Declan Groves is a CPA in New York City. His adult life is dictated by routine and monotony. Love in 24 Frames is a sweet novella that I read in one sitting. I liked that this is story about men in their 40s. I really liked that even at 48 years old, Declan is shy when it comes social situations and romance. I particularly liked the simple way that this romance unfolds. Love in 24 Frames is a lovely story.

This was exactly what I needed. Hot, sweet, and lovely. I loved Grant and Easton. This book really needed to be longer. I need more!!!! This book was super fast and a great pick me up if you're in a book slump.

Hot lawyer Easton meets equally hot Grant, who had gone to a local bar for a little stress relief. It leads to a deliciously steamy encounter. The Hookup is a quick, sexy story with a great little twist and was ultimately sweet too, which I loved.

I felt the author did a great job of giving us a snapshot of one memorable night and while I would happily read more stories about Easton and Grant, this one was plenty satisfying all on its own. I’d definitely recommend The Hookup and I know it is a story I’ll be reading it again.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is a short read, but manages to be both super hot, but also incredibly sweet and romantic. It really is the perfect escapism and complement to a glass of wine and comfy chair. I loved the reception that they get after their very hot hookup!

If you have never read a Kindle Alexander story before, I am sure that this gives you a delicious taste of the quality and style of writing. Enjoy!

This is a sexy little story about a hookup with a little twist. It’s a very short story with a single crazy hot sex scene and a little bit of heart. As always with Kindle Alexander books, this one is well written and both men are fabulous. It’s an entertaining 20-minute read.

I have no idea how I missed this in December, but am delighted that I got to read it now. I loved book one in the series, and this is a quick reminder of all that is fabulous about Liam... and okay, Bryn and Mike too !!

Short, but definitely Christmas cookie sweet – an unexpected family bereavement for Adam, Kelly's boyfriend, means that Liam comes to spend Christmas with the newlyweds. This leads to lots of the typical-to-Liam adventures, and reminds us all about the joy of the season through the eyes of a child. It also shows the sacrifices to privacy that two passionate guys have to make, and the work arounds that ensure everyone gets their happy Christmas. 😀

I have to admit a couple of times I was worried something traumatic was going to happen, but I can safely say that the most drama comes from Bryn trying to build a bike!

The next morning, I’m one hundred and ten percent certain something’s wrong. It’s 6:17 AM and I’m waiting for Lee in the kitchen, leaning against the sink, trying to make my glass of water last so I have an excuse for hanging around, doing nothing but staring in the direction of his bedroom.

Every morning, we go out running together at 6 AM on the dot. Without fail, come rain or shine, weekend or workday. The only exception is if either of us is sick or if it’s a world-ending kind of storm outside. And Lee is a stickler for being on time: between him and me, I’m the one who’s always late and leave him waiting impatiently for me to get ready.

And now it’s almost twenty past six and he hasn’t showed his face yet?

Outside, it’s a lovely May morning. The birds are chirping, waking up the neighborhood, and the first rays of sun promise to finally heat up our corner of the world. So no world-ending storm in sight, and yet he’s nowhere to be seen.

Is he dying?

Any other day, I would march into his room, pull off his down comforter, and yell in my best—albeit not very good—imitation of a drill sergeant—Get up, get up, get up!—but today I’m strangely reluctant.

On one hand, I want an explanation for his weird mood from yesterday—and his tardiness!—but on the other hand I still want to give him time if he needs it. And part of me isn’t entirely sure I’m not over-reacting.

But I can’t help thinking that it has to be something about me. What if he found out how I really feel about him and can’t deal with it? Not that I can recall doing something to show my hand, but I can’t be sure.

Maybe it’s something Debora said? Did she figure me out and tell him? She’s never shown any homophobic tendencies, so I don’t think that would be the reason. But maybe she’s jealous? She wouldn’t be the first of Lee’s girlfriends to be jealous of our close friendship, and I can’t really blame her if that’s the case.

But that can’t be it either. Every time someone has complained about our friendship in the past, Lee’s shut them down immediately. He wouldn’t accept it from her. And to be perfectly honest, Debora has always been friendly and nice whenever we’ve met and not shown any indication of being jealous.

And I’m back to thinking he must have figured out how I feel about him, even though it seems highly unlikely. I mean, I haven’t told him specifically—or written my feelings down on a sign—but whatever it is, I hope it won’t come between us.

