As the woman checked her list, the man stared up. “Are you the dickhead who thinks my art is shit?”

Mercury took a step away. “I don’t think I said that. I presume you’re Grim.”

“Fucking right I am.”

He appeared fit to burst.

“I haven’t even seen it yet,” Mercury said. “Calm yourself.”

“Fucking rich kids. You think you’re so superior, don’t you?”

Mercury burst into laughter. It echoed around the room, causing people to stare.

“Take a look around you, Grim. This is the Tate Modern, for fuck’s sake. Everyone is rich.”

The clipboard woman ushered them in.

“What a dick,” Mercury said.

“Let’s do a quick circuit and go,” Lotty replied. “He must be constantly checking his own name on insta. You only just posted it, for goodness’ sake.”

Mercury shrugged. “Imagine being so touchy you’re vanity scrolling instead of enjoying the big moment. Weird.”

They approached the first canvas. It was brilliant white with a thin blue line down the centre.

“This is called Orgasm,” Mercury said.

He and Lotty stared.

“I don’t get it,” Lotty said immediately.

An impossibly chic woman in Chanel glided past. She glanced at them. “Is there any food?”

“I think so,” Lotty replied.

“Might as well make the trip worthwhile.”

She left them to it. In fact, the tunnel of focus had become one of emptiness. Most people had aborted mission.

“I’m following her,” Lotty said. “That crowd will strip the buffet in minutes. You coming?”

Mercury shook his head. “I’ll catch you up. I want to get a few shots.”

Lotty grinned. “Play nice.”

“Always.”

He wandered farther into the tunnel. Each canvas was a variation on a theme, brilliant white with a different coloured line daubed down the centre.

Mercury snapped away.

Who the fuck is going to buy these?

His mother had an art collection to rival a minor royal’s, meaning Mercury had grown up around true talent. Somehow he didn’t think Madeline and her cronies would be scrambling to buy this utter crap anytime soon.

At the end hung Poverty. This time a brown line bisected the white.

“I hope that’s paint,” Mercury muttered to himself.

Perhaps it was time to check out the food. It was evident the “art” wouldn’t get any better.

He turned to see the hulking figure of Grim standing between him and the exit. Alarmingly, it appeared they were the only ones in the tunnel. And Grim certainly had his focus on Mercury.

“What are you going to do?” Mercury asked. “Beat me up because I said something nasty?”

“You’ve made everyone think I’m a right twat,” Grim said, approaching Mercury, who involuntarily took another step away.

“I’ve done nothing of the sort. If you hadn’t pounced literally seconds after I posted it, you wouldn’t have looked so ridiculous.”

Grim clenched and unclenched his fists.

For a split second, Mercury feared he was going to be murdered in the Tate Modern.

Typical of my luck that they’d find my body next to some really terrible art.

People were standing close to the tunnel entrance and evidently unaware or unconcerned that Mercury was trapped.

“How about I give you a glowing review on my channel?” Mercury asked.

“You think I give a fuck what stuck-up wankers like you have to say?”

Mercury raised an eyebrow. “Well, something’s got you riled up.”

“I’ll show you riled up, you posh twat.”

In a split second, Grim grabbed the half-drunk glass of red from Mercury’s hand and threw the contents at Poverty.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Mercury yelped.

Grim dropped the glass at Mercury’s feet. Suddenly his leering face transformed into one of devastation. He backed away, his hands up.

“You… you made it clear you didn’t like my art. You didn’t have to ruin it.”

“Wait—”

It was pointless. Grim had reached the entrance to the tunnel. Mercury chased after him. When he got to the exit, a group of people huddled around Grim.

“What’s the matter?” a particularly snide art critic asked.

“That man,” Grim roared, pointing at Mercury. “He’s destroyed my work!”

Suddenly, all eyes were on Mercury.

“I’m calling the police,” someone with a name badge said.

“The police?” Mercury cried. His legs wobbled as he clutched the side of the stupid tunnel of focus.

What am I going to do?

4.5 stars of absolute goodness!

This is the seventh book in the series, and really, I love them all!

We are treated to Mercury's story this time – but Mrs. Wimpole and the Professor also make an appearance, as do some of our earlier couples... I will say no more!

