Jacked Up by Samantha Kane

The secret about the Birmingham Rebels is out: With a girl in the middle, two mouth-watering football studs are better than one.

Linebacker Sam Taylor feels like a ticking time bomb. He left the army with emotional wounds as fresh as the scars on his back. Sam’s been living like a monk, but his best friend, defensive lineman King Ulupoka, wants to get him laid. Easy for him to say. The larger-than-life Samoan is a hard-bodied, tribal-tattooed fantasy. Sam agrees, under one condition: King stays to watch.

ER nurse Jane Foster is done being a good girl, and nothing says wild like picking up two of football’s sexiest players and bringing them back to your hotel room. Trouble is, she can’t decide which one she wants more. Sam is hot, sweet, and vulnerable. Jane’s more than willing to ride him into oblivion. But King’s intense gaze from across the room promises that the best is yet to come.

Sure, King has had his choice of girls and guys in the past. That doesn’t mean he’ll jeopardize his relationship with Sam over a case of locker-room lust—until a naughty nurse pushes them both out of their comfort zones. Seeing Jane and Sam together turns King on more than he ever imagined. If they’re game, he’s ready to tackle a three-way play.

Jacked Up is intended for mature audiences.

Mary Jo☆☆☆☆
The Birmingham Rebels series is quickly becoming one of my favorites of all time.

In this installment, you have Sam who is suffering from PTSD and is afraid of hurting others when the dreams/nightmares/flashbacks overwhelm him. He hasn't been with a woman since before he was injured because he doesn't trust himself not to hurt the woman he's with.

His best friend from the Rebels, King, knows that Sam is hurting and is doing his best to help Sam live. His solution to one of Sam's problems – get him laid. And if playing voyeur to ensure Sam doesn't hurt anyone, so be it.

Jane is on a weekend trip with her cousin at the beach when she meets Sam and King. Hitting it off almost immediately, they return to her hotel and talk late into the night. When King explains Sam's issues (much to Sam's dismay), Jane's connection to Sam grows.

When Jane, Sam, and King meet again, sparks continue to fly, not only between Jane and Sam, but between each of them, leading them to find love in unexpected places.

4.5 stars of hot and horny sexiness!

This is the third in the series – and whilst you don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, you would certainly get some of the tie-ins if you do. Each book centres on a new relationship, but they continue to be mentioned in future books. The writing is smooth, and encourages you to turn just one more page, right up until the end.

We meet our trio on a trip in Atlanta. King has been trying to persuade his ex-Army pal, Sam, to end his dry spell, but Sam is fearful of having a flashback or moment which ruins the experience. King agrees to be there, if the woman agrees. He may have a secret crush on Sam, but he accepts this may be the only way to indulge it. The scenes at the beginning of the book are so effective at giving us an insight into these men, and also Jane, the woman with whom they choose to spend the night.

As the story unfolds, and the three of them meet again, the situation gets complicated to say the least. Jane has a normal, non-complicated past, and never expected to have a non-standard relationship. She does not deny the chemistry between them, but she is not sure that she can go as far as be open about their relationship. The shifting of hurt emotions between the three of them is affected by their family, their roles, and their current responsibilities – and gives us a very rich story. I loved her mother's intervention in particular, but there are many side characters who influence them and their behaviour.

There is a good mix of sport, the issues arising from Sam's time in the military, Jane's conventional past, and their hot, chemistry laden adventure together. I can't wait to see how things move forward once we get the next installment. There were all manner of hints as to whose turn it might be next, so I am very curious to find out!

This story is fun, sweet, and incredibly steamy. I love friends-to-lovers romances and the bromance between Sam and King is wonderful. Great characterisation and a wonderful playfulness make it more than just erotica.

I loved Sam as a famous NFL player and military veteran too anxious about his PTSD to trust himself with a woman without King’s help. I loved Jane’s refreshing “what the hell” approach to the offer of a one-off three(ish)some. For erotica, these are surprisingly appealing and complex characters that I actually really liked. Sam is still struggling with his past, King is struggling with his attraction to Sam, and Jane is struggling with her instant public notoriety as the two men’s lover.

The plot is relatively simple here. The two men discover their attraction to each other through their attraction to Jane. This story is book three in a series about Sam and King’s team. The two men are part of the kinkiest NFL team in America and their slide from BFF bromance to lovers is sexy and a pleasure to read. As an uninhibited nurse, Jane adds one more fantasy to the mix.

The sex between these three is hot, the chemistry is brilliant, and the characters are well crafted. This is definitely erotica, but it is happy, fun, and slightly angsty erotica and I really enjoyed it.

Book three in the series, however, I read it as a standalone and thought it was great! It’s a super hot, fun read that I couldn’t put down!

Jane Foster has always been the good girl that always follows the rules. She’s a nurse who doesn’t have time for a relationship and her friend, Margo, decides that what Jane needs is to get laid. So Margo drags Jane away from their town to a nearby beach to find Jane a hookup… or two. Sam Taylor and King Ulupoka are best friends who both play football for the Birmingham Rebels. Sam used to be in the military and has a lot of issues resulting from his time deployed, very severe PTSD being the top of the list. King grounds him and keeps him sane. Sam hasn’t been with a woman since returning home from his deployment out of fear that he might have an “episode” and harm the woman. So, King “takes one for the team” by offering to be in the room when Sam “jumps back on the horse.” Now to find a willing woman… enter Jane Foster.

I have to say that this is definitely an original plotline, I found it enjoyable and, at times, hilarious. Though I think Jane and Sam are meant to be more main characters, King was definitely my favorite. His sarcasm and brutal honesty had me cracking up on more than one occasion. This read is definitely a roller coaster, one that I didn’t want to get off. I look forward to book four in this series!
