Working undercover at a strip club is not my usual kind of job. If it weren’t a great opportunity to show the Mike Bravo team I can run my own op, I wouldn’t have agreed to it.

I don’t know why he’s working here if he looks down on us dancers so much. He could bartend at a regular club.

But when he saves me from a drunken customer getting too handsy, his attitude suddenly flips, and we find ourselves becoming… friends?

Some dancers refuse to scrounge for money being thrown on stage, and I get it—it can sometimes feel degrading—but majority of the time, it’s the biggest power trip of all. They’re paying to watch me.

I get down on the stage to my hands and knees and crawl toward the nearest table with the most patrons, showing off my killer smile while I lean back so they get a look at my long torso and defined abs that only appear when I’m this stretched out. They’re baby abs, but they’re abs.

Money gets thrown at me, and I move on to another table of rowdy guys. Hey, I play the numbers game. More guys, more money. At least, that’s what I tell the newbs. If they play their cards right, they’ll get money no matter which table they go to.

I’m kind of the unspoken go-to guy here. Any problems, worries, insecurities, the dancers come to me. And I love that too. I’ll do anything to keep each and every one of them safe, and I might look sweet on the stage, but if you fuck with one of my guys, I’ll fuck you up right back. This kitty’s got claws.

The second table is full of hot as fuck muscular men who look like they could hurt me in the best possible way. And worst, if I think about it too hard. Which I won’t.

Instead, I move to the very end of the stage and rise up on my knees so my thong is the only thing separating me from the main guy up front and then pout and wiggle my hips, encouraging him to slip me some bills in the tiny scrap of material.

Then some stupid drunken oaf barrels in from the back, knocking over my meal ticket’s seat in the process, and then pawing at me like a lion in heat.

This happens occasionally, and I’m generally good at handling it, but this guy is three times my size. I grip the jerk’s hair by the root, which, there isn’t much of, and say, “Easy.”

“Yeah, you are,” he yells with a slur in his voice.

“Oh, fuck you.” I shove him off me playfully and my words are tinged with sweetness because it’s the best way to deal with drunken morons, but it doesn’t work this time. He comes back at me again. I manage to shuffle backward, but I’m not fast enough.

This mammoth of a man is practically climbing onto the stage.

Where the fuck is security? When I glance over the guy’s head, I notice they’re trying to break up a fight between two other meatheads.

Great.

What is with all the fuckery tonight?

Just when I think I’m going to have to bring out the big guns and somehow find a way for my foot to connect with his junk, he’s pulled off me and punched in the face by—ugh.

Atlas. Pfft. What a stupid name for a pompous, judgmental bartender.

Not that I can talk. Hello, my name is Lemon, but that’s my stage name. Not my real name.

I usually get a sense of people instantly, but other than the stares of disdain he gives all the dancers, I can’t read the guy. The disgust in his eyes is too loud to detect what’s underneath.

I’m freed from the big guy trying to climb me, but I’m stuck, frozen as I watch the bartender and the customer go at it.

Fists are swung, and despite knowing he finds me disgusting, watching a big burly man fight for my honor is kind of a turn on.

Damn him.

Some of the guys who were at the table pull Atlas off their friend, but security is finally free to step in.

The entire group of men are tossed out on their asses, and I breathe a sigh of relief as I watch them go.

“Lemon?” A big hand waves in front of my face. “Hello?”

My attention snaps to the man in front of me, and his deep brown eyes no longer hold judgment. They show concern.

That might be worse.

“Well, hello, sailor. Where’d you come from?” Distracting flirt mode: activated.

“Are you okay?” he asks with genuine worry in his tone.

My throat feels tight. “Never been better.”

Either he doesn’t believe me or maybe my poker face isn’t as good as it used to be because he steps forward, scoops me into his wide as fuck arms, and says, “Let’s get you backstage.”

Despite wanting to protest, I let my arms wrap around his neck. “I could’ve handled that myself, you know.” Me, petulant? What? Never.

