Trina just wanted to wake up each morning and go to bed
every night at peace with the tragedy that was her past. She had been through
hell the last year. After losing something she never knew she had, then almost
losing her life, things were finally looking up. Desperately wanting to move
on, Trina and her dog Toby decided the beach was where they wanted to go. Maybe
they would stay here and call this home.

The east coast was as far away from home as Sam was going to get. He was still reeling from a losing season riddled with injuries. He was emotionally and physically exhausted. He needed to clear his head before he embarked on a summer of make believe, dress up and baby dolls, with his niece, Morgan.
Sam never counted on meeting her. The beautiful blonde with the edgy look and amazing voice, she blindsided him. Before he knew what had happened, he had fallen hard and fast for her. After only a few short days he couldn't imagine going back to the west coast without her.

Trina didn't see romance coming until it was too late. She
had demons in her past that he didn't yet understand, and she wasn't sure she
was ready to let Sam in. Could only a few days with him change the rest of her
life?

Ruthie – ☆☆☆
This short and sweet novella set over one summer, introduces the reader to a damaged girl and a reformed hockey player. Both have a past and one is uncertain about the future. As all is revealed, Sam shows what a good man he is, all over again. There is a good level of character development, and their interactions work well. The T names annoyed me, but Trina did explain, which helped. Overall the writing style was ok, and the story flowed well.
I'm a big fan of hockey based romances, so was pleased to read that these characters and more will be featuring in future releases by this new author. For a first novel this definitely shows promise and as we all know, practice makes perfect.

Melody was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she lives with her husband, son and two dogs. The whole family are avid Pittsburgh Penguins fans and like going to hockey games when they get the chance. Melody enjoys taking her son to meet the players on game days. It's no secret that meeting the players is just as exciting for her as it is for her son; especially when it comes to her favorite player!
Melody has loved writing since she was small, in school she never met a creative writing assignment that she didn't love. She is lucky enough to have a wonderful husband who encourages her to write. When she was laid off from her job of 14 years, he was supportive about letting her stay home and take care of their son. During that time she discovered hockey-romances and found a renewed love of reading as well as a passion for writing.
She spends her spare time reading hockey romances. At holiday time she really enjoys any romance about Christmas. During the hockey off-season, she enjoys swimming and spending her days out in the sun.
