This is the fifth book in the series, and there are references to earlier books, but you could definitely enjoy it as a standalone – and then maybe go back and read the others.
One of the calendar models who was seriously affected by the poisoning incident, Derrick is glad to be back to his well-ordered life... until a hot dog vendor entices him to break some more rules. This fun mix of two people with very different outlooks on life is very enjoyable, and the shifter element has a dual purpose of bringing out Derrick's more playful nature and scenting his possible ill health.
As sexy as many of Bailey Bradford's stories, but with a rather lovely, caring side to the passion and intensity as well. I really enjoyed this installment.

A native Texan, Bailey spends her days spinning stories around in her head, which has contributed to more than one incident of tripping over her own feet. Evenings are reserved for pounding away at the keyboard, as are early morning hours. Sleep? Doesn't happen much. Writing is too much fun, and there are too many characters bouncing about, tapping on Bailey's brain demanding to be let out.
Caffeine and chocolate are permanent fixtures in Bailey's office and are never far from hand at any given time. Removing either of those necessities from Bailey's presence can result in what is known as A Very, Very Scary Bailey and is not advised under any circumstances.