Mercury finds himself accused of a crime he did not commit, but in order to reduce the embarrassment to his famous actress mum, he pleads guilty and ends up with community service. And this is where he meets the most delicious, Nick Campbell.

Whilst their chemistry is sizzling, their lives could not be further apart, so there are more than a few stumbling blocks for these two men to overcome in their journey to a happily ever after. I really enjoyed how we got to know the youngsters who spent time at the Bodhi house, and that Mercury recognised just how much privilege he had experienced.

Nick may have overreacted to someone's cruel statements, but it forced Mercury to think very seriously about who he really wanted to be. He woke up the wider possibilities for his life and knew that Nick should be a part of his future.

This is the sixth and final book in the series – and not only does it give us a really lovely story to end on, but it also makes sure that the rest of the couples take part in the mission to give these two guys a second chance.

Mack and Davey divorced mostly because Mack forced Davey to choose between his career and his family. Davey chose his career, because that is how he believed he brought value to their family. Neither were happy about it, and when Davey is not at work, he spends it in the spare room of their family home, so he can still see their children. This time he also sees Mack go out on a date... spurring him to think about whether he can really live without him!

With some help, and some non-help from Art in particular, the two men separately try and get help from their mutual friends to make the other see that they should be together. It is a square that needs to be circled, and yet it takes some home truths for them both to understand what changes could be needed to get a fresh start.

I really enjoyed the humour which is brought by the chat groups, the passion which spills over even when they are trying to be sensible, and the clear evidence that they love each other, but communicate poorly.

Very enjoyable end to the series, thank you, Saxon James – already looking forward to the next one!

I struggle with how many stars to rate this book. I have been soooo excited for this last book. If you've read previous books in the series, you have been waiting patiently to see if Mack and Davey get back together. We all know this is a second-chance book and we all want them to get back together. But what I personally didn't want was to rehash the same stuff over and over and over again the first sixty percent of the book. It was tiring, frustrating, and I just wanted someone in the DMC to stick Mack and Davey in a room and say hash this out and don't come out until you do.

My heart did break for both Davey and Mack. You can tell they both still love each other and they both want to be together. But instead of being adults and talking things out, they both had ideas on how to get the other back and things just spun in a circle too long in the book. One simple, honest conversation could have spared them and the reader all the BS.

I did like how Mack was finally able to wake up and figure out he needed to work on himself. Mack was a mess, who throws out divorce as an option and then doesn't say wait I really don't want one but I'm serious about things needing to change? Two years of being miserable for not being able to communicate.

When Davey and Mack both got their heads out of their butts and finally admitted what each were feeling and wanted, the book got much better. They were both still not communicating like they should since they were both still thinking of ways to solve things but not hashing it out with each other.

In the end it all worked out. We got a good epilogue on them and the other DMC members. I hate that the series is over and that the last book didn't go out with a bang but I hope a new series is in the works.

Forgotten Romance is the sixth and final installment in the Divorced Men's Club.

Davey and Mack are ending their marriage in the beginning of the book. They loved each other more than anything, but at that time in their marriage they both needed different things that they weren't getting from the other. Davey was the sole provider and his work had him leaving for two weeks at a time. Mack was home with two small children alone. Mack felt Davey was putting his work over their family and Mack just wanted him to be there for the family more. Davey worked hard to be where he was in his job. He was working so hard to make a wonderful life for his family, but at what cost? When Mack said they should divorce, he didn't truly want that and Davey would do anything (but leave his job) to make Mack happy, so he agreed. Mack needed Davey to choose the family and when he didn't, Mack was devastated. They agreed that to make it easier for the kids, they would continue to live together when Davey was home for those two weeks each month.

Davey and Mack don't want to go on like they are. They each want to show the other they want their relationship back and enlist the rest of the DMC to help. Honestly, the book could have been completed with one simple conversation, but I loved how it all played out. I have been rooting for these two since the beginning, they so deserved their happily ever after. I enjoyed getting to see the rest of the DMC and their partners in this final book. I'm sad to see it's over but I truly enjoyed the ride to get here.

