Wicked Reads Reviews – Of Silk and Steam by Bec McMaster

Enemies. Allies. Lovers.

When her beloved father was assassinated, Lady Aramina swore revenge. The man responsible is well beyond her grasp, but his dangerously seductive heir, Leo Barrons, is fair game. When Mina obtains evidence proving that Leo is illegitimate, she has the means to destroy both the killer and his son, a man who troubles her heart and tempts her body.

A woman of mystery, Mina's long driven Leo crazy with glimpses of a fiery passion that lurks beneath her icy veneer. He knows she's hiding something, and he's determined to unravel her layer by silken layer. He just doesn't expect the beautiful liar to be the key to overthrowing the corrupt prince consort… or to saving his own carefully walled-off heart.

A friend of mine referred this series to me a while ago and I bought the books. Even the best laid plans to read a book goes awry in my house since I review a lot. I happen to love steampunk and this story was fabulous. So I took a chance on reading book five first. This doesn't always work out well but this book managed to survive as a standalone. I was sucked in immediately with the story between Leo and Mina. Very exciting chemistry and foreplay between these two characters and the world building was phenomenal. I do plan to actually read books one through four once I get a dry spell but so many fascinating books are being released. This book definitely lived up to its reputation and overall I loved it. Five stars of entertainment. You can start here or at the beginning. Great steampunk!

Could I put this book down? No, great book
Characters have chemistry? Amazing chemistry
Religious? No
Erotic? Yes, when they finally got together it was explosive.
Specific genre? Steampunk sci fi
Main characters? Leo and Mina
Define main characters? Duchess and highborn male....not sure what title.
Series? Yes, book 5
Standalone? Yes, but probably best if read in order.
