This novella fits in the More Than series and is a very passionate, and yet sweet story, with a rather sinister element. I have loved the whole series and would definitely recommend that you begin at the beginning if you have the patience. If not, then you will find out some elements out of order, but I can assure you the romances are all unique with a familial link running through them.

Here we meet Amanda, a childhood friend of Harlow, who fundamentally was groomed by Harlow’s father, and taken on as he executive assistant straight from college. As soon as she fell pregnant, he didn’t want to know, and worse, his company collapsed due to his illegal actions, forcing her into the spotlight and into the attention of those who would wish her harm. She now finds herself in Maui with her baby, when she is attacked.

Tanner, doing a favour for a friend, comes to the rescue – but is instantly attracted to Mandy, possibly irrevocably, which adds to the complexity of her situation. As we get to meet the rest of the clan who want to support their baby brother, we can catch up with all the previous couples too.

Inevitably in a novella the love moves fast, but it fits with the situation and the people, so I was ‘more than’ happy to go with the very enjoyable flow.

She has to be able to protect her son and herself, but also wants to have a relationship with her newfound family. It's quite the dilemma. With her past haunting her and her future uncertain, can she truly trust Tanner?

When Amanda and Tanner truly meet for the first time, both are instantly attracted to the other. And while it's kind of an insta-love situation, it didn't necessarily feel that way. This story fits very well into the series and I really enjoyed watching Amanda and Tanner navigate their feelings and the person or people who are after Amanda.

You'll enjoy this couple as much as the others and you get to see the other couples briefly as well! I can't wait for more books!

This story picks up right where book one left off. Brea is the town sweetheart. Everyone trusts her and knows that she's the preacher's daughter. When Brea's dad has a medical issue, she doesn't hesitate to pick up the slack where she is needed for her congregation. She is also a hairstylist and when she goes to work, she knows that people respect her. Brea has always followed the rules, until she meets Pierce.

Pierce is not a rule follower. He knows where his skills are and uses them to the best of his ability. When he meets Brea, he's immediately intrigued. But with teammates warning him away from her, he isn't sure if he should pursue. When circumstances bring her to his door, he isn't going to ignore the chemistry.

Brea and Pierce are at a crossroads. Pierce knows that he'll do whatever it takes to make sure that Brea is safe, and Brea knows that she loves Pierce. However, with Pierce's future up in the air and his safety in jeopardy, Brea is worried that she'll never see him again. Also, with the disapproval of her dad, can Brea choose between the two men in her life?

This book picks up where book one ended, and it is fast-paced and doesn't slow down until the end.

Pierce "One-Mile" Walker and Brea Bell are two people that are made for each other. The saying that opposites attract is so true with these two. One-Mile goes after the leader of the drug cartel and leaves Brea alone and scared. She has a secret that she hasn't told him about. But Cutter is there to save the day and keep her safe.

Can she forgive Pierce for walking away? Can Pierce accept her after he learns her secret? Will Pierce let Cutter steal his future away from him? Will Brea's father accept Pierce as the man for his daughter?

I really enjoyed this duo, it is fast-paced, steamy, sexy, and suspenseful. Author Shayla Black has a way of intertwining her series to make them even more, and when you read them you remember all the others that you have read. So pick this series up, even if you haven't read the others yet, just read her stories and enjoy them. I cannot wait for Zy and Tessa's story next.

Pierce’s hands dropped to her hips. “Would you rather do something besides play pool?”

Yes, please. “No. This is fine.”

His fingers tightened on her. The heat of his touch penetrated the khaki twill of her shorts. Suddenly, she found it hard to breathe.

Then he took hold of her hips again. “Spread your legs, pretty girl.”

Her stomach tightened. “Why?”

“Your feet are too close together. You’ll find it hard to stabilize when you take your shot. Go on. Yeah, just like that. Now lay the rest of the fingers of your left hand on the table and make a bridge for the V to rest on. You got it.”

Brea only half listened to his answer. She was excruciatingly aware of his body heat blistering her, of his hips packed against her backside as he leaned over and utterly surrounded her with his big body.

The tip of her stick barely poked the cue ball. The white orb rolled lazily across the table, made a polite clap with the first of the balls in the triangle, barely jostling them before rolling away.

“It was horrible.” She straightened, and her hungry stare climbed him again. “Show me what I should have done?”

