Last Strand by Jennifer Estep

Last Strand by Jennifer Estep. An Elemental Assassin Book. Coming March 16th.

Every bloody thread has been leading to this...

I’ve battled a lot of bad guys in my time, both as Gin Blanco and as the notorious assassin the Spider. But I’ve never faced off against anyone quite as powerful and deadly as the dastardly leader of the Circle secret society.

Just when I finally have a lead on how I can defeat the evil group once and for all, new information comes to light that throws me for a loop. Suddenly, everyone and everything I love is in imminent peril of being destroyed, and I’m racing against the clock to figure out a way to save my friends.

The stakes couldn’t be higher, and the danger has never been greater. Somehow, I need to weave one last strand in my web of death—and kill my enemies before they kill me...

Erica☆☆☆☆
This journey started with... My name is Gin, and I kill people... and it captivated me for more than a decade.

Last Strand is the 19th installment of the Elemental Assassin series. I don't recommend this title to be read as a standalone, start at the beginning with Spider's Bite. However, if you have a firm grasp of Gin, the world*building, and the magic system, a longtime reader would have no issue jumping right in if they had missed a few books prior.

Is this the Last Strand for our Spider, Gin Blanco? As of now, yes, we bid adieu. But should Jennifer Estep have the time and the inclination to revisit our favorite assassin, she has given the hint she may give readers more.

What has drawn me back to this series time and time again is the connection Gin has to the side characters. The warmth and heart within the unconventional family Gin has created for herself, while her thoughts kept the memory alive for those she has lost. This humanizes our favorite assassin, lends the ability for the reader to relate and empathize with a character so far out of our realm of understanding.

Jennifer Estep attempts to weave all the strands into an intriguing web, answering all of our questions while tying up loose ends, giving us a satisfying ending to what has been over a decade-long adventure for this reader.

Without spoiling a single word of the plot, the novel is packed with action and emotion, one last showdown between Gin and Mason, showcasing how cleverness, perseverance, and smarts can sometimes overcome unsurmountable odds.

I will miss the sarcasm, the wit, the snark and banter, the heart-stopping action set in a paranormal Ashland, and the loyalty to family and friend that Gin has brought to life, while looking forward to the intriguing worlds Jennifer Estep creates next.
