Fisher’s Light by Tara Sivec is Now Available & Reviewed

Fisher,

I guess this is it, huh? After fourteen years together, starting a life of our own on this island, five deployments and countless letters I’ve written you through it all, I finally go out to the mailbox and see something I’ve always dreamed of: an envelope with your handwriting on it. For one moment, I actually thought you’d changed your mind, that all the awful things you said to me were just your way of coping after everything you’d been through. I was still here, Fisher. I was still here, holding my breath, waiting for you to come back even though you told me you never would. You always said you’d find your way back to me. Out of all the lies you’ve told me, this one hurts the most.

Enclosed you will find the signed divorce papers, as requested.
I hope you find what you’re looking for. I’m sorry it wasn’t me.

Lucy

To get the ending they want, Lucy and Fisher will have to go back to the beginning. Through the good and the bad, they’ll be reminded of why they always made their way back to each other, and why this time, one way or another, it will be the last time.

I absolutely LOVED this story, unfortunately I'm having a lot of difficulty trying to write a review.
This heart-breaking, poignant, beautiful, emotional story was a breath of fresh-air! It was an amazing love story/anti-love story but so much more.
High-school sweethearts, Lucy & Fisher, are experiencing some very hard times in their relationship. We get to see how each are dealing with it. Each has a voice in this book, both in the Present and Past – which helps the reader understand them.
Being a Marine has been rewarding, yet very difficult for Fisher. Many tours, and many horrors have led Fisher into an intense disorder, it's heartbreaking, and it eventually leads Fisher to rock-bottom.

In this story – all you need is a little light at the end of the tunnel to find your way home.
I was enraptured from page one and felt so much for and from both of these characters. I found myself laughing one moment, crying (the ugly kind) the next, hoping that a resolution would be found.
All I can say is that this book is for everyone!!

This story is one of those that will rip your heart out and also have you laughing at times. All the while reading you wonder how the author can ever put your heart back together. Tara Sivec has done that to me with this fantastic story. Jefferson "Fisher" Fisher III is not what his father wants him to be, which is to follow in his footsteps. Fisher wants his own life, when he enlist in the Marines, he meets the love of his life on the same day. Lucy Butler knows all about Fisher and his wandering ways. She doesn't want anything to do with him but Fisher charms her. He finds himself wanting to be with her just to be near her. As they fall deeper in love, Fisher gets deployed every few years. This story is in the span of 15 years. Each time he comes back to her, there are pieces of him missing and all Lucy wants is to help him. When the demons from his nightmares start showing up while he is away, he has to make Lucy leave before he hurts her. He would never hurt her on purpose but the PTSD is so bad that he doesn't trust himself. So he drives her away. Lucy is shattered, with her heart broken into a million pieces. When Fisher returns a year later, she doesn't want to want him but her heart is fighting her mind. Which will win? Can she listen to what Fisher was going through and forgive him? Can Fisher make her see that it has only ever been her? This story will show you some of the side effects of PTSD and also how it affects family members and friends. If you are looking for a different kind of love story, then you should really read this one. You will not be disappointed. I sure wasn't, I loved it.

Nothing could have prepared me for this book. The author did a phenomenal job with Lucy and Fisher's story! This is my first by this author, and although I have eyed her work and stuck a few on my TBR list this was my first actual book. I was blown away. I have been that wife that stays home while the husband is in a hot zone, so she pretty much nails the thoughts and emotions. I have also read quite a few books on the soldier’s view in the hot zone, so the emotion on Fisher's side seems right. The chemistry of these two together is just so freaking amazing. The way this plot unfolds was just heart wrenching and I felt like I was experiencing it myself. I recommend this book to anyone who reads! You just can't walk away from this book without feeling the love from this couple. Five stars of entertainment and probably THE best book I've read this month!

Fisher and Lucy's marriage is torn apart when Fisher returned from war suffering PTSD. This story broke my heart right from the first chapter, leaving me in tears over and over again. Fisher and Lucy's story takes us back to the past to significant events in their lives and marriage as well as in the present day as they are apart, struggling with their heartache. Even though my heart broke repeatedly during this story, there is an overwhelming feeling of love. Fisher's Light is very much a love story.

I loved that the story is dual point of view. The island setting has a small town feel which I always adore and a cast of characters that make me want to visit. Lucy and Fisher are good, hardworking characters that were easy to relate to and fall in love with.

With Fisher's Light, Tara Sivec shows she can write heartbreaking and joyful romance just as well as she writes stories that make us laugh hysterically. It was an absolute pleasure reading Fisher's Light. I know this is a book I'll read over and over again.

Tara Sivec is an extremely talented writer, and this book is absolutely one of her best. It is so good that having it only on my Kindle will not be enough, I will need the book. It will be in the bookcase by my bed, and much like I watch Mamma Mia and Pretty Woman when I need comfort, this will do the same job.

It reads like it was written from the heart – the hearts of two delightful characters who deserve to have their story told. I have little doubt that millions of people could read this and identify with some of the issues raised, and maybe, just maybe it will make them take a minute and think. It moves backwards and forwards in time, which does mean you need to concentrate, but it cleverly interweaves the story, so that you get to understand the back-story in real time, rather than as memories, which works well.

My advice, other than get a copy and read it immediately, is make sure you have a tissue handy, because it is emotional stuff. It is also compelling, so maybe don't start it too late into the evening, unless you don't need to get up for work the next day!
