rate, I immersed myself in the tale Adele has to tell. Longing to create a life of her own, with the loss of her father, the grief ever hanging over her, Adele wishes to settle down with the boy of her dreams, surrounded by family.

Traipsing through the Dark Wood to visit her grandmother at her mother's behest, Adele is put to a test, one she didn't even realize she was taking, the twists and turns creating an intriguing read.

On the cusp of her birthday, Adele learns of a world she never knew existed, altering her plans for the future. She is now the protector of her village, keeping the villagers safe from the monsters in the Dark Wood. What she wants and desires no longer matters.

While Red Wolf is a retelling of the classic Little Red Riding Hood, there are few similarities, ensuring the story has a brand-new feel, allowing the reader to be surprised, to experience the unexpected.

Word of warning, Adele is sixteen, growing up in an isolated village, the story told with a young adult mindset. Some grown adults may find her personality immature or grating, as she has a know-it-all type personality and a stubborn streak a mile wide. Keep in mind, she is a child, even if in her world she would be considered an adult. Her upbringing and the age of the era influences her personality and how she views the world. Strong and capable, Adele is innocent, thrust into a world where werewolves and monsters exist. It was easy for me to be empathetic, understanding why Adele was making the decisions she was making, even if I didn't agree with them, because I have the advantage of looking at the situation as an adult who had access to an education and a wide world view. Adele is an isolated teen in a fairytale, who sometimes rubbed me the wrong way, but I appreciated the authenticity of it.

Is this a romance? No. While there is an undercurrent of romance influencing Adele's choices, the story itself is supported by the fantasy, whimsy, and folklore surrounding Oakvale and the Dark Wood.

While not a cliffhanger, the ending is rather abrupt, which is both satisfying as a standalone while leaving the door cracked open for a sequel.

Honestly, I was surprised in how much I enjoyed it. Not because Red Wolf is Rachel Vincent's creation, but because it was a retelling (not a fan) and I was thoroughly absorbed.

This is the last of the Cinderella series by K. Webster and the perfect ending for Winston and Ash. The last book, Prince Charming, ended on a cliffhanger that left me on the edge and I wasn't sure how this one was going to go. There was so much that Ash needed to tell Winston, but she thought she was keeping his family safe by keeping secrets. Secrets can destroy everyone involved, even when not meant to.

This whole series is filled with a rollercoaster of emotions and it is hot, steamy, and raw. Winston is the ultimate alpha male, and, in the beginning, Ash thinks she is weak but learns that she is strong and can be independent. But it takes Winston to make her see that she has a backbone and knows how to defend herself.

There are twists and turns that you will not expect, so sit back and enjoy the ride. I loved everything about this series, Ash and Winston are perfect. Author K. Webster is the best at pulling you into a story and twisting you right along with it, one of my favorite twisted-minded authors that I love to read.

The Glass Slipper is the third and final installment in the Cinderella series. This conclusion is everything I wanted it to be for this couple.

The Glass Slipper picked up right where Prince Charming left us on the cliffhanger. Ash admitted to hiding things from Win regarding the Morellis. Win knew he shouldn't forgive her, but he couldn't stay away. Ash knew Win cared, she just had to make him see how much. I love the conclusion Webster gave us. It was perfect for this couple!

I wasn't aware this is part of a collection and I could get more of the Morelli story! I picked up Secret Beast by Amelia Wilde. I can't wait to get Caroline's secrets!!

The Glass Slipper (book three in the Cinderella series) was absolutely everything I hoped for and more!

The book picks up at the insane cliffhanger, anxiety fully in control of this situation as Winston had found out what Ash was involved in. (It's not good, just in case you haven't read it yet.) When trust is broken, it's nearly impossible to find the ability to move on together. When that broken trust involves your mortal enemy, well you can probably piece together the rest. Which is the lesser evil: the enemy you know or the one you don't?

What I loved about The Glass Slipper is that while I was on the edge of my seat, I didn't know what was going to happen. I hoped, but didn't know. There were twists upon twists, with turns in the middle. I had no idea what was going on, who was really involved, and if anything was going to be fixed. Win and Ash are just explosive together, and I can't wait to read about the rest of Constantines!

I needed this book since I finished the first book, and this one picks up where the first one ends. With Ash stuck at home after her stepbrother triplets got a hold of her. She calls Perry, Winston's brother, for help and he is all too happy to help her.

As Ash and Winston navigate through their venture, exchanging money for favors in and out of the bedroom, Ash has to figure out how to not fall in love with Winston. He is no Prince Charming after all, he is the villain. Although he might need Ash to save him in the end.

Will Ash get away from the terrible triplets and be able to go to college? Can Winston help keep her safe? Will they give in to their feelings and let love win in the end? Why does Leo want to destroy Winston?

