Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is book five of the Record series – the first three telling Brady's story, the next Clay's, and now at last we get Savannah's. She has no intention of following the political dynasty, but instead plans on being a journalist.

All her life Savannah has known and been best friends with Lucas Attwood. Their parents spend a lot of time together, so their lives are fully intermeshed. That said, they did split when it was time to go to college, and the feelings they have had for each other somehow caused a rift. So, even though they both love each other, they both try to move on. For Lucas, his basketball ensured he was popular with the ladies, but he never really stopped loving Savi. Savannah, though, fell for Easton and now, three years on, is moving with him to DC to start their careers.

Easton has had to be very understanding of Savi and Lucas seeing each other often, but when he finds Lucas is drafted to DC too, he takes a drastic step to secure his woman. I felt that he behaved absolutely as I would have imagined, and have to say it was difficult to dislike him, even if he was obviously not going to win the day!

It was fun having the mix of newbie in a big newspaper office with politics, with sport – and liberal dashings of second-chance romance, family obligations, and a rather excessive desire to not rock the boat. I felt it worked well and there was enough to see them as flawed individuals growing up in a slightly rarified world, and making that transition from student to worker, as well as from friend to lover. It was also good to catch up with the Maxwell clan too.

Avid Reader☆☆☆
M/F Romance – Second-Chance Romance

I read only the first book in this series and then this one. While I didn't necessarily feel that something was missing, I'm unsure if the backstory between the main characters happens in previous books.

Savannah has grown up as part of the political circle. She knows that she has to act a certain way, live a certain way, and that there are certain expectations of her. Now that she is moving in with Easton, her boyfriend of three years, and she's getting her dream job, Savannah believes everything is on its way. When she sees Lucas again at her graduation party, she is swept back to before.

Lucas has tried to stay away as much as possible. He knows that his presence throws Savannah off a little, but he also knows that they were best friends for years and he wanted to congratulate her on starting her new life. Lucas is also getting what he always wanted – he's going to the NBA.

When Savannah's mom meddles in her life, she finds herself at a party with Lucas while Easton is back home.

This book felt very young adult. It was almost like these main characters were teenagers in adult situations. I didn't like how wishy-washy the main character leads were in their attempts in their relationships. Perhaps if I had read previous books, it might have been more cohesive, but it just felt very truncated.

Also, it didn't really seem that Savannah and Lucas or Savannah and Easton really had any chemistry. They were more friends than anything and then all of a sudden there was a relationship. Overall, while it was a quick read, it just wasn't what I expected. I found myself somewhat bored with the interactions.