I can live without having Lee Conway as my life partner, but I can’t live without his friendship. Losing it would kill me.

In the end, I decide to give him time, and live with his ire if it turns out he overslept—yeah, right!—and I neglected to wake him. I shove my feet into my shoes and head out on my own.

Running alone is weird. Lee is the whole reason I’m a runner at all; when he decided he wanted to become a professional football player when he was ten, he told me he needed to start taking his “fitness routine” seriously and he was going to start running every morning. When I made a disgusted face over the thought of getting out of bed in the buttcrack of dawn to go out and run of all things—wake me up and take me to the library and I would have been game, but running?—he zeroed in on me and started lecturing me on how even science geeks needed to stay healthy. He went on and on—and quoted me honest-to-god, real, actual facts!—until I broke down and agreed to come along. I’ve never been one to resist science. Or Lee. And the combination was deadly even when I was ten.

As usual, I reached THE END with an aww and a smile on my face. I know I say this every time I review one of Nell Iris’ books, but the author has to yet let me down so I’m still over here fangirling over how much I enjoy her writing. Iris has a talent for writing novellas that give a glimpse into the characters’ lives, a pivotal moment that changes everything for them and doing it in such a way that I’m both satisfied with their story, but left wanting more because I love the characters. And let’s not forget ALL the feels.

What I found interesting about Always You was that even though it is Lee who comes to a realization about his sexuality, the story is actually Thom’s. Thom feels that he is the embodiment of a cliché – the gay boy in love with his straight best friend. Having grown up together, the children of best friends, it was only natural that they became best friends too, so Thom had accepted that he would take the truth of his love for Lee to his grave. While he may have fantasized about what a romantic relationship with Lee might be like, Thom never considered it an actual possibility. Needless to say, when his fantasy looks like it might become reality, Thom is left reeling – especially as it’s preceded by Lee disappearing on him and going radio silent for HOURS, something that’s never happened before. So rather than showing us Lee’s struggle with self-acceptance, Iris shows us the other side of the coin as Thom deals with his own rollercoaster ride of emotions because while in theory it sounds like Thom should be ecstatic that he’s getting everything he wanted, the reality of your entire world being flipped upside down is still a lot deal with, no matter how much you wanted it.

On a final note, I have to say that I absolutely loved the epilogue. One of the things I appreciate about Nell Iris’ writing is how the glimpse into the characters’ lives is so well done that I don’t need more – I might want more, but I don’t need more. But in the case of Always You, the epilogue gives us a glimpse into Thom and Lee’s relationship five months later and it was adorable. So thank you for that, Nell Iris, as I thoroughly enjoyed the extra peek into the happily ever after I know the P.E. teacher and the science teacher are destined for.

“Ron set me up on a date.”—thick, revolted grunt—"A fucking date. He and Kelly told me to come over for dinner but neglected to tell me they had also invited one of her single female friends. Fuck him. I told him I was trying to get over someone and then he does this? I asked him why and he said, ‘I’m your brother, I’m just looking out for you and besides you need to get back into the saddle again.’ The saddle, Sully, like I’m some fucking cowboy or something.”—Deep stuttering breath—“I felt so betrayed. A few days ago, he asked me why I was so mopey, and I told him I’d just broken up with someone really important and that I’m very upset about it. He said he was sorry and then a few days later he tells me to get back on the horse? I couldn’t even storm out of there because he grabbed my arm and said Kelly had worked so hard on the dinner, so I better not disappoint her. He’s definitely inherited his guilt-trip skills from Mom.

“Then I had to spend the rest of the night dodging wandering hands. I can’t tell you how many times I had to brush her fingers away from my thigh. As soon as I could, I got up and left but then she followed me. She cornered me before I could get into my car and kissed me. I felt like I cheated on you. I cheated on you and all I want to do is beg your forgiveness and promise you I won’t do it again. Except it doesn’t matter, does it? I did this to myself. I did this to myself and now I have to live with my choices. With the consequences of my cowardice.

“And you probably don’t care anymore and you’re right not to because you deserve someone by your side who’ll be happy to be seen with you. Someone who’ll stand up to his family and tell them that the person he’s so broken-hearted over is a guy. The most amazing guy I’ve ever met who made me laugh every day and saw behind the tough-guy persona and saw the real me.

