Totally Geeked by Becca Jackson Blog Tour

Blog Tour. Becca Jackson’s Totally Geeked.

Harrison’s love life is a parade of fun, flirty encounters thanks to every dating app you can imagine, but nothing sticks. Finally, sick of the endless cycle of Friday night hookups, he hits uninstall on the apps and challenges the universe to show him that he deserves someone better.

What he didn’t expect was the universe throwing him a curveball in the form of his best friend’s younger brother. Despite being best friends with Gordon for years, he’s never actually met his siblings and even half-joked they didn’t exist.

But there they are, at a party at Gordon’s place, and one brother, Arlo, is seriously hard to ignore. He’s nothing like Gordon. Quiet, adorable, and totally off-limits… which sucks. But when Harrison spots an opportunity to help him steady his nerves on his children’s book tour, he jumps at the chance to get to know him better, because spending time with him feels like the most right thing he’s done in forever.

The more time they spend together, the less Harrison can imagine being with anyone else. But going after what he wants means betraying his best friend. Can he find the courage to catch life’s most unexpected of pitches?

When Harry Met Arlo

While Noah was a ball of energy at the outset, Arlo clutches a book against his front with his casted hand like it could somehow create a barrier between him and everything else in the world.

“I’m Harrison, but my friends call me Harry,” I say, and he turns toward me. His big gorgeous blue eyes lock on mine and my stomach does a weird spinny thing. I really should have eaten before I came.

“Hi,” he almost whispers, pulling his hand free of his brother and using it to tuck his red hair behind his ears. He really doesn’t look much like Gordon at all, not like Noah. They both have the same flame red hair, sure. But Arlo’s is long, and hangs loosely around his face like a curtain he can hide behind, it contrasts beautifully with his porcelain skin and bright blue eyes and I find myself unable to look away.

He’s giving me a half smile. One corner of his lips picked up and it’s fucking adorable as hell. No, not adorable. You can’t be thinking Gordon’s little brother is adorable. He’s off-limits. But… he is adorable. And he needs your help. Gordon would want you to help his little brother, wouldn’t he?

Angie☆☆☆☆
I instantly loved Arlo. I hated how his brothers acted like he couldn't do anything on his own. Was he accident prone? Sure, but he didn't need to be watched like they did in my opinion.

Harry was a former player who wanted to find love and deleted all his dating apps. His BFF, Gordy, Arlo's brother, didn't think he'd change his player ways and, of course, warned him off both of his brothers. Brothers who no one believed were real until this book.

I loved how Harry was so kind and gentle with Arlo about his anxiety reading his book in front of others. Harry sitting in that audience with the kids just melted my heart. Every. Damn. Time. I wish we could have seen the drawings Arlo did – they sounded amazing. And the whole time I was reading the book I was thinking about this page I follow on TikTok, thesavbananas. check them out, they are hilarious!

This was a sweet, low angst (only angst was Arlo's brother not knowing about the relationship and then being told in an odd way), opposites attract book. Fast, easy, light read.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Harrison is known as the team’s playboy. He sleeps around and is never looking for anything serious and that's okay with him… until recently. He has started wanting more. A relationship and not just a hookup. When his best friend's (Gordon) brother, Arlo, shows up to a party and feels out of place, Harrison spends the evening talking to him about his book and life. Quickly the night passes and Harrison realizes what a good evening he's had. BUT nothing can happen between them. Gordon has warned Harrison to stay away from his brother and told Arlo to stay away from Harrison. Harrison doesn't try to go after Arlo, but he promises to be there for him when he has to do a reading of his book. Slowly their friendship develops into so much more.

Arlo is Gordon's shy nerdy brother. He's an author and wrote a children's book about Gordon and the rest of the Banana Ball teams. When he has to read in front of people, he's terrified but Harrison steps in to help him and calm him down. Arlo can't be nervous with Harrison sitting with the kids, grinning at him. Gordon can warn him away all he wants but Arlo falls for Harrison hard. He's the first person that sees Arlo for who he is and not how nerdy and clumsy he can be. Can they make Gordon see what they have is real?