He hesitated, then set his pool cue aside. “You didn’t come to play pool. Cutter made you promise not to talk to me, so why are you here?”

“To thank you.” She blushed.

“You could have left cookies for me at the office. But you came to my house. On a Friday night. With your hair curled and your makeup done, wearing pretty white lace.” Pierce fingered the scooped neck of her top before he wrapped his hand around her neck and tilted her face up to meet his stare. “Look me in the eye and tell me why you’re here.”

“I don’t know.”

“Yes, you do. You’re afraid to admit it.”

Goodness, Pierce could see right through her.

She swallowed. “Terrified.”

"One-Mile" – aka Pierce – is a hard man. He's been hardened by life and by his job. As a newer member of an elite group of people who do the jobs that nobody wants to talk about, One-Mile is known as the antisocial one. He's a mountain of a man with emotions that run deep.

Brea is a simple woman. She is known as the good girl and someone who is always willing to help out. Her best friend, Cutter, is also part of the elite group and when they go to a picnic, she catches the eye of One-Mile.

What follows is a relationship that shouldn't work, but does. Brea brings out the more gentle side of One-Mile and One-Mile brings out Brea's wilder side.

These two have a lot going on and although you can see where their relationship is heading, you'll be hard pressed to not want book two to come sooner. Plus, with the mystery within One-Mile's group, there are a lot of unanswered questions. I can't wait!

I have to say that I have not read the Wicked Lovers series but I have read the Devoted Lovers series. Bringing both of those series together with what I would call smaller characters (at the time) is one way to bring them into the spotlight.

Pierce “One-Mile” Walker is the man to call when you need the kill shot. He worked for the military for years and was a sniper and that is where he got his name from. He keeps his heart under wraps and doesn't give it to anyone. But when he meets Brea Bell, things begin to change for him.

Brea Bell is an all-around innocent girl. She is the preacher's daughter and is pure as snow. When she meets One-Mile, she has feelings come alive in her that she cannot deny. When her best friend, Cutter, warns her to stay away from him, she tries to, but the pull between her and Pierce is too strong.

Can Brea keep her innocence and stay away from One-Mile? Will One-Mile continue to pursue her because he wants her? Will she give her innocence to save her best friend? And what about that ending, will One-Mile come back?

I love Shayla Black and her writing style is one that will leave you on the edge of your seat and breathless. Her stories are well worth the read and leave you wanting more.

This is the first in a duet giving us One-Mile and Brea's story from the inside, and it is everything I could have hoped for... and (thankfully) not long to wait until the second book hits our e-readers!

For fans of Shayla Black's Wicked Lovers and Devoted Lovers series this will be like stepping back into a world full of friends, danger, and scorchingly hot passion – a complete pleasure. For newbies, I think it will probably make you rush off to read from the beginning, and I do not think that you will regret that decision one bit.

Oh, this book is so full of goodness – and goodness in its many forms, ranging from virtue, service, passion, honesty, future, hope, and love. It has wonderful sections of slow intense realisation, long moments of incredible passion, and hard-hitting events which serve to show the lengths which the team will go to protect. It is not easy at times; it is definitely pitching external expectations with internal realities – and through it all, Brea and Pierce (One-Mile) recognise that the feelings that they have for each other are anything but throwaway. And it is in that certainty that we can trust that Black will lead them in the direction they need, even if not that which they expect.

4.5 stars of incredible hotness!

This is a book where you will want the cover of three ice cubes to materialise by your side, as you will need them to cool down... Shayla Black writes very sensual, passionate stories and has no difficulty with pushing her characters boundaries – and she excels herself here.

We know pretty early on that Brenna is a sensual woman, and clearly in need of some good sexual experiences. So when the bail bondsman Thorn and policeman Cameron make her an offer in exchange for information, it is time to reach for the first ice cube. But then what was really a bit of a dare turns out to be a very heated and intense encounter. Much as Thorn is reluctant to allow anything serious to develop, he is powerless to resist the pull to Brenna and, unexpectedly, to Cameron.

I enjoy reading MMF and am always fascinated by the interaction between the men. I really think this was maybe one of my most enjoyable, new-to-the-experience trio stories. It is hot, but also has fun and happy elements which made it much more enjoyable and gives hope that they really will achieve all that they desire.

