Finders Keepers by N.R. Walker

Needing a change of scene, Griffin Burke moves from Brisbane to Coolum Beach to start a new job. The beautiful white sand, aqua-coloured ocean, blue skies, and summer breezes are everything he longs for. What he finds is a mud-covered dog, lost and hungry, with a nametag and a phone number.

Dane Hughes is stuck in Surfers Paradise at a week-long work conference when he gets a phone call from his distraught mother. His dog, his fur baby, Wicket, has run away. Unable to leave and feeling helpless and miserable, he gets a text from a guy. “I think I found your dog…”

Griffin and Dane start talking, and Griffin agrees to look after Wicket until Dane can collect him. With a few days left before his new job starts, Griffin takes Wicket on some coastal adventures and sends Dane photos of their fun, and so the start of something new and kind of wonderful begins.

Griffin might have moved to Coolum in search of a new life, but what he finds is so much more. What he gets to keep just might take some four-legged help.

I simply loved this book. Sugar sweet, no angst, and so much love. Anytime a dog is involved you know it's gonna be good. I just wish we had pictures of Wicket. Griffin finds Wicket while hiking and then again the next day when he goes back to hike again. Realizing Wicket is probably lost, he calls the number on his collar. This begins a sweet texting relationship with Dane, Wicket’s owner. I love the chemistry between Griffin and Dane. Such a sweet, feel good book. I also love Griffin’s neighbor, Bernice, and her man, K. Great feel-good love story. Read it in one sitting and I highly recommend it.

4.5 stars of super cute, super sexy romance, with a side of lovable pooch!

Ms. Walker writes superb stories about intelligent, stable, and delicious men. This is no exception – but this time we get the addition of an escapologist dog called Wicket. Thanks to his bid for freedom, his finder, Griffin, gets to meet a keeper in Wicket's owner, Dane.

There is a wonderful mix of very funny, very cute, pretty moving, and super hot. Bernice and K provide quite a lot of the funny, and there is a lovely twist in their story, which I will not spoil. Wicket is undoubtedly the key to the main romance, and I loved that the picture on the cover did Ms. Walker's description justice.

I have put this in my reread pile because there are times when nothing will do but a really feel good story, and this definitely fits the bill.

This story is just too cute! Dog lovers will immediately fall in love with Griffin, the man who rescues a lost puppy and cares for him until his owner can collect him. But I also fell hard for Dane, the man who is beside himself when his parents lose his dog while he is travelling for work. Dane and Griffin bond over the obscene amount of attention and affection they both provide for Wicket, but they also find an attraction building before they ever meet.

This is a simple, sweet and fluffy romance. But as always with NR Walker’s writing, the characters are brilliantly developed, and the sense of place is wonderful. I was as much in love with Griffin’s senior citizen hippie landlord, her hash brownies, and her surfing tips as I was with Griffin and Dane.

Every now and then, I need a book like this. Amid the angst and grit of most m/m romance, this story is a refreshing burst of sunshine and happiness. And I loved it!

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is many things: a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don’t let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words. She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things... but likes it even more when they fall in love.

She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

She’s been writing ever since...