I loved this second installment of this series. Banana Ball is amazing to watch in real life and to get a series based on it is even better. Harrison and Arlo were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was explosive and so sweet. Harrison wanted to protect Arlo but not hold him back from living like his brothers do.

I can't wait to see what's next for this team!

“So your flirting was attracting Porsche men?” Arlo asks. “Exactly. But I need someone with substance. I need to find me a nice Buick guy.” “My grandfather drove a Buick. It’s still in my garage.”

Whiskey Business by Becca Jackson Blog Tour

Blog Tour. Becca Jackson’s Whiskey Business.

ARI

When Marcus suggests we make a bet and if I win I get his ex’s ticket on a four day cruise, I’m not sure he’s for real. He doesn’t like to gamble and he hates to lose even more than I do. Yet, the allure of sharing a room with him for four glorious days is too tempting to resist.

To my surprise, I win, and Marcus doesn't resist the outcome. It's almost like he actually wanted to lose. But that would be crazy, right?

Things take an even wilder turn when Marcus's mom mistakes me for his fiancé, and neither of us corrects her. Now, his whole family believes we're engaged, and we're caught in a tangled mess of lies, with even his brother and our friends joining the charade.

Amidst the chaos, I have to admit that this plan might just be the best idea I've ever had. Well, except for our little rehearsal of a staged kiss, just in case we need to perform it in front of his family.

That was the best idea ever, because with his hands on my waist and his mouth on mine I’m starting to think this fake relationship might be more real than either of us thought.

But when a past hookup threatens to expose everything, it forces Marcus to choose between revealing the truth or pretending I'm just like his former flame.

Can our fake relationship survive reality, or will it crumble under the weight of secrets and revelations?

ARI

The tall, glass building of my family’s law firm never looked more ominous than it does right now. I’m standing at the doors, far enough away that I don’t obstruct the other people making their way in, but close enough that every time the doors open I get a glimpse of the security check and reception desk. People scramble past to get inside, none of them paying me much attention. Why would they? It’s not like my name is on the building–oh, wait, it is, but I haven’t been here in years. If I had my way, I’d never be back here again. But I made a deal and I never back out on a deal.

Five years ago I stood in his office, way up there on the sixty-first floor, and promised that when I returned I’d be everything he wanted me to be. I’d be done embarrassing him, be ready to take my place beside him at Finch and Finch and continue to build up the respectable name. The firm he and my grandfather started. I’m nowhere near ready. These last five years only proved one thing; I’ll never be the man he wants me to be.

I pull at my tie; it’s like a noose around my neck, squeezing tighter and tighter the longer I stall.

I should just go inside. I have to face what’s coming, but I can’t convince my feet to move. I free the tie and ball it up in my pocket. I use my other hand to unbutton the neck of my shirt and as I squeeze it tighter, air rushes into my lungs, bringing a modicum of relief.

How do I do this?

My phone vibrates in my pocket and I pull it out, hands shaking.

MARCUS: I just found out that there is a ’60s theme night on this thing. Costumes will be required. Are you sure you still want to go?

Marcus out of a suit and in hippy bell bottoms and a silk shirt? Hell yes I’m sure I want to go.

ARI: Leave the costumes to me. We’ll be the best dressed on the cruise. They have prizes for that, right?

MARCUS: No idea about the prizes, but you’ll be in for a challenge if you want to win, some of the family are in the theatre, so they’ll bring it.

ARI: Oh, I love a challenge.

MARCUS: I’m well aware of that.

My hands are no longer shaking as I lock my phone and slip it back into my pocket. This cruise is going to be amazing. Four days of face to face time with Marcus, could a guy wish for anything more? I look up at the building again and it somehow doesn't seem so sinister. Maybe I can do this.

I prop my head on my hand, and Mom rubs my back. “How do I make this better for Ari?” “You can only be there for him. We can’t fix the people around us, only help lift them when they fall.”

This is the third book in the Love in No Man's Land series, and I would definitely recommend that you read them in order, as the books follow on from each other and the characters are developing as the series continues.

