Accidentally on Purpose by Jill Shalvis

There’s no such thing as a little in love...

Elle Wheaton’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer... which should only take a lifetime...

There’s no such thing as a little in lust...

Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco earthquake and he craves her 24/7, but Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him...

There is such a thing as...

As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along...

I'd been eagerly awaiting Elle and Archer's story, so when Accidentally on Purpose hit my e-reader at 1pm I started reading immediately, only putting to the book down when absolutely necessary. By the end of the night, I devoured the whole book.

Elle and Archer are desperately attracted to each other and in complete denial. Their past complicates their present and they both have such high walls built up around themselves it makes taking the risk being honest with each other much harder. But it also makes it about a million times hotter whenever they give into their attraction. I got wrapped up in this so easily because the emotions they are feeling were so strong I could feel them.

I loved Accidentally on Purpose, I hung on every word. It is a fantastic, sexy, fun romance with some danger too. Each book in the Heartbreaker Bay series can be read as a standalone, but given how great the series is, I'd say start at the beginning and read each book in turn, you won't regret it.

5 stars of absolute perfection!

This is the third book in the series – and I loved those too, but this one is just perfect! I would recommend that you read them in order, so that you understand the background better, but it is a great read on its own too.

You know sometimes a book just works for you – maybe it's the timing, maybe it's your mood, or maybe it's just because the author writes so well, that really it was no surprise at all! Whatever it was, I stayed up until my eyes couldn't take any more, and then the second I was awake, I was reading again until the (sob sob) last page.

Elle is such a great character, with such a tough past, and a self-made future, yet she doesn't really understand what a good person she is too. She certainly doesn't give herself the credit that all her friends know she deserves. If you have been following the series, you will know the gang's composition and dynamics, and as Elle finally works out, she has a family right there, where she works and plays.

Archer is a man who changed his whole life because of Elle, many years ago. She may feel guilty about that – but he would not have it any other way. Now that they work in neighbouring offices, and have mutual friends, the chemistry that bubbles between them is about to explode. The set up between these two is so clever, so complicated, and so in need of resolution... and there is the crux of this story.

This is one of those page turners where at times you don't want to turn the page and the wonderful feelings go, or something go wrong, but at the same time, you want to get the situation resolved... such a dilemma!

Thank you, Ms. Shalvis for a great addition to this series – I am going to have to re-read it soon, and this series is most definitely high on my list of favourites.

In this installment of the Heartbreaker Bay series we finally found out the backstory between Archer and Elle, and boy is it heartbreaking.

Determined to overcome her troublesome childhood, Elle has only one thing on her mind: being an accountant and securing a safe future for herself. She's working hard at it, putting in 40 hours a week as the building manager for Spence while taking online classes to complete the degree. The only bump in the road is Archer Hunt – the head of the Hunt Group. The Hunt Group is a security firm that not only occupies space in the building, but provides security for it as well.

Archer has known Elle for a long time, and is having a hard time keeping her in the friend-zone. It doesn't help matters that Elle can't seem to stop herself from irritating him. Or is it the other way around?

Elle can't stop blaming herself for Archer leaving the police force and for all the things she believes that Archer gave up on her behalf.

I really love this series, and it was nice seeing familiar characters once again.