“I’m sure you could have.” Surprisingly, there’s no condescension like I expect there to be.

“I can walk.”

“I got you.”

Damn, if that doesn’t make my insides melt.

He takes me through the door marked employees only to our dressing room and places me gently on a chair. When he stands again, I take in the amazing body I’ve tried to ignore since he started here.

The man is a tank. Tall, wide. Just as big as the guy who pawed at me out there. He has a faux mohawk with dark roots but blonder tips. He’s jacked everywhere, and unlike my bright yellow thong that hugs my dick nice and cozy-like, it looks like his gigantor of a penis wants to escape the confines of his black one.

“Are you okay?” he asks again.

The smile that finds my face isn’t even forced. “I’m good. I promise."

Heart Stings is the 19.5 installment of the Elemental Assassins series. It is important that you read all the installments in order to get a grasp of the world building and the series continuum.

Reading this was like a small gift I didn't expect to receive. It's been so long since I read this series, such a delight to revisit the world. I always end up wanting to start the series from the beginning and do a reread.

Flawlessly picking up where Last Strand left off but with a new voice, Lorelei Parker is our narrator, and it was lovely to read from her point-of-view. A strong, clear voice, protective of her family, Lorelei was easy to relate to for this reader.

Hugh Tucker is an enemy of sorts, but he gets beneath Lorelei's skin in a not-so uncomfortable way, just rankles her to distraction. Their interactions are filled with heat and frustration on both their parts. A strong push-pull romance with a flair of love-hate. Tuck isn't as bad as we've seen him from Gin's point of view, or is he?

Heart Stings was a fun, quick weekend read, thoroughly enjoyable. Since I'm busy, the struggle is real as I fight the desire to reread the series from the beginning.

“Scared?” He asks, his voice so deep that it shakes me to the core.

Heresy is the fourth installment in the Antihero Inferno series. It CANNOT be read as a standalone and must be read in the order the author intended. I highly suggest going back and reading the series from the beginning (at least read the end of Violence to refresh your memory).

Heresy is Shane's story. Shane Carter is arrogant, impulsive, manipulative, and does exactly what he wants. When he meets his match with Brinley, the chemistry is chart topping. I loved everything about Heresy. Lily White is back and better than ever with this one. She had to keep us waiting but she did not disappoint when she brought us back into this world of chaos.

I cannot stress enough to read what's before this one or you will not get the full effect of this series. I am so excited for what's next!!

Heresy, book four in the Antihero Inferno series by Lily White, exceeded my expectations!

I love this series, but have my favorites and am adding Shane's book to that list. Shane will do anything that needs to be done. He may not employ "traditional" methods, but he always finds a way. He wasn't what I expected, and I can't fathom why I expected so little from him. I adore Brinley. She's true to herself and never compromises her beliefs! Together, though, these guys are FIRE!

If you've read the previous three books, you NEED this now. If you have yet to start, then I highly suggest you see to that immediately.

I cannot wait to see what's really going on...

I honestly should have re-read the previous books; it's been awhile but once I got back in the groove, this book flew! This is Shane and Brinley’s story and what a story it was. This author has a way of pulling you in from page one and you find yourself furiously turning the pages to see what's next. This book did not disappoint! Sexy, alluring, and full of chaos. This book has it all and you will enjoy it just as much as the previous books and you'll be wanting more of these nine men!

Perfect Enemy is the second book in the Beckham Dynasty series. I feel that this one can be read as a standalone without issue.

Cove has been Haven's best friend since they were four. Cove's parents basically left her with nannies or with Haven's parents. Haven is the baby of the family, making her oldest brother twenty years older. Cove has had a crush on Jace since she was eight. Jace, of course, never paid any attention to Cove and was away in the Navy while she was growing up. But he's back and he and Cove have had their run-ins. Jace is always pointing out how young and free Cove is acting. Cove is looking for love in all the wrong places and when that has her in a bind, the only person she hopes will save her is the one that got her into the mess in the first place.