“You need someone like that. I wish that person could be me. I’m so sorry. I should stop calling you. I need to stop calling you. It’s just…I miss you. All the time.”

I don’t sleep well that night. It’s one of my few weekends off; I relented and took time off from the bar on the weekend after yet another call from Dad telling me in his sternest voice to not work myself to the bone. I spent the evening conked out on the couch, half-sleeping to a movie I’d seen before, and after that, I moved the party to the bed to get some actual sleep. But Lou’s phone call woke me up, and after listening to his message my sleep is restless.

I dream of his large hands touching every inch of my body. Of his thin but warm lips constantly surrounded by stubble because he needs to shave twice a day to keep his face smooth. Of his long hair hanging like curtains around us as he lay on top of me, kissing me. Of his fingers playing with my curls that he loves so much or tracing the outline of my tattoo.

I dream of long legs entwined with mine and the hard planes of his body rubbing against mine. Of deep moans in my ear, of fingers digging into my flesh, of sweat dripping down on me as he made love with me. I dream of his scent. His deep laughter. How his eyes softened whenever he looked at me.

Caught in the space between dream and consciousness, I dream of… remember?... the time he crawled into my bed late at night, snaking his arm around my waist and pulling me flush to his body, pressing his broad chest against my back, rubbing the curly hair covering his pecs against my bed-warmed skin. I was aware of his presence but not quite awake as he carefully caressed the skin under my belly button with a thick thumb. I dream of… remember?... the softly whispered words against the back of my neck. “I love you, Sully Winslow.”

Oh man. This was a short read but full of the feels. I can imagine this happening in real life, and it made it that more emotional for me. Simple, beautiful, and heart wrenching.

I have just surprised myself and given this 5 stars – and it deserves it because in only 40 or so pages it gave me an absolutely complete romance. I am still staggered at how it achieved it, but believe me, it does.

Sully is listening to the phone messages left by the remorseful Lou, and trying to cope with his heart breaking as the man who ended it can't help but keep in touch. Lou is even using poetry to get his sadness across. This is such a great way to get across how deep their feelings are for each other very quickly.

Add in the scene with Sully and his dad – which is just the loveliest interaction between father and son that I have read in a long while – and this is a really special story. Thank you, Nell Iris.

Greg loves his sister and with her on bed rest due to her pregnancy, Greg is charged with making their mutual friend Cynthia's bachelorette party a hit. There's one problem... Greg knows nothing about throwing a bachelorette party.

When the bakery that his sister wanted is unavailable, Greg seeks out another one that was recommended to him. What he didn't expect was to find an ex-boyfriend.

Rhys is an amazing baker. When he sees Greg again, he immediately apologizes for being young and immature in his relationship with Greg. He also agrees to help Greg pull off an amazing bachelorette party.

These two have sweet, almost young adult chemistry. They make each other laugh and allow themselves to see if they can rekindle their young love relationship. This book was sweet, funny, and had the added bonus of hilarious bachelorette food.

Sweet Anticipation is a quick enjoyable read. Gregory and Rhys had a brief romance in college and get a second change when Gregory hires Rhys to help him prepare the food for a bachelorette party. This is easy-to-read fun story. I really enjoyed the time the men spent in the kitchen. Sweet Anticipation really put me in the mood to do my Christmas baking.

Andrew grew up in western Michigan with a father who loved to tell stories and a mother who loved to read them. Since then he has lived throughout the country and traveled throughout the world. He has a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and now writes full time.

Andrew’s hobbies include collecting antiques, gardening, and leaving his dirty dishes anywhere but in the sink (particularly when writing). After coming out to his parents doesn’t go well, Chad’s hairdresser, Joy, takes him in. Chad is such a good guy and the reaction of his parents when he comes out is awful and had me in tears several times. But the romance with Joy is so sweet and full of love, it made me so happy.

I loved reading novellas at Christmas and For Joy is wonderful. I read it in one sitting and it just made my heart sing and the ending is perfect!

The first man Crystel fell in love with was Beauty's Beast. Next came Robin Hood, then Mr. Darcy. Two decades of married life later, she still loves fictional men – especially when there are two of them who are meant to be! She likes it best when she can create their plights and fights herself, and she can always be counted on to throw in some sizzling hotness and a lot of feels.
