Gabe...what can I say about the crazed, dark, delusional man that somewhat has a heart?

Does he have a heart? In his own sick twisted way, he loves Baylee.

Baylee was your typical seventeen-year-old girl. She was in love with her high school boyfriend, debating when they would have sex. Lusting over the neighbor who was much older than her. Until the night that everything changed.

She is taught things she wasn't ever ready for. She learned things about herself that disgust her. She lives in fear and finds comfort in the arms of the devil. When she's sold to the highest bidder, she has no idea what lies ahead. Will this man be worse than Gabe? Will he want to violate her in ways she can't understand?

War is fighting his own battle. He's stuck inside his head. Being with Baylee is the one thing that can calm his demons. Will she be able to keep all the monsters at bay?

This is my first K. Webster read and I can assure you it won't be my last. I could not put This is War, Baby down. I was so in love with War. The battle he fought within himself was heartbreaking.

Baylee Winston is 17 years old and seems to have the perfect life, well almost. Her mother is sick, her Dad is a little strict, and her neighbor Gabe is strange in the way he watches her. While Baylee has a boyfriend, she is still a virgin but that changes when she is kidnapped. And it turns out that her kidnapper is Gabe and he is going to get her ready to sell her to the highest bidder. So he has to train her to in ways she has never thought about. After a few weeks of training, the auction has arrived and Baylee prays that a good and kind man buys her. When she meets a man that wants to carve words into her skin and then kill her, she wants to run and never look back. All the while Gabe is telling her that he will rescue her from whoever buys her.

When she is bought for 5 million dollars, Gabe gets the money and Baylee meets Warren "War" McPherson. A strange man at first meeting but Baylee learns that he doesn't want to hurt her and he didn't buy her to hurt her. He only wanted a companion, someone to talk to. So Baylee tries to learn why War is the way he is and in the process they fall in love with each other. She is the light in his darkness. She will cry for him when she learns about his past and what makes him the way he is. Can she help him to be a normal person again? Will War help Baylee see that love is all she needs? And will they learn why no one is looking for her? What happens if Gabe finds her?

This is a first for me from K. Webster and I need book 2 NOW please.

What can I say about this book? It has a little bit of EVERYTHING: Intrigue, dark depravity, dub-con, suspense, sweetness, true romance – EVERYTHING!
This story is broken down into two parts: Gabe (part 1) and Warren (part 2) and these parts are complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

Now, Baylee is 17 years old...she gets caught up in an awful situation (not of her doing) and handles everything very well, I feel it was often "too" well for her age and experience. Something was just off for me.
After the super dark period we enter the complete opposite situation, but at the hands of a mentally unstable man (not abusive, just a bit neurotic). This is where I find more fault with Baylee's reactions to the situation.
I really don't want to give anything away – this was a very interesting read and I would highly recommend it, I would just keep my expectation of the heroine low.
Besides that, the ending KILLED me!!! I really, REALLY need to know what happens next.


Rachael – ☆☆☆☆☆
This was a surprising book for me. I thought it was going to be a dark read, when in reality it certainly had dark parts, but there is so much more going on in this book. We get to meet War, who has been through an extremely traumatic event in his life that has set him off into a twisted world ruled by OCD, anxiety, and a few other behavior altering things thrown in the mix.

I can't believe how much I really loved this book. The way we come to know War and Bay is so great. Their relationship grows and develops at such a sweet rate even with the sexual tension there that neither of them can act upon.

I can't wait for the second part of this series to find out what happens because the end of this book leaves my heart hurting and tears burning in my eyes.

Holy book hangover, Batman!! All I can say is I love this book!! It's my first read by K Webster and I think I'm her newest fan girl! Her style of writing just grabbed me and didn't let go. This is War, Baby is a little dark in the beginning. Then becomes lighter, almost hopeful at times, but heartbreaking all at the same time. K Webster took me on ride, I wasn't expecting. I can't wait for This is Love!
