Cutter by Ashley Suzanne

Ashley Suzanne follows up Raven with the next round in her scorching Fight or Flight series—the story of a damaged MMA fighter from the wrong side of the tracks, and the sizzling affair that forces him to grow up.

Cutter Greer lives at the gym—literally. Abandoned by his parents as a teen, Cutter dropped out of high school and ended up on the streets. In a simple act of kindness, mixed martial arts trainers Garrett and Rian put him up in the apartment above their gym. Now he’s got a surrogate family and a shot at MMA stardom—but he still has a lot to learn about women. And he certainly isn’t prepared for the earth-shattering consequences desire can bring.

Josette Sandoni is pleasantly surprised by the night of unexpected passion she shares with hard-edged, hard-hitting Cutter. But then comes the shock of a lifetime: She’s pregnant. Even though Cutter clearly isn’t a ready-made father, his adamant denial of any responsibility still shakes her to the core. But, for the sake of their child, Josette fights for their future. She just needs to find the right moves to show her wounded warrior the true meaning of love.

Reviews by the Wicked Reads Review Team

This is the first book in the series that I’ve read, but I will definitely be going back to read book one. I absolutely loved Cutter! It’s not your typical MMA read, but still great nonetheless!

Cutter run away from home as a teen and spends 3 years, homeless and on the streets. He finally discovers what family really is when he seeks shelter in a gym and is caught by the owner, Garret, and Garret and his wife, Rian, take Cutter in and offer him a job. On his 21st birthday, Cutter meets Josette and the two form an unbreakable bond – becoming best friends…with benefits. Then Cutter’s career as a fighter starts and he’s forced to move across the country, though he wants to make it work between him and Jo, Jo knows that she’d only been holding him back, so she cuts all ties…until a few years later when Cutter discovers a secret Jo’s been keeping…

It’s hard to write a review for this book without spoilers so I’m going to keep it short and just say that it’s an amazing story with a super-fast pace. I didn’t want it to end! I’m looking forward to the next book in this series!

Cutter comes from an abusive past. When he ran away, he had nowhere to go, but he knew he couldn't be at home any longer. He found the safest spot he could, a gym. When the owner finds him, Cutter expects the worst, but for some reason the owner, Garrett, gives Cutter a chance. A place to live and a job. When he meets Josette on his twenty-first birthday, he knows from the moment he meets her that she is someone he wants in his life. Josette doesn't want a relationship, so they agree to be friends...that eventually turns into more.

Cutter's fighting career takes off and takes him to Vegas. When he takes a break and comes home three years later, he's shocked to see Josette at Rian's baby shower.

I really enjoyed the story line and characters. I found Cutter to be swoon worthy, but at about the half way point I wanted to murder Josette. She is definitely a character I grew to have serious hate for. I get why she did what she did, but she still drove me nuts with her excuses.

This is the first book in the series that I read. I am excited to go back and read book one. I can't wait to see what's next from this author.

ASHLEY SUZANNE has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a youngster, she was always creating stories and talking to her imaginary friends. Thankfully, her parents also carried this love of fiction and helped her grow into the bestselling author she is today. When Suzanne isn’t coming up with her next story, you’ll most likely find her on the couch, telling her husband all about her new book boyfriend or spending quality time with her two gremlins...er, adorable children.