I love this series and I need more now. Winston and Ash need something that only the other can provide and it makes their relationship perfect. This story, although a little unconventional – which is all K. Webster – is dirty, filthy, funny, sexy, twisted, ruthless, caring, and any other words you can think of. When can I get my hands on The Glass Slipper in April 2021?

Prince Charming is the second book in K. Webster's Cinderella series. Now most second books, I've found, tend to be filler. This was not the case.

Winston, and Ash are enjoying playing together. But their play is of the filthy, kinky, naughty sort. Unfortunately, there is an evil trying to destroy both Winston and Ash, and that evil is known as The Terror Triplets. There's just constantly something nefarious lurking behind the scenes.

As in true royalty form, Winston is calm, collected, and superior to everyone, a true alpha male. He knows what he wants, and he can afford to buy it. Period. Ash, on the other hand, is part of a respectable family but isn't "well off" herself. Her father remarried a plastic surgeon, she now has three [terrible] stepbrothers. Ash is just counting down the days until she starts college.

I'm totally invested in the story. I need to see people pay, and I love what I've seen so far. I totally understand Ash's position. I also get Winston's – but what I need to see is that they come together. I need to see all the bad guys punished. I need the Constantines to accept Ash, to actually accept her place in their lives.

The sexy scenes are hot. They're degrading. They're filthy. Ash and Win totally complement one another, and I'm rooting for the happy ending. I need the third book!

Prince Charming is the follow-up to Stroke of Midnight. You should read these in the order that the author intended to completely understand the storyline.

Winston has finally found someone that is completely willing to play the degrading games he craves. But that's all it can be… or is it so much more than he ever expected? Ash is willing to play the games that Winston wants in exchange for money for college. She's having fun and falling for Winston in ways that she never saw coming. The Terror Triplets, her stepbrothers, keep trying to ruin her at every turn, but can Winston stop them?

I am so very invested in this story. I need to know where it goes next. I love the softer side of Winston he only shows to Ash. The sex scenes are explosive between them. This one is definitely a series you need in your life.

I don’t want to clean.

I want to sit behind a desk and crunch numbers. Talk shop. Plan expansions. My dad is an economic analyst, which is what I want to be too. I’d always imagined us going into business together and heading up our own firm.

Cleaning won’t get me there.

I suppose playing nice with Manda the Maneater is my only resort at this point.

For the next hour, I rush through all the offices that don’t need much more than the trash cans emptied, and then make it to the CEO’s office. One day, I’ll have an office like Winston Constantine, but I won’t be some old fuddy duddy. I’ll be a boss babe with style. My employees will love me, because I imagine I’ll be cool as hell. Rather than hire a boring interior designer like whatever robot chose the furniture and décor for Halcyon, I’ll do it all myself.

I’m once again daydreaming of my future that seems more and more murky these days as I fumble through my email on my phone to find the code to get into Big Man’s office. Of all the offices, this one is the coldest and most boring. As though whoever Winston Constantine is, he doesn’t do any sort of work, but instead gazes out the windows all day.

Finally, I locate the code and punch it in.

It’s like twelve numbers long, and I fail a few times before it grants me entry. With a sigh of frustration, I push the door open and drag my rolling cart in after me into the dark office. I hit the light switch with my elbow and leave my cart in front of the door to prop it open. I fidget with the dumb uniform skirt I have to wear and wonder if anyone would notice if I wore jeans instead.

I grab the duster and make a beeline over to the painting on the wall. It’s the best part of the office besides the cool desk that moves up and down and the windows overlooking the most picturesque parts of New York City. I touch the bottom of the frame to check for dust. As I imagined it to be, there’s not a speck.

I’m just moving to the bookshelves when I hear a creak.

“You’re supposed to clean it, not pretend,” a deep, furious voice growls, scaring the ever-loving shit out of me.

“What the fuck, man?” I snap, whirling around, dropping my duster in the process. “You can’t just sneak up…” I trail off as I drink in the man sitting in the desk chair.

Holy shit.

Was he here the whole time?

Fucking creepy!

But there’s nothing creepy about his looks. He’s not a fuddy duddy either, if this is Winston Constantine. He’s fine as hell.

Older. Dressed to the nines in a three-piece navy suit that looks custom-tailored and expensive. A handsome, villainous smirk on his face. His dark blond hair is shorter on the sides and longer on top, styled perfectly, making it look as though he came from a photoshoot at Gucci or something. Just enough scruff to give him an edge despite his otherwise clean-cut appearance. It’s his eyes that are mesmerizing.

Dark blue. Intense. Penetrating.

For some reason, it makes me think about my ex-boyfriend, Tate. The exact opposite of this man. Soft and sweet and gullible. Tate and I were a high school thing, but the moment we graduated a couple of weeks ago, we amicably broke it off knowing we were headed in different directions. This guy looks anything but soft, sweet, or gullible.

