“This is who I
am. This is what I want. Now I need a man dangerous enough to give it to me.”
Graduate student Vivienne Charles is afraid of her own desires—ashamed to admit that she fantasizes about being taken by force, by a man who will claim her completely and without mercy. When the magnetic, mysterious Jonah Marks learns her secret, he makes an offer that stuns her: they will remain near-strangers to each other, and meet in secret so that he can fulfill her fantasy.
Their arrangement is twisted. The sex is incredible. And—despite their attempts to stay apart—soon their emotions are bound together as tightly as the rope around Vivienne’s wrists. But the secrets in their pasts threaten to turn their affair even darker...
Reader Advisory: Asking for It deals explicitly with fantasies of non-consensual sex. Readers sensitive to portrayals of non-consensual sex should be advised.

“My fantasies always begin normally...but no matter how explicit and erotic the kaleidoscope gets, it never ever gets me off. Only one fantasy does that.”
Every once and a while I need a dark read. I, for the most part, read vanilla, but I love getting a little dark. When I do I want it to be extreme. I thought I found it with this one. The blurb spoke to my dark side, the prologue was perfect. I couldn't wait to get more into this one. I was there in the dark recesses of my mind, thinking the scenes were hot and sexy. Loving where it was going minus Vivienne’s POV, (that really got boring at times). I was completely enjoying this read until BAM it turned into what I would call a typical romance book. I wanted, no needed, the anger, the pain, the hate, the...well anything but what I got. It then leaves you with an unfinished ending, not really a cliffhanger but just sort of ends, but it's written so you feel you know what's coming in the next one.

This book was a bit of a surprise for me. I expected it to be dark, but it was really so much more. It certainly had some aspects of a dark book (the forced sex) but it wasn't all dark. There was more to both characters and their reasons for what they wanted in the bedroom.
There is a romance there too, which was subtle at first and grew as the book progressed and things got more emotional and family became involved.
While this wasn't as dark as I wanted (or it could've gone), it was still a good read for me that I couldn't put down as I couldn't wait for their next scene together.
It does have a bit of a cliffy though so be warned, I can't wait for more of their story.

This book has a very sensitive subject matter so read the warning before you dive into this book. I enjoyed this book as it was written really well.
Vivienne thinks there is something wrong with her because of the fantasies she has, when she meets Jonah she starts to act on them.
What I liked about this book was the line never blurred from fantasy to reality as both parties always knew it was consensual.
We also learn why Vivienne is the way she is in the form of flashbacks.
It was a great read I would recommend it.

I am not sure how to write my review or even how I feel about this book, I am still letting it all sink in. This book deals with sensitive issues and could set off some triggers in people so be warned this book isn’t for the faint at heart. Vivienne has taboo fantasies that stem from a past trauma. Jonah has his own past issues but is willing to help make her fantasies come true. At times Vivienne is so strong and at others she is shameful about her wants which is probably normal in this case. I wouldn’t call this a romance between Jonah and Vivienne but there is a connection there. The author did a great job dealing with the subject and the book does end with a cliffhanger so we all have to wait and see what happens next.