As Marcus used the keycard to open the door, Dane explained, “Because I intended to make love to you tonight, but since it happened, I thought you deserved to know. Do you still wish to make love?”

Just as Dane asked, two women walked by dressed as Wilma and Betty from The Flintstones for the Howl at the Moon party. The caveman/sasquatch/werewolf theme allowed shifters to let their fur down while a shifter rock band provided live entertainment. The women had obviously overheard Dane because they giggled.

Cheeks warming, Marcus looked at the retreating women then smiled at Dane and hesitated, the door half open. “But you wanted me before that... right?”

He hated how he’d caused doubts for his mate. Wanting to reassure him, he placed a hand on his chest. “I cannot lie to you, heart of mine. I always want you. I want to make love.” That was something Dane had never done before. “The passing whiff of incubi pheromones just made the want more... urgent, if you will. I’ve been half-hard ever since and with our bed so close, the urgency has only increased.”

Dane ran both hands over Marcus’s chest, the soft white linen of their funeral attire scratching his palms as he deliberately teased his mate’s sensitive nipples. “I will not lie to you, Marcus. I cannot. Being in Nathan’s presence always runs the risk of affecting me. If he feels or senses desire, his demon side responds, and therefore I will feel it, sometimes even when he has a shield up, like tonight. But know this, it is you that I want. It has only been you since I first laid eyes on you. Only you, Marcus. Do you understand?”

“I do.” And his entire body seemed to uncoil, right before Dane’s eyes.

“Now let us retire to our cabin, darling.”

“Where you’ll make love to me?”

“I will.”

As he slipped into the cabin, Marcus smiled so wide his eyes creased and almost disappeared.

But something he’d said dawned on Dane. “I enjoy bottoming and I know you let me take you our first time, but is it something you enjoy?”

Chewing his lower lip, Marcus nodded, then he hastily pulled Dane all the way into the cabin and shut the door before anyone else could walk by and overhear their intimate conversation. A small desk lamp provided the only light besides the stars and moon in the porthole window, but Dane could see the sudden fire in Marcus’s dark gaze.

“Yeah, I do like bottoming,” Marcus whispered, as if they weren’t alone. “But I had a question first.”

“What’s that?” Dane queried, toeing off his shoes and kicking them out of the way.

“Can you...?” Marcus hesitated, cheeks darkening. “In your... true form. Can you, I mean, do you have... um, you know?”

Dane grinned. “Is everything in proper working order in my true form?”

Gaze hungry, Marcus chewed his lower lip again, nodding.

“I assure you everything works, though it is much larger. Why? Would you like me to fuck you while I am in my true form?”

This is the fourth book in the series. While I have enjoyed this series, I'm starting to lose interest for some reason and I honestly don't know why. I liked Marcus but I didn't really like Dane – he refused his mate, who does that? And he was kind of a jerk and hard to like. Dane finally gets his head out of his butt. They do figure things out after facing danger and all the twist and turns of their journey, and finally get their happily ever after.

When Harry Met Arlo

I instantly loved Arlo. I hated how his brothers acted like he couldn't do anything on his own. Was he accident prone? Sure, but he didn't need to be watched like they did in my opinion.

Harry was a former player who wanted to find love and deleted all his dating apps. His BFF, Gordy, Arlo's brother, didn't think he'd change his player ways and, of course, warned him off both of his brothers. Brothers who no one believed were real until this book.

I loved how Harry was so kind and gentle with Arlo about his anxiety reading his book in front of others. Harry sitting in that audience with the kids just melted my heart. Every. Damn. Time. I wish we could have seen the drawings Arlo did – they sounded amazing. And the whole time I was reading the book I was thinking about this page I follow on TikTok, thesavbananas. check them out, they are hilarious!

This was a sweet, low angst (only angst was Arlo's brother not knowing about the relationship and then being told in an odd way), opposites attract book. Fast, easy, light read.

Arlo is Gordon's shy nerdy brother. He's an author and wrote a children's book about Gordon and the rest of the Banana Ball teams. When he has to read in front of people, he's terrified but Harrison steps in to help him and calm him down. Arlo can't be nervous with Harrison sitting with the kids, grinning at him. Gordon can warn him away all he wants but Arlo falls for Harrison hard. He's the first person that sees Arlo for who he is and not how nerdy and clumsy he can be. Can they make Gordon see what they have is real?

