Just a Bit Ruthless by Alessandra Hazard

Stockholm syndrome or Love?
When you want someone completely wrong for you…

Luke Whitford has always dreamed of meeting Mr. Right. A hopeless romantic at heart, he dreams of falling in love with a nice man, getting married, and having a bunch of adorable babies. The problem is, Luke has the propensity for being attracted to men who are anything but nice.

Roman Demidov, a homophobic, cynical billionaire who has a grudge against Luke’s father, is certainly not Mr. Right. Cold, manipulative, and ruthless, he’s not a nice man and he doesn’t pretend to be.

Luke is fully aware that Roman is all wrong for him. His attraction to the guy is just some sort of Stockholm syndrome; it must be. If life were a fairy tale, Roman would be the main villain, not the hero.

But even villains can fall in love. Or can they?

The story of a boy who dreamed of Prince Charming and ended up falling for the Beast.

This book contains derogatory language, mentions of violence, explicit M/M content, D/s dynamic, and a protagonist of questionable morality. Book #6 in the Straight Guys series, but it can be read as a stand alone.

I adore this series! I've said that before and I'll certainly stick by that statement after reading #6!

Luke was a sweet, adorable character who was completely in love with love. He was trying so hard to please everyone else, but mostly his overbearing macho father, that he tried to change who he was. Wearing boring suits and muted colors, slicking his curly boyish hair back, but he never really makes it believable. Luke tries to fill in for his father at a mysterious meeting and is kidnapped by Roman as payback for a deal gone bad between Luke's father and Roman. Luke is held captive in Russia at Roman's compound and Luke's completely innocent looking cherub face, pouty lips, and sweetly curled hair makes him an easy target to pick on by Roman's guards. Even Roman has trouble keeping the boy from getting under his skin. Straight guy Roman and sweet, submissive gay Luke burn up the pages in Just a Bit Ruthless. I couldn't put the book down and loved every bit of their interaction. I'm not even big on "big daddy" complexes, but Luke and Roman did it so well I'll have to rethink my stance on that kink. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I love romance with an edge: a bit twisted, a bit unhealthy and messed up.

I love that push-pull of two characters who drive each other crazy and yet are totally perfect for each other. I love mild D/s undertones, hate-to-love relationships, and the friends-to-lovers trope. I also have a bit of a weakness for the good old Alpha Male, stern, strong-willed and tough, but who will turn into a lump of sugar for the man he loves. I’m a sap, I know.

I’m currently working on the Straight Guys series.

I love talking to readers and would love to hear from you.