He looks scary.

Scary hot.

But still scary.

I clear my throat. “Sorry. I’ll just empty your trash and be out of your way.”

“No,” he rumbles, his voice dripping in a menacing tone. “I’ve been waiting for you. It’s time we chat, little girl.”

What would you do for money? Would you degrade yourself or walk away? Ash Elliott has got to find a way to make money to cover her college or lose it altogether. Cleaning the luxury business offices of the Constantine family is not going to get her the money. But when Winston Constantine makes her an offer, even though it is a sick one, she can't refuse.

Winston Constantine usually gets what he wants, when he offers Ash money to do certain things, he thinks she will refuse, but she talks back to him and does them anyway. This makes him happy to pay her whatever price she asks for.

While Winston and Ash continue with this whatever you want to call it relationship, her triplet stepbrothers are a terror to her. They try to control her in every way. All Ash wants to do is get away from them and go to college. And with Winston's depraved help, she just might be able to.

This story is different, but nothing you shouldn't expect from author K. Webster. It is taboo, a little dark, with a Cinderella twist. I found that I liked Winston and Ash; yes, I dated an older guy before and saw nothing wrong with their relationship. I wasn't crazy about some of the things Winston wanted her to do, but that is just me. I really liked the story overall and cannot wait for the next one to see what happens. So if you like K. Webster and her dark, taboo stories then you will enjoy this one too.

K. Webster hits another home run with the new series Cinderella. Stroke of Midnight is the first book in the series, a 2020 take on a classic tale.

Winston Constantine owns the city. His name alone demands respect. Money can buy you anything: your fantasies, your enemies, and your happiness. Winston demands order. When he finds his current office cleaner isn't doing the job to his expectations, he confronts her. Planning on embarrassing her and firing her and the company that employs her, his plans are derailed when he sees her face to face for the first time.

Ash Elliott thought her college tuition was going to be paid for until her father took most of that money to shower it onto his new wife. Now it's on her to pay for college and taking the cleaning job was her way to do it. Doing anything she can to get away from her evil stepmother and her awful triplet stepbrothers, who make her skin crawl. When Winston Constantine confronts her for slacking on her job, he demands things from her she isn't sure she's willing to do, but when he offers money for each thing she does to embarrass herself, she finds it turns her on as much as it disgusts her.

I was instantly invested into this story. I have to know how it plays out in the next installment.

The Glass Queen is the second book in the series The Forest of Good and Evil and can be read as a standalone with no issues. This was my first book in the fairy tale retelling series by Gena Showalter, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to grab The Evil Queen (book #1).

I was expecting a paranormally themed Cinderella. I didn't have high expectations as many Cinderella retellings have been disappointing, but this was an awesome departure from the norm! The Little Cinder Girl can be linked to anyone in the world of Enchantia. A world where trolls, shape shifters, witches & warlocks, dragons, mages, and everything in between lives. Magic is the norm, and oracles are sought after. As such, each kingdom has its own royal family and it just so happens that Ashleigh's father is the King of The Provence of Fleur. One would think this would make her a powerful princess; unfortunately, that title holds no power to the sickly, weak girl. A father who hates her, no friend outside of her mother, how is this girl supposed to survive?

Prince Saxon Skylair of the Avian Mountains hasn't had an easy life; exiled from his home at an early age, he was taken in by friends to make a life. Knowing his place in the family, he needs to prove himself to take his rightful place.

These are just simple summaries of the main characters, and in no way truly convey all that is going on. Enemies to the core, only one knows why. I loved the twists and turns, the constant questioning of the prophecies. I loved the way everything came together; I even loved the cheesiness as I am expecting it from a young adult novel. Above all, I want to read about the next retelling as I liked these characters!

“Don’t take this personally, but fairy tales are not my thing,” he replied, his tone wry.

“How do you know that for certain?” she countered, a flirtatious glimmer now sparking in her amber eyes. “If you leave right now, you’ll never know if something magical might happen tonight.”

He huffed out a laugh at her whimsical, romantic notion, though the sound that erupted from his throat was as rough as sandpaper. “I’m not looking for anything magical to happen.” In fact, he’d do his best to avoid anything even remotely close to it.

She shrugged a smooth, bare shoulder. “Sometimes, it’s better to leave all expectations and cynicism at the door and just see where the evening takes you.”

He shook his head in disagreement. “Trust me when I say my cynicism is well earned.” And now he was determined that all that skepticism would protect what little was left of his soul from being further ransacked. “I was happy to come and support the Wilder Way Foundation, and now that I’ve done that, I think it’s best if I go. Good night, Tempest.”

He started to walk away, but she grabbed at his tuxedo sleeve. “Remy, wait.”

Not wanting to be rude, he stopped and glanced back at her.

The smile she gave him was so sweet and persuasive it made something in his chest shift ever so slightly. “You can’t leave without having at least one dance.”

