Too Hip for Love by Sindra van Yssel

For years Karen has gone to Parker’s home every Saturday afternoon to be tied up, spanked, and aroused by the masterful Dom. She loves being his toy, but it’s all just play. While Parker loves to play with her body and her mind, he’s too good a man to play with her heart. And getting too wrapped up in one person would make it harder to have fun kinky times with others. But now Karen wants something more than a reliable top. She wants love, like her friends Craig and Alicia have, and a future with someone, even if she has to give up kink to get it.

Parker can see Karen drifting away from him. He knows she’s searching for something he’s not providing. For years Karen has been his rock – way more than a plaything. He wants what’s best for her, and if that’s not him, he has to accept it – unless he can change her mind, or they can change together.

Dawn☆☆☆
I enjoyed the idea of this book. Karen wants Parker for more that the arranged Saturdays and is scared to bring the subject up just in case she loses him. But at the same time wants more from life than just a Saturday afternoon.

I would have enjoyed the book more if I felt more connected to the characters. I felt that there was no chemistry between Karen and Parker. For me the only hot scene was when other people were also involved.

There was nothing wrong with the story itself, however for me there was just something lacking that I actually can't put my finger on.

Karen and her friends frequent a BDSM club and Karen even has a weekly appointment with Parker. Those visits and appointments used to be enough for Karen but now Karen wants more. She wants more with Parker but knows that he doesn't feel the same way. Wanting to have a relationship and eventually a family Karen joins dating sites. After a weekend date goes bad Parker comes and rescues her. This was a short but good story. I liked how things progressed with Karen and Parker, I just with the book was longer.

Sex: Yes
Religious: No

The Players: Parker and Karen

The Story: Karen and Parker have been playing every Saturday for quite a while. They also play together on occasion at the local BDSM club with some of their other friends.

Lately, Karen has been ... restless. She is feeling that life is passing her by, she wants a home, kids, and a husband. She'd like to have that with Parker, but in the beginning they had agreed to keep it strictly a Master/Sub relationship. Parker has feelings for Karen as well, but having been hurt badly in the past, he's reluctant to say the words and make that kind of commitment again -- until Karen is hurt and his world comes sharply into focus.

Plot: A few twists and turns that kept the reader on her toes. I enjoyed the way the author took Master/Sub relationship and showed how it progressed from a "simple" (for the lack of a better word) relationship to one where both parties are free to express their true feelings.

Part of a Series: No

Heat Level: fairly spicy

This story can be read as a standalone, although it involves characters that we first met in Take Me With You. It was good to see how that relationship had developed.

I am a fan of books where both leads are just unable to express clearly what they feel, for fear of losing what they have already ... and I think that Ms. van Yssel has created a fun and erotic story for our enjoyment. It is a quick read and combines hot and romantic in good measure. I hope that there are more to come – Alex, Tori and others have stories to tell too!

I live in Northern Virginia with my partner, my teenage son, and a lot of fish. For many years I was active in our local BDSM community. Yes, people really do the things people do in my books!

By day I work in a public library, where I get to meet all kinds of readers. I've a soft spot for happy endings and characters who learn more about themselves, but I enjoy torturing my characters along the way, too. Hopefully you'll enjoy watching them squirm as much as I do.
