Heartbreaker by Kat Bastion & Stone Bastion is Now Available & Reviewed

Kiki Michaelson wants one wild night to forget her starving-artist worries. Simple.

Only instead of Darren Cole becoming her one-night stand, he taunts her with a challenge. Then while she’s trying to best him at his own game, he turns out to be the last thing she’s prepared for: someone she wants to keep.

Which means all he can ever be…is a friend.

Darren Cole never allows a girl to get close—not close enough to matter.

Then storms in Kiki Michaelson, a beautiful, fearless temptation that rocks his world off-balance. But he fights their attraction, unwilling to gamble something physical with their close ties. Until the passionate sculptor exposes her heart and breaks his wide open.

In that moment it becomes clear: she could never be just a friend.

Sometimes what you run from…is exactly what you need.

***HEARTBREAKER is a standalone, full-length new adult romance told in dual POV. Due to mature themes and adult language, this book is for those 18 and older.***

What a really, really lovely read. Although this deals with some difficult issues – both emotional and financial – it remains a book full of hope. It sets the stage perfectly in both terms of the people and the place. I could feel myself walking around Kiki's patio, smelling the herbs and admiring the mismatched furniture. I could feel the tension between her and Darren, and the draw that they could not deny. The buildup was monumental, delicious, and the fall was inevitable. I loved the running, the feelings it evoked, the metaphors for their lives – and that they recognised them. Logan was a treat, an old soul. It was all utterly enchanting. My one piece of advice, don't start it too late at night, because otherwise, like me you will find it is two am when you turn the last page, and somehow you'll have to drag yourself up for work in the morning!

I am delighted that this is the first in the series, and will be clamouring to get the next book as soon as it is available.

This was an awesome read, I really enjoyed it!

Kiki Michaelson is an artist, metal being her medium, who has had a rough past when it comes to love. One-night stands are what works for her and she has her sights set on Darren Cole, a DJ who works for her family’s company sometimes. Darren has his own demons to deal with, he was given custody of his sister after his mother committed suicide, and with his sister’s depression issues, Darren is scared to bring a woman into his life. Darren knows that Kiki deserves more than a one-night stand so they come to an agreement to just be friends. When Kiki decides to take up running and Darren becomes her trainer, the sparks begin to fly between the two and what started as a goal one-night stand to Kiki, turns into much more.

I really enjoyed the progression of this story, it has everything from serious health issues to crazy adventures and it made for a great page turner. I didn’t realize until after I finished the book that it’s written by a husband/wife team – they do a phenomenal job and I look forward to reading more from them.