Marcus and Ari have been skirting around their attraction to each other for a while, but Ari knows he is on a time limit and Marcus has just come out of a horrible relationship, so best not to act on the attraction. That is, until Marcus has to go on a family cruise... and cannot face it alone. He lets Ari persuade him into a bet which will pretty much guarantee he has a companion for the trip.

Cue an amusing misunderstanding which has them sharing a bed and being assumed to be engaged by Marcus's family. Suddenly they take a chance on that chemistry and we get to watch as they iron out some of the issues before they can really consider a future together.

Another fun installment, with plenty of catching up with friends from earlier books and the reassurance that there is no time limit on happiness.

Angie☆☆☆☆
This is the third book in the series. I have read the previous books, so I felt even more connected to all the characters. I just love Marcus and Ari. They have always had an attraction for each other from afar in previous books and I'm glad they finally got their happily ever after. This book was a fast read, and I enjoyed every second of it. I loved how wonderful Marcus's family was to Ari before and after they learned the whole truth. I have never been on a cruise but after reading this book I think it might be fun to go on one. The only thing missing about this book was I wanted to see more of what happened after the cruise. I really, really wanted more about Ari and his dad, more detail, more on page. I hope there is another book coming because I really enjoy this series.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Whiskey Business is the third installment in the Love in No Man's Land series. It should be read in the order the author intended as the story carries through each book.

Marcus has just come from a horrible breakup and has to go on a family-planned cruise. Marcus has yet to tell his family he is no longer engaged. When the perfect drunken bet comes up between Marcus and Ari, Marcus knows he wants Ari with him and doesn't want to face his family alone. What Marcus doesn't expect is for Ari to claim to be his long-lost fiancé that his family has never met. What started out as a fake relationship quickly finds its way into real territory.

I loved watching Marcus and Ari fall for each other. We've seen Ari's attraction to Marcus in past books and to see him finally showing Marcus that'd he'd just about do anything for him. Marcus has reasons to have his walls up but something about Ari easily breaks down every wall he's built around his heart. Super cute read. I can't wait for more from this series!

I’m supposed to be the flirty one and he’s supposed to be struggling to resist my charms, so why is it I’m the one falling all over himself?

The Half Baked Plan by Becca Jackson

Now Available! Becca Jackson’s The Half Baked Plan.

LUCAS

Fire took out my business, my apartment and almost my life a few weeks back, and now I’m living in my best friend’s house while I rebuild, and he travels the world. He found his perfect match and now It’s time I found mine.

After years on my own, I want a family, but I have zero hope in finding my match while I’m still completely crushing on the hottest builder in the world, and to make matters worse, he’s now my roommate.

I thought sharing a house with Carter would help me get over him. I’d see why he’s never had a boyfriend, or anyone worth bringing around town. I’d discover all of his faults up close and squash the perfect god-like image I’ve cemented in my mind all these years.

Problem is, no matter what annoying habits I jot down on my list, the more time I spend with him the more I’m convinced Carter is everything I will ever need. Now I just have to figure out a way to tell him.

CARTER

With Michael traveling the world, it’s just Lucas and me in his house while we rebuild the café, bakery, and apartment. I’m happy for Michael. I really am, but seeing another friend get their happy beginning shines a light again on the fact that I might never get mine.

I’m sick of being everyone’s best friend, yet no one’s boyfriend. I want my happy beginning too. I want someone to pick me. To want me. To love me.

So I do what any single guy would do, I sign up for speed dating. Blind dates suck but I’m never going to find the one if I don’t start putting myself out there.

The problem is, the more time I spend living with Lucas the more I realize, I don’t want any of these random hookups. I want the sweetest guy I’ve ever met. The one who bakes me cookies to make me smile. So now I have to figure out a way to show him I can be an awesome boyfriend. I can be his happy beginning if he will just give me a chance out of the friend zone.

“Ohh, aren’t you delicious?” The guy wearing deep purple eyeliner preens as I take my seat at table G.

“Ahh, thanks.”

