Strictly Confidential by Lynda Aicher

What’s your pleasure?

From Lynda Aicher, author of the bestselling Wicked Play books, comes an exclusive invitation to the Boardroom—where working late has its rewards.

Life is about power—who has it, who doesn’t.

Anyone who says otherwise hasn’t spent time in Kennedy Keller’s business-casual two-point-five-inch heels. A woman in a world very much run by men, Kennedy does whatever it takes to keep her power, in the office and outside of it.

Until she lets her guard down and decides to submit to a man for just one night. He’s everything she doesn’t usually let herself have: sexy, strong… dominant.

Matt Hamilton said goodbye to the Dom life years ago—power games and the delectable push/pull of dominance and submission might start in the bedroom, but it never stays there.

Reunited in the Boardroom, Matt and Kennedy test their desires and boundaries… and learn that one night is never just one night.

M/F romance, BDSM

Matt is recovering from thinking that his desires to be a dom are not good for him. He felt that he was losing control. However, when he meets Kennedy, he can't help but want again. His dom side is coming out and despite the fact that he wants to remain in some control, she is a weakness for him. When he lets his dom out to play, Matt realizes that he might find everything he's ever wanted in Kennedy.

Kennedy has worked hard for everything that she has. With a father who is less than approving, despite her following in his footsteps, she has to work twice as hard as anyone else in her position. When she needs to let off some steam, she enters the Boardroom. After she meets Matt and after they've had a few encounters, she can't help but crave what he can offer.

They need to work out a few issues, but overall, this is a good read about the lifestyle and how power and control can lead to a happy ending.

Kennedy is a woman in business. She's worked hard to be taken seriously in the very male-dominated world of shipping pallets. She's hoping that one day her father will see her hard work and reward her with the business she's helped to build. After a long day of networking and seminars, Kennedy is looking for some distraction, something completely not like her daytime persona. She decides to pick up a man in the hotel bar for a fling.

I liked Kennedy's character. She's no nonsense and full-on professional. Keeping business and pleasure clearly separate and working hard to be taken seriously in her business. She's relatable to today's women in the workforce, we want it all and don’t want to be made to feel guilty. Worrying a lot about being undermined and losing ground, I feel for her struggles. I like that she's also lonely and wanting companionship.

Matt gave up women and flings after his horrible divorce. His wife left him for a full time D/s relationship, abandoning their two children. Matt has dedicated his time and energy to his kids and his job. But when Kennedy approaches him in the hotel bar, he decides maybe it's time to have a little fun. He's unsure he can keep his dominant side from appearing during sex, because he doesn't want to get sucked into another D/s situation like his ex. Matt is an easy character to feel for from the beginning and he only grows on you as the story unfolds. Putting your kids first is noble in my eyes.

These two characters do burn it up when they're between the sheets. I enjoyed every encounter from the hotel room tryst to the Boardroom scenes. Kennedy letting Matt touch her during her usually exclusive "her pleasing herself only" scenes gave the emotional connection the story needed to get these two characters going.

I'm really quite enjoying all the Boardroom books even if this one wasn't my favorite, it was still a good installment.

This is the third book in the series – although there have been a couple of novellas too – I would recommend that you read them all, but this would standalone too, as long as you understand the rules of The Boardroom!

Kennedy has been making sure that she is treated with the same respect as a man in her business life, trying to get her father to take her seriously. She uses the Boardroom to retain control over her sexual encounters too. So when at a conference away from home, she indulges in an evening with someone who attracts her attention, she surprises herself even more by allowing him to direct the evening.

Matt has been bringing his children up alone, ever since his wife, who wanted a Master, left them as he did not want that type of relationship. His failure to satisfy her needs, and looking after his children, has meant he has not dated since, but his encounter with Kennedy could change his mind about that staying alone. Shame that they did not exchange details.

So when they meet in The Boardroom, they are both surprised, but both accept that there is something between them. We then get to watch on as they navigate through the complications that come with relationships that both of them have previously avoided. I really liked their every day, as well as the very passionate and fulfilling emotional journey, indulging in a simple level of D/s which works for them.

Another good installment in the series.
