Wicked Reads Reviews – Addicted by Tracy Wolff

Ethan Frost returns in another breathtaking novel by Tracy Wolff—New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Ruined—perfect for fans of Release Me and Bared to You.

As Chloe Girard discovers, there’s love . . . and then there’s addiction.

Ethan Frost is everything a woman could want in a man. He’s rich, gorgeous, powerful, one of the most eligible bachelors in the world.

But that’s not why I’m with him.

I love Ethan for all the things no one else gets to see: his innate kindness, his reckless spontaneity, his unwavering determination to use his brilliance for good. I love the way he looks at me, the way he touches me. The way he makes me forget the wreckage of my past and the twisted fear that still lives inside me.

But sometimes it terrifies me how much I crave him, how much I need him just to breathe. I always thought it would be my past that ruined us, but there’s a darkness in Ethan I never dreamed existed. Can we survive as his secrets surface—threatening to unravel us both?

Wow, if I had ever had an addiction I would imagine it would have the same emotions this book evoked. I feel like a ping pong ball that has been paddled for hours, back and forth. I'm exhausted. The emotional angst in this book could power a nuclear bomb. Well written and it sucked me in from the first chapter. Amazingly talented writer, but I think I prefer her snowboard series, less emotional. Overall entertainment is five stars.

I loved Ruined there was the unknown, Chloe opening up about her past, the suspense of what Chloe would do, how Ethan would fix it, the secrets, the lies, the angst between them, the want, the need.

With Addicted it seemed rushed and some of the basic facts from Ruined had changed. The story picked up right where Ruined left off. The future for Ethan and Chloe left unknown. When they weren't playing the back and forth game. She hates him, she wants him, she can't live without him, to he ruined her life. I found it boring. I did a lot of skimming in this one. I hate to admit that but I did. I was bored. In the end we were right back to the I can't do this phase.

I am a fan of Ms. Wolff's work but this one just missed the mark for me.

This is the second book in a series, and definitely book 1 Ruined needs reading first.

In Ruined we meet new intern Chloe, who believes herself to be ruined, and her alpha employer Ethan, who has her firmly in his sights. His persistence and care persuaded her to step out of her comfort zone. Ending very dramatically, it was good to have book 2 to hand! It is more difficult now to determine if in fact it was also Ethan who was ruined, and certainly questionable as to who is more addicted to whom. The story gets a bit lost at times, but the heat and chemistry stay firm. I am glad there is a book 3 Exposed, as there are a lot of questions still let in my head.

Tracy Wolff collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where—and sometimes who—she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. Now an English professor at her local community college, she writes romances that run the gamut from contemporary to paranormal to erotic suspense.