Theo taps the mic, gaining everyone’s attention. “All right, your night starts now. Have fun.”

The app chimes, and the guy across from me immediately starts talking.

“I’m Stuart. Thirty-seven, Capricorn, I’m a stylist and live in the city, but have visited this town a few times. It’s super sweet, I could totally see myself settling somewhere like here. I could open a salon. You obviously work out, so what else do you do besides pumping iron?” He props his head on his hands, tilting it to the side as he waits for my reply.

“I’m Carter. I’m a contractor.”

“Oh, so you’re good with your hands. I knew a big, buff guy like you would be.”

“Thanks. I, umm, live in town, but work all over depending on the job.” Lucas’s warm laugh sounds from somewhere on my left. I turn my head towards the sound, and like being pulled by a magnet, my gaze finds him. He’s sitting across from a man in a suit with slicked-back hair, flawlessly clean-shaven face, and impeccably manicured eyebrows. My jaw tightens.

Really? That guy?

I can’t see his face, but Lucas is smiling, and I hate that this man, whoever he is, is making Lucas smile that way. That’s my smile.

Stuart is talking again, and I’d be lying if I said I had any clue what he was saying. My gaze keeps being drawn back to Lucas.

The last few days it’s been nothing but baking and building. Every day I leave to the sights and smells of Lucas trying a new recipe from the stack in Coral’s old box. His humming to old television show tunes carries up the stairs like the alarm clock I never knew I needed.

The Half Baked Plan is the second book in the Love in No Man's Land series. It can be read as a standalone without issue, but I feel you get more out of it if you read the books in the order that the author intended.

Lucas is in the process of rebuilding his business and his life. When his bakery and apartment above it burn down due to faulty wiring, he moves into his best friend's house while he's off traveling with his boyfriend. His longtime crush, Carter, who is also staying at the house, is now his roommate and rebuilding his bakery and apartment. Lucas tries talking himself out of crushing on Carter but everything he does just makes it that much harder to stop falling for the man.

Carter dreams of finding the perfect relationship. All of his friends are finding theirs and he just wants someone to call his own. When he signs up for speed dating, he's surprised to find the person he clicks with the most is his roommate, Lucas. Suddenly seeing him in a new light, Carter can't stop thinking about the sweet baker who makes him the best cookies he's ever had.

I loved seeing Lucas and Carter's relationship build. They both wanted the same thing but didn't see what was right in front of them. They had so much chemistry between them.

I can't wait to see what's next!

Angie☆☆☆☆
This book picks up where the first book left off. You could read it as a standalone, but you would get more of the back story of the fire and why everything is happening. We met Lucas and Carter in book one. Lucas owns the town’s bakery. Carter is the local construction guy and best friends with Michael, Lucas's business partner. These guys both fancy each other but don't want to ruin their friendship, so they spend half the book keeping their feelings to themselves. Once they both get their heads out of their butts, it's a beautiful, sweet love story. I mean it's sweet before then, but even sweeter. The secondary characters are amazing, we met all of them in book one as well. I can't wait for Marcus to get his own book, I just love him. Another sweet love story to add to the series. If low-angst, sweet, sappy love is your jam, this book is for you!

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series, and whilst you could read this as a standalone, you would miss out on quite a lot of the background to the town, the guys, and the vibe – so do yourself a favour and read Michael and Bobby's story first.

The last book left us knowing that a fire had damaged Lucas and Michael's business and when the guys left for adventures abroad, Lucas would be living with Carter whilst the cafe, bakery, and Lucas's flat were rebuilt. We also know that Lucas has had a crush on Carter for a long time and this could be make or break!

I love that these stories are low angst, but still have enough tension and dilemmas that it is impossible not to want to turn the page again and again. These two are the ultimate definition of slow burn and worry about turning from friends to lovers – but I enjoyed the push pull and most definitely when they finally came to their senses.

The 'perfect' brownie recipe was a great foil to the stuttering romance, as was the question of whether brownie or cookie are best! I am definitely going to have to try out the 'secret' ingredient next time I bake.

