Hard Corps by Scott Hildreth Blog Tour

After fighting in the war for 12 years, Alec "A-Train" Jacob returns to the United States to find out while he was away, things changed drastically at home. In an effort to find peace of mind – and hopefully a new beginning – he rides his motorcycle from Wichita, Kansas to Austin, Texas.

Filled with a desire to continue to protect those who he sees as a victim, he's always quick to step in and assist anyone in need. Through a newfound friend, he meets a woman who was the victim of as random act of violence. Initially, he hopes for nothing in return but the satisfaction of helping her.

Katie "Bug" Ripton is attempting to quietly recover from being the victim of an assault. When she meets Alec, she sees a man who is kind, considerate, and not only capable of comforting her, but willing to protect her from harm.

Apart, their lives are empty and seem to be haunted by the memories of their pasts.

Together, their pasts disappear, and a future begins to unfold.

A future every girl dreams of obtaining, but few ever do.

Alec 'A-Train' Jacobs is a simple man. He believes in God. He gives his all as a Marine. He knows his job as a Marine is to keep going back until he can longer fight or until the war is over. He has that classic old school gentlemanly way about him.

When he goes to Texas with the Selected Sinners he sees a flyer for open boxing space. Being one to stay in the best of shape he wants in on the fight. When he meets Shane Dekkar and Mike 'Ripp' Ripton, and learns their stories, he knows he is meant to stay in Texas. Especially after meeting Ripp's sister, Katie. Something about Katie's beauty and innocence draws her to him.

Katie hasn't had the best life the last couple of years. When her brother kills an ex-boyfriend that raped her, she shut down. Until Ripp brings Alec home for a Sunday family dinner. There is something about his Marine background, and his protective nature that draws her to him.

I LOVED A-Train's story. It's not the typical romance formula. It starts with his military missions, his interaction with his wife while on leave and how he rebuilds his life when everything he knows is gone. It's a page by page, chapter by chapter falling in love story. He learns about the man he's becoming and that even though you aren't blood with someone you most certainly can be family. This isn't a sex filled story, but honestly you don't need it. It would have taken away from what this story was giving you.

Hard Corps is one hell of an emotional ride. It was such an in-depth look into what makes this character the man he is.

The one scene that had me in tears, like big ugly cry tears, was Alec going after Shane when he goes to New Mexico. The conversation that was had there was honest and raw and so well written.

I can't wait to see what Mr. Hildreth has coming up next. All of the books in the Selected Sinners MC series are all so different. Each character is so unique, that is what makes this series so enjoyable.
