Nick Gregorio is at a crossroads in his life. When his
former lover, Al Martinsen, came to Vegas wanting to make up, Nick was prepared
to listen. For Nick, however, returning to their hometown to resume playing
second fiddle to Al’s ambitions was not an option, and he suggested Al move to
Vegas permanently.
Six weeks have passed with no word from Al, and Nick doesn’t know what to think. Is Al still considering moving to Vegas, or does his silence say it all? When Nick finally receives news about Al, it sends him reeling with shock, anger and total despair. He knew Al had allowed ambition to dominate his life, but even he found it hard to believe Al would go so far as to commit the ultimate betrayal. There’s no going back for either of them now.
In desperation, Nick looks for temporary oblivion in the form of a night out that turns nasty and violent. Fortunately for Nick, his new friend and boss, Trip Browning, comes to his aid. With Trip’s support, Nick is able to resume work planning the gala opening of The Neapolitan’s newest restaurant. That is, until Trip delivers a surprise of his own and sends Nick’s world spinning in a whole different direction...

Ruthie – ☆☆☆
Always a fan of books set in the restaurant/hotel world, and with a definite liking for M/M, this was likely to be a hit for me!
At the very beginning I saw some promise, then I was distressed at Nick and his behaviour with Al. Even as the reasoning came out, it bothered me – I however had faith that things would be sorted out, and was not disappointed at the outcome at all. It turned into a lovely, passionate, friends and lovers story which made me smile, and to be honest be greatly relieved!
As an aside, the food details were fun, and made me do some research into possible recipe ideas – which is always good too!
One half of Christiane exists within the black-and-white parameters of corporate law where she spent most of her working life and learned the wisdom of always checking and double-checking the facts. The other, romantic half, still has her wondering if she should have accepted that invitation to dinner from a sexy Italian guy she met on the train from Naples to Rome. And what about the Frenchman who snagged her gaze across a crowded room and just wouldn’t let go? When she’s asked where she gets her ideas the answer is simple. A brief encounter, a what if plus a little imagination, and hey, voila!
Christiane lives in the Niagara Peninsula with her two Persian cats. And when she’s not writing or thinking up new plots, she loves to cook.

Glad you enjoyed Nick's story. If you want to try sfogliatelle, I suggest you find an Italian bakery that makes it :) The first time I had it was in Naples, Italy.