Skye doesn't want to go to the wedding on her own because Finn's mother thinks that they belong together. What his mother doesn't realize, is that they were only friends and can never be anything more. So why not take Stephen up on his offer for him to be her fake fiancé.

Stephen Lund came to Hawaii to figure out his life and a few other things. But when he sees Skye, he wants to help her out. He is attracted to her from the start. And as they get to know each other better, he begins to want more, so much more. So being her fake fiancé isn't going to be a hardship for him.

Can they convince those at the wedding that their relationship is real? What happens when Skye finds out one of the reasons Stephen came to Hawaii? Will they have a chance at a real relationship?

I love Skye and Stephen; they might be my favorite couple in this series so far. If you haven't read this series yet, you need to because it is worth it. Shayla Black has a way of drawing you into a story and making you feel like you are part of it until the very end. So sit back and enjoy it.

This is a super-hot novella which fits perfectly in the 1001 Dark Nights collection and also in the More Than Words series. It fits in just before book five, but it won't matter whether you have read book five yet or not. I definitely think that you can read this as a standalone, but really you will want to go back to the beginning and enjoy them all if you have the time!

Stephen Lund is all about business, and even his time on Maui is supposedly to try and purchase the property he is staying in for a client. When he meets his housekeeper, Skye, he finds himself suggesting that he be her fake fiancé to help her out at a wedding. Truly, Finn's mother is the worst nightmare one could ever imagine – and really should be taken to task for her terrible attitude... but I digress!

Obviously, the chemistry between the two of them causes them to throw caution to the wind, and give into the feelings and the lust that they need to explore. Book one leaves you pondering what Heavenly is going to do. Book two starts exactly where book one stops.

Beck and Seth have decided that being enemies will not achieve their goal of having Heavenly. When Heavenly learns that Beck is married, she doesn't know what to think, but with her dad's health looming over her, she doesn't really have time to think about it.

Beck knows that he has to fix the problem, but with his past, something he never speaks about, he's not sure how to go about fixing the mess he's put them in.

Raine is one of Heavenly's only friends and agrees to help Heavenly on her quest to travel to Wisconsin. Back home to where she and her dad were the happiest. But when planning to leave, Heavenly knows that she has a lot to think about and so she decides that she has to leave Seth and Beck behind for her journey.

Neither of her men are happy about her decision, but with the issues that have now been brought up, both know that they have to back off and let Heavenly decide on her own whether or not she can trust them. Also, Seth and Beck know that despite their own personal proclivities, they have to introduce Heavenly to their world gently and slowly, so that she can adjust and hopefully accept them for all they want from her. I love how gentle they are with her and how they aren't too afraid to show her who they truly are.

Finally, the final conflict in this book is where most of the action comes in. I thought that it was a very well thought out conflict and really enjoyed watching everything come together and work itself out. I am very much looking forward to seeing more of this family and hope more books are to come.

This is the second book in the series, and you absolutely need to read The Choice first! It had been a while since I had read it, so I went back and indulged again, as I knew the experience would be all the richer – and it was. I am assuming you have too in my review.

At the very end of The Choice, Seth and Beck finally have Heavenly in their arms, and all three are willing to give the trio a chance – in no small part thanks to the interventions by Liam, Macen, and Raine (another wonderful story, if you have missed out on it – get reading! [Doms of Her Life]). But as they chase to the hospital for her father, she discovers that Beck is seeking a divorce... which clearly means he must be married!

However, this is merely a blip on the horizon compared to where this story goes with Beck's past... be prepared for the unexpected – and be ready for Seth also to have some secrets of his own, which will await us in the next installment.

As this engaging trio get to know each other better, they also have to try and navigate a course which enables Heavenly to honour her father, to continue with her career plans, and come to terms with the kinks that her men have previously indulged. She may be innocent, but she is not naive, and I found that to be an engaging characteristic – she wasn't disingenuous or coy, she was curious and open minded. Her shopping trips with Raine were fun and educational!

There is a lot of fun and lightness in this book but it goes dark too, and as we wait for Heavenly to make her decision and say those three littles words, life gets serious and needs the full team to come to the rescue. Moving, frightening, and unexpected, but it certainly coalesced her feelings.

I really need The Commitment NOW!!!!!