I loved this second installment of this series. Banana Ball is amazing to watch in real life and to get a series based on it is even better. Harrison and Arlo were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was explosive and so sweet. Harrison wanted to protect Arlo but not hold him back from living like his brothers do.

I can't wait to see what's next for this team!

Bromantic Puckboy is the sixth book in the Puckboys series. It can be read as a standalone without issue but with this series, I highly recommend reading the series in the order that the authors intended to get the full effect of the Collective and their friendships.

Cody Bilson has a relationship issue. He's been married four times to women he thought were The One. When it all becomes too much, he requests a trade from Seattle. When he lands in Nashville, he wants it to be his new beginning – for him to not jump into a relationship and mix sex with love. So trying to refrain is the only way he thinks it will work. Being the new guy on the team is tough even if he's been in the league for years, making friends with the new goalie seems like a safe place to start. Taking Miles under his wing is easy, he enjoys the banter and quirky goalie. As their friendship grows, Miles tries to help him out with a suggestion that won't lead to marriage, blow off steam with a man... him. Neither Cody nor Miles is gay but there are definitely some gray areas in their relationship. When Cody takes Miles up on his offer, they agree to not let it get awkward; but what happens when feelings get involved and everything isn't as straight as they thought?

I adored their story. I loved all of Miles’ little quirks and Cody just accepting them for what they were. I was brought to tears when Miles tells his parents about their relationship. It was written very well. I love a successful coming out scene! The chemistry they shared was so easy and explosive. They were never awkward or weird being with a man for the first time, it just worked.

I can't wait for what's next!!

Bromantic Puckboy is the sixth installment of the Puckboys series. While it can easily be read as a standalone, it's best to read in order for optimal emotional payoff, as past narrators have cameos and their stories would be spoiled if read out of order.

Not gonna lie, it was a struggle for my head to keep which narrator was which. Bilson and Miles looked the same to me, or read in the same tone. All through the book, I kept having to either page-back to see who was listed as the narrator or use context clues. There were no narrator changes during the chapter but my mind just couldn't keep which narrator was speaking. A combo of their names and near similar voices.

Low drama. Slow-burn romance. Insta-lust.

Both Miles and Bilson were sweethearts. Charming. Awkward. Eccentric. Add in a ratdog and the warm and fuzzy quotient goes through the roof. Realistic stumbling blocks versus manufactured drama.

Bilson is escaping the city where all four of his ex-wives dwell, while attempting to learn from his mistakes.

Miles is a rookie goalie with a strong sense of family.

Both believe they're straight and come to realize they're actually bi in exactly the same way, with no internal struggles.

The sweethearts were super cute, fun, and endearing. This made for a warm and fuzzy read with no drama. Everyone was super supportive with no outside forces at play.

While I enjoyed the lighthearted journey, Miles and Bilson were a bit too much alike, thought processes and speech, so it was like they were the same character but Miles had pet rocks and a fam, while Bilson had a dog and a bunch of ex-wives, and everything else was the same.

It was cute and light, endearing with some humor, but not that deep.

I will say I haven't read any of the previous books and I was still able to enjoy this book.

Bilson and Miles captured my heart from the very beginning. I loved watching these two and their bromance blossom into so much more. I loved their silliness, their chemistry, and their journey. Each of them was missing something and needed each other more than they knew. Bilson and Miles just melted my heart.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the sixth book in this series, and a really fun addition to it. Miles and Bilson are just such a fabulous mix of eager new first team goalie, and running from his romantic past experienced NHL veteran, which works from a sports perspective as well as from the bromance one!

There is so much comedic gold in this book, and it will be best experienced fresh, so I will say no more. But alongside the silliness, there is a gorgeous story of friendship, of two people really caring about each other, and of realising much about themselves and each other. It is low angst, delicious intimacy, and has the perfect outcome.

I read it straight through in one go, as I had to know just how Eden Finley and Saxon James were going to give them, and us, just what was needed – mission accomplished, lovely story – and one to go on my reread pile, as it will never fail to raise a smile. Thank you!