Jace isn't what everyone thinks he is. The military has left scars that no one can see. The things he's done and seen haunt him at night. He hasn't been happy in years. “I’m Stuart. Thirty-seven, Capricorn, I’m a stylist and live in the city, but have visited this town a few times. It’s super sweet, I could totally see myself settling somewhere like here. I could open a salon. You obviously work out, so what else do you do besides pumping iron?” He props his head on his hands, tilting it to the side as he waits for my reply.

“I’m Carter. I’m a contractor.”

“Oh, so you’re good with your hands. I knew a big, buff guy like you would be.”

“Thanks. I, umm, live in town, but work all over depending on the job.” Lucas’s warm laugh sounds from somewhere on my left. I turn my head towards the sound, and like being pulled by a magnet, my gaze finds him. He’s sitting across from a man in a suit with slicked-back hair, flawlessly clean-shaven face, and impeccably manicured eyebrows. My jaw tightens.

Really? That guy?

I can’t see his face, but Lucas is smiling, and I hate that this man, whoever he is, is making Lucas smile that way. That’s my smile.

Stuart is talking again, and I’d be lying if I said I had any clue what he was saying. My gaze keeps being drawn back to Lucas.

Lucas is in the process of rebuilding his business and his life. When his bakery and apartment above it burn down due to faulty wiring, he moves into his best friend's house while he's off traveling with his boyfriend. His longtime crush, Carter, who is also staying at the house, is now his roommate and rebuilding his bakery and apartment. Lucas tries talking himself out of crushing on Carter but everything he does just makes it that much harder to stop falling for the man.

Carter dreams of finding the perfect relationship. All of his friends are finding theirs and he just wants someone to call his own. When he signs up for speed dating, he's surprised to find the person he clicks with the most is his roommate, Lucas. Suddenly seeing him in a new light, Carter can't stop thinking about the sweet baker who makes him the best cookies he's ever had.

I loved seeing Lucas and Carter's relationship build. They both wanted the same thing but didn't see what was right in front of them. They had so much chemistry between them.

I can't wait to see what's next!

This book picks up where the first book left off. You could read it as a standalone, but you would get more of the back story of the fire and why everything is happening. We met Lucas and Carter in book one. Lucas owns the town’s bakery. Carter is the local construction guy and best friends with Michael, Lucas's business partner. These guys both fancy each other but don't want to ruin their friendship, so they spend half the book keeping their feelings to themselves. Once they both get their heads out of their butts, it's a beautiful, sweet love story. I mean it's sweet before then, but even sweeter. The secondary characters are amazing, we met all of them in book one as well. I can't wait for Marcus to get his own book, I just love him. Another sweet love story to add to the series. If low-angst, sweet, sappy love is your jam, this book is for you!


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series, and whilst you could read this as a standalone, you would miss out on quite a lot of the background to the town, the guys, and the vibe – so do yourself a favour and read Michael and Bobby's story first.

The last book left us knowing that a fire had damaged Lucas and Michael's business and when the guys left for adventures abroad, Lucas would be living with Carter whilst the cafe, bakery, and Lucas's flat were rebuilt. We also know that Lucas has had a crush on Carter for a long time and this could be make or break!

I love that these stories are low angst, but still have enough tension and dilemmas that it is impossible not to want to turn the page again and again. These two are the ultimate definition of slow burn and worry about turning from friends to lovers – but I enjoyed the push pull and most definitely when they finally came to their senses.

The 'perfect' brownie recipe was a great foil to the stuttering romance, as was the question of whether brownie or cookie are best! I am definitely going to have to try out the 'secret' ingredient next time I bake.

It was great to have some catchups from Michael and Bobby, but also from the wider crew, and there are plenty of guys who deserve a happily ever after, even if the speed dating did not work!