It was great to have some catchups from Michael and Bobby, but also from the wider crew, and there are plenty of guys who deserve a happily ever after, even if the speed dating did not work!

This list was supposed to cure my crush. If anything, it’s highlighted that even his annoying habits are starting to become something else entirely.

Textual Connections by Becca Jackson Blog Tour

Blog Tour. Becca Jackson’s Textual Connections.

MAL

I thought I was good with my life in No Man’s Land. Truth be told, I was, until I messaged Bear.

What started as an online debate about coffee vs wine, has become something so much more, it doesn’t even matter that I don’t know his real name and have never seen his face. My daughter doesn’t agree.

She wants me to find someone “real” before she leaves for college, so when the neighbors hot brother rolls into town, she’s less than subtle about my single status.

Bobby is a free spirit, man in every town, according to his sister, but that’s not really him. He’s fun, adventurous, kind, and he’s a fantastic flirt, so when the similarities between Bear and Bobby start to align I can hardly believe my luck.

Can my online crush really be the guy next door?

BEAR

I never wanted to come back to Normanland, traveling the world is everything to me, but the money has almost run out and I’m in desperate need of a sponsor that doesn’t make me cringe.

My sister thinks I’m crazy for not wanting to settle down, and when I told her about chatting online with Mal she basically gave me the whole catfish creeper tv-special warning and begged me not to try to meet him for real.

Not that Mal would want to come to Normanland. I can’t see what this small town has to offer anyone, that is until Michael takes it upon himself to show me the beauty of this town I’d chosen to forget.

Michael owns the local café, he’s a fan of puns, is an amazing dad and loves travel, though he’s never actually been anywhere… just like Mal.

I tell myself I must be crazy, because if Michael really is Mal, how long has he known? Was Meg right? Did I come back to Normanland just to get my heart broken, or could Mal really be the happy beginning I never knew I needed?

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Textual Connections is the first book in the Love in No Man's Land series. It is a fun, low-angst story that sets a great foundation for future books to follow.

Mal and Bear have been talking online for close to a year. What started as a wine vs coffee rant had Bear messaging him. And that messaging has turned into daily communication that they both look forward to. When their conversations turned a little flirty, they decide to move to calls, then one mind blowing video chat. They still haven't seen who the other is or where they are located.

Bobby doesn't want to move back to his hometown, Normanland, with his sister and two nieces. His heart is set on traveling, but when his money is starting to run low and getting a sponsorship proves harder than he thought, he unhappily moves home. When he meets the new coffee shop owner, he finds Michael adorable and quite cute with his coffee puns.

I really enjoyed this story and the characters. It was a quick read but worth it. I can't wait to see what's next for Lucas and Carter.

Angie☆☆☆☆
I loved this book. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because I felt the ending was rushed. Mal and Bear are just the cutest couple. Even as Michael and Bobby they were cute. I love the banter and the genuine connection they had. The secondary characters were great too. I cannot wait for the next book and I hope Mal and Bear make an appearance.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
3.5 stars rounded up

This is the first in a new series, and given the world building that goes on, I am looking forward to the next installment!

Michael lives for his daughter and coffee shop, and an online travel blogging friend called Bear. His town has not served up any men that he finds irresistible, and anyway until his daughter leaves for college.

Bear returns to the US as he is out of funds and stays with his sister, Meg, neighbour to Michael. He continues to post as if overseas, and chat with his online crush, Mal.

Yep Michael is Mal, and Bear is Bobby... it takes them a while to work it out, and in the meantime, we get to meet the Crystal Queers quiz team, understand just how fab Michael's coffee is, and that Bear has scruples about sponsors. For a place Michael claimed had no prospects, there was a lively group of guys who made no secret of their sexuality.

This is a pretty low-angst, small-town paced novel which I found a very easy read. The coffee puns were awful, but also funny.

My timer chimes again and I catch my breath. Ten minutes and I’ll hear his voice. Ten minutes and what is essentially a pen pal relationship becomes real. Ten minutes is both too soon and far too long to wait.
