Having always been fearful of being hurt, Abasha Celine
shunned love and relationships. She found herself in situations, which meant
she had random sexual encounters with a couple of her friends who provided
benefits. However, the day she walked into the art gallery and Shaka Fortune
spoke to her, things changed.
"Hello...I'm Shaka Fortune, welcome to my work."
Color suffused her mahogany face as her eyes drank in his tall, ebony countenance. Usually very verbose she said nothing for several minutes. His face opened in a grin as he rubbed her hand, sending colorful shock waves through her.
"And you are?"
"Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place," flew from her mouth. She felt as if she would collapse from desire and embarrassment. Staring into her eyes, he willed himself not to lick her face. He'd never enjoyed such a visceral reaction to any woman.
“So, it does. I love a woman, who loves Zora."
Finally, pulling her hand away Abasha maneuvered her way through the gallery. Shaka was known for his ebony nudes, highlighted by swirls of color. Most of the canvases were huge but a medium one caught her eye. The woman was in recline, her skin the color of teak with shades of orange showing as veins. Her natural hair covered most of her face, but her orange lips showed prominently.

I had a hard time getting into this story.
There were numerous typos and punctuation errors that almost had me discontinuing the book, but the story was unique and held my attention.
Abasha Celine is a guidance counselor, daughter, and a sister. Her family is very important to her, as is her independence.
She decided to check out an art gallery showing of an artist that she enjoyed, Shaka Fortune. What she wasn't expecting was Mr. Fortune to be mingling!
This is a sweet (albeit quick) romance, with a couple of erotic scenes, but mostly these two are coming together and finding themselves "head over heels".
Book 2
Having never done a one subject show, Shaka felt like a novice but his spirit knew it was right. Since meeting and falling for Abasha Celine six months earlier she was all he painted. It was if he wanted to realize her over and over again. There were eight paintings and they were of parts of her. One canvas was of her eyes, there was another of her mouth, there was one he would never show and it was of where her thighs met; that place that brought him so much pleasure and from where he wanted his child to spring. He felt like a novice because she hadn't seen the paintings. He painted late into the night while she slept or the nights she insisted on sleeping in her own place. He hated that but understood her reticence. He wasn't trying to rush her but he wanted her in his space every night.
He started pacing as he did when thinking. The ringing doorbell startled him. Naked, he made his way to answer it. He knew it was his love. Opening the door, he stood behind it. Walking in, she glanced around. Kicking the door shut, he stepped out in all his ebony glory. Giggles erupted from her throat. Mock horror covered his face.
"Woman, do not laugh at him, he's very sensitive to ridicule."
Dropping to her knees...

The second part of the Soul Crawling Trio was very interesting, and I felt it was more involved than the 1st.
The love story between Abasha & Shaka continues, but now we get more about Reginald (brother) and Reggia (mother).
I found myself cheering for Reggia and enjoyed reading about her dynamic with Isaac. She really deserves her HEA.
Again, the story was interesting and went beyond a typical romance. The other characters were prominent, as was the combination of the main characters lives!
This was a happy story, filled with uplifting joy, sweet romance, and finding each characters "true" selves.
