Until Harry by L.A. Casey

He was my best friend, my best not-really-big-brother and my best protector. He was my best everything. He was mine.

Coming home is hard for Lane. Hard because Harry, her beloved uncle, has died suddenly, but also because of him. Kale.

Kale Hunt has been her best friend since childhood. But it was never that simple. He was Lane’s reason for leaving home and moving to New York. Seeing him with someone else, in love with someone else, shouldn’t have hurt. But it did. It really, really did. So she upped sticks and left, started a new life and cut herself off from her past.

But now she’s back and all the feelings are right there. As if she had never left.

Emotions are running high for everyone, and tragedy has a funny way of bringing people together. But is Lane reading the signs right? Are they still just friends, or is there something more?

Another phenomenal book by LA Casey – I’m a huge fan and this book is a testament to the incredible range of her writing ability! This one will completely gut you. I think I cried the entire second half, but I loved every page!!

Lane has been through an abundance of pain and loss in her life and when she was just 20, she up and moved away from her family to America. This story is told from Lane’s point of view and flips back and forth from past to present, unrolling the heart wrenching story of her life. Lane has been best friends with Kale since birth, and madly in love with him since she was just 13. Kale has always thought of Lane as a sister and when he breaks her heart at 20, it prompts her move across the country. Now, six years later, the only person that Lane stayed in touch with in the family, her Uncle Harry, has passed away. She heads back to York for the funeral and is forced to deal with the family she left behind, including Kale, who has suffered an unimaginable loss that Lane had no idea occurred.

Definitely consider this an ugly cry book. The storyline is filled with a lot of heartbreak, but you’ll be sewn back together by the end! I can’t say enough how fantastic this book is – definitely earned every single one of its 5 stars and some! I’m marking this one down as one of my top reads of 2016 and I’m eagerly awaiting LA Casey’s next release!

This book is simply superb. The writing style was very different to anything L.A Casey has written before.

I'm not going to lie, I cried and that is not something I do much with books.

Lane and Kale’s story is full of heartache. It broke my heart in places when I was reading it. The book had me all over the place. I didn't know who to love and who to hate.

The whole story is told over their lifetime and it was very easy to follow, which is sometimes difficult when you are working with timelines, but it's clearly marked as past and present.

The book is full-on angst and heartbreak, and I loved every bloody second of it.