Oh, yes, he could, and he shored up his resolve against that imploring look of hers. “I don’t dance.”

The hand on his arm slid down, until her cool, slender fingers curled around his, not only startling him but ensnaring him in more ways than one. “It’s a ballad,” she pointed out of the song Raevynn Walsh was now singing. “Everyone can slow dance. It takes minimal skill... unless you don’t trust yourself to stand that close to me?”

Her comment was underscored with a subtle challenge, an undeniable dare that alluded to the attraction between them that was getting increasingly difficult for him to resist.

“Just one dance,” she persisted oh so sweetly, her husky voice taking on a teasing lilt as she leaned in closer. "I solemnly promise not to cast any kind of fairy-tale spell on you."

Bold and determined Tempest Wilder didn't give him another chance to turn her down. With her hand secured in his, she pulled him toward the dance floor in front of the stage, which was already filled with other couples, and he would have looked like a jackass if he rebuffed her at this point. Once she found a spot for the two of them, she turned back around and didn’t hesitate to step as close as their bodies would allow.

The provocative feel of her soft breasts pressing against his chest and her supple thighs skimming along his was like a fucking shock to his celibate system, and he automatically tensed in response to the sexy female curves aligning perfectly to his more masculine frame. It was all he could do to keep his dick from getting hard as a spike against her lower stomach.

Still holding his one hand, she smoothed her other one up the lapel of his jacket and around his neck. Clearly sensing his discomfort, she tipped her head back and gave him a flirty smile, no doubt meant to tease him.

“So, when it comes to slow dancing, the man usually puts his arm around the woman’s waist,” she suggested, since he hadn’t yet done so. “And if he really likes the woman he’s with, he’ll splay his hand low on her back and pull her in close.”

Oh, he knew how to slow dance, but just the thought of putting his hands on her so intimately was wreaking havoc with his libido, and he had a feeling she was well aware of his predicament, too. It was another sexy dare from her, and while he’d spent the past few years avoiding this kind of close contact with Tempest, the sexually starved man in him who desired this woman slipped past all his carefully erected walls.

Fuck it, he decided. What could happen in a room full of people? Giving in to the temptation to touch her, to enjoy the feel of her in his arms, even for a few minutes, he placed his hand on her bare back and slowly caressed his palm all the way down to the base of her spine. The subtle pressure of his hand against her smooth skin drew her as close as the two of them could get, aligning their hips in a way that was suggestively carnal.

“You’re bad,” he murmured, shocking himself with his own playful response when he’d been so indifferent to women for years. It was as though this woman was rousing his sex drive, along with a more indulgent part of him, from a long, deep slumber. The thought was both frightening and exhilarating.

She drew her head back and laughed. To his surprise, the light, sensual sound eased the rest of the tension in his body, allowing him to just enjoy the moment with her.

She gave him a cheeky grin. “Just for the record, Mr. Lowell, I can be very bad, depending on the circumstance.”

This is the third book in the series, and I have to admit is my first read, but you can rest assured that I will be going back and catching up! Even if I know how those relationships end up, I am sure that the journey will be worth following.

Here we get Hunter and Maddux Wilder's little sister, Tempest, getting her fairy tale being told. It is loosely based on Lady and the Tramp, and any fan of the tale will be delighted at the scene which gives us the classic moment from that film. I absolutely loved the set up for that, and for the whole romance. These are two people who have made huge successes of their lives thanks to their hard work, and in Tempest's case, with the support of her brothers. I love the details about her current business and how that has made her comfortable with herself as a sensual woman. Her new bar/hotel project will bring fairy tales to life for guests, of that there is no doubt. Her brothers' friend, Remy, is the man to deliver her new project and at same time, they discover that there is magic between them. Both nervous of making the commitment to pursue it, they first give in to the chemistry and work on the rest.

It is a really fun, sweet story, and readers who have read the previous two linked stories will enjoy meeting up with the brothers' fiancées as they form a new Wilder family unit.

Tempest is amazing at setting up fundraisers and planning great parties. With her brothers in her corner, she knows that she can do anything. The one thing she's not too sure on is her lingering crush on her brothers' friend, Remy. He's yummy and while he might be a bit damaged, she can't deny her attraction to him.

Remy is just trying to get through each day. Still wary of any type of relationship after being divorced in a very demeaning manner, Remy knows that Tempest is someone he should stay away from. Remy respects her brothers a lot and feels like he owes them a lot since they helped him rebuild his business. But while attending a fundraiser, he can't help but notice Tempest.

These two dance around each other, and while they have amazing chemistry, both are slightly wary at first. Do they have enough time to devote to each other? Can Remy let go of his past, which brings along a lot of unresolved issues? This was a sweet, quick read that had a lot going on. But it never felt rushed or unfinished. I really enjoyed this.
