Full Contact by Sidney Halston

Sidney Halston returns to steamy Tarpon Springs, Florida, where a hell-raising bad boy prepares to get down and dirty for the woman he loves.

How could she have been so stupid? When Jessica Cross decides to give her violently jealous boyfriend—the otherwise influential and charming Dennis Stavros—a second chance, she very nearly becomes a statistic. After weeks of healing from a broken rib and collapsed lung, and with Dennis behind bars, Jessica finally feels ready to come out of hiding. But will she ever be able to take a chance on love again with someone new?

Mixed martial arts fighter Slade Martin knows he has a bad reputation. Hell, he's probably earned it. So it won’t be easy to convince beautiful, vulnerable Jessica that she can trust him—that from the moment she walked into his life, she’s been the only one he’s wanted. Powerful and confident, Slade knows he can honor his vow to protect Jessica body and soul. Winning her heart will be another matter . . . but a woman like Jessica is worth the fight.

Reviews by the Wicked Reads Review Team

This book teetered on 3.5 to 4 stars for a good portion for me. The basic story line was too similar to the first one. An abusive ex who she runs from. Slade and Jack oddly both like to whisper similar naughty things in similar ways to their women... There was just a lot of similarities that I didn't care for.

However, the farther into the story I got the better it got and the more we learned about the actual characters themselves. The storylines became quite different from then on. There were also points where the book would go from two weeks to three weeks then back to two weeks as to how long it'd been since she'd been out of the hospital so that left me feeling a bit confused and wondering what was going on at points.

While I'm sure others found the bedroom scenes steamy, I found them lacking and almost dull at times as they were once again quite similar to the first story. Then again the dirtier and more detailed the better in my world.

All in all I would say it was a 4 star book and hope the next one is much different in terms of plotline and character development.

“Anything worth anything is worth the fight.”

Slade Martin is the ultimate bad boy, arrogant MMA fighter. He was a total player, until he finally gets Jessica Cross to say yes to going out with him after Jess is finally away from her abusive boyfriend. While Jess healed Slade took care of her, and they slowly fell into a relationship.

When Dennis, Jess's ex, gets out on bail he makes his intentions with Jess and his future known. Jess has to choose between saving Slade and breaking his heart.

It's always a good read when someone can tame the bad boy. Not completely take away his man card but take that edge off to see the sweet caring man underneath. I am really enjoying this series. I am a huge fan of MMA, alpha men and tattoos...this series is a total win in my book! Can't wait to see what's next for Worth the Fight.

This is the second in the series – and although I have read them in a slightly odd order 3, 1, 2 – I have enjoyed them all. The story follows on from book 1, but now our attention is turned to Slade and Jessica. We knew that there was some significant chemistry between them, and that Slade was uncharacteristically serious about her, but a tussle with her abusive boyfriend brought it to a halt. Now that the boyfriend has landed her in hospital all bets are off.

There are undoubtedly some serious messages in this story, but there is also a lovely level of humour and closeness that is very appealing. After Jack's story it was no surprise that Slade too was a player, with a lot of women hanging around for attention from the hot MMA fighter. For Jessica to trust him was the challenge. The 'dates' were fun, as was her wonderful honesty and evident pleasure at his attention. The romance and the drama fitted with the characters and I cannot wait to read more about this bunch of entertaining and interesting people.

Sidney Halston lives her life with one simple rule: “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” Mark Twain, or even simpler, “Just Do It” Nike.

And that’s exactly what she did. After working hard as an attorney, Sidney picked up a pen for the first time at thirty years old to begin her dream of writing. Having never written anything other than very exciting legal briefs, she found an outlet for her imaginative romantic side and wrote Seeing Red, among four other novels currently in the works, including the sequel to Seeing Red. That first pen stroke sealed the deal and she fell in love with writing.

Sidney lives in South Florida with her husband and children. She loves her family above all else, and reading follows a close second. When she’s not writing you can find her reading and reading and reading… She’s a reader first and a writer second.

When she’s not writing or reading her life is complete and utter chaos trying to balance family life with work, and writing (and reading). But she wouldn’t have it any other way.
