Tugging off her shirt, she smiled. Gone were the compression bras; she didn’t burn them, but they were hauled off with the trash shortly after the infamous refrigerator sex. Lace, satin, and underwire took their place.
“What you’re doing right now feels more intimate than anything you’ve ever done to me with your mouth.”
“We’ll see about that.” He wet his lips, eyeing her white lace bra. Approval glimmered in his eyes.
She removed the rest of her clothes, eager to be in his arms. He took a step back as she moved toward him.
“Stop.”
She froze. Her hands searched for a place to be: hanging idle at her sides, covering her breasts, shielding her neatly-shaven pussy?
“Repeat after me.”
“What?” Her voice squeaked with disbelief.
He grinned as his ego gobbled up her confidence. “I’m beautiful.”
Ryn squinted.
“Say it.”
She sighed. “I’m beautiful.”
“I’m taking back every bit of confidence that bastard took from me.”
It would never happen like that, but someone who hadn’t been in her shoes could never understand. However, she loved the naked man standing before her for saying it.
“I’m taking back every bit of confidence that bastard took from me.”
“I’m worthy of happiness.”
That one hit harder than it should have. She’d never given happiness much thought.
“Say it.”
“I’m … I’m worthy of happiness.”
“I’m going to marry Jackson Knight and love him in spite of his multiple fucked-up personalities.”
“Jackson—”
“Say it.” His voice carried a rare pain and vulnerability.
“I’m going to marry Jackson Knight…” she stepped closer and rested her hands on his chest “…and I’m going to love Every. Single. One. Of his fucked-up personalities.”
“I’ve had a shit day,” he whispered, brushing his thumb along her cheek. “Until now.”
She nodded slowly, then looked up at him. “I’ve had a shit life … until now.”
“Touch me,” he said.
“Where?”
“Everywhere. Make me feel human again.”

Gutted. I was thoroughly gutted as I read Dawn of Forever. Pages upon pages of heartbreak from the past and the present collide as Ann gives us the final installment in the Jack & Jill series. Yet seven words healed it all – Sorry, Thelma … I had to tell him. That was the last line of the book and Jessica’s final thoughts as her future began, yet again. Actually, I take it back. There was an eighth word that started the healing process in the Epilogue for me and it was Jackson’s – Boobies. After 300+ pages of action, adventure, secrets, betrayal, heartache, heartbreak, laughter, tears, squirm-inducing moments, and never knowing until the very end who was going to live and who was going to die, Ann made it all better with eight words from the two people I’ve traveled this trilogy with the whole way.
I actually put off reading Dawn of Forever as long as I could. Why? Because after reading books one and two in the trilogy, I had no idea how the author could work the story out so that everyone got the happy endings they deserved. And that was because she couldn’t. People die. Hearts are broken. Love is lost. Trust is shattered. And life moves on whether you want it to or not. This is why I enjoy Ann’s books and have loved every page of this series – she doesn’t sugarcoat life for her characters, she runs them ragged, puts them through the ringer, drags them across broken glass, kicks them while they’re down, and does her best to help them find happiness where they can. Who better to appreciate happiness than those who’ve had it ripped away repeatedly?
With this being the final book in the trilogy, I’ll do my best to avoid spoilers. What I will say is that we finally learn who has been sending Jillian the texts. We find out who was responsible for the deaths of Jude and Jessica’s parents. The WHY behind their murders was beyond stunning. To say I didn’t see it coming doesn’t even do it justice because there was no way to see it coming. In this final installment the past collides with the present in such a way that would require such a suspension of belief to buy it, yet in the world of Knight and Day and G.A.I.L., it was completely believable. The rest of my review assumes you’ve read books one and two, so if you haven’t do NOT read on because it could spoil those books for you just a bit. Does Luke find Jessica? Does Ryn finally find happiness? Does Jessica live? Does Jillian live? Does Jude survive? Does Jackson survive? How far can a person be pushed before they finally break? And even then, can they be healed? How far will you go for the person you love? Would you die for them? Would you kill for them? Oh yes, Ann gives us the answers to all of these questions, but be prepared to be gutted, beaten, bashed, and bruised before you get them. My advice, wait until you can read without interruption and in a place where you feel comfortable crying, but don’t start this book before bed. I was up until 3 am finishing Dawn of Forever and it was worth every second of missed sleep.
