Virgin Afternoon by Vonna Harper

A woman alone too long. A man who senses her need and knows what to do about it.

Long before Lara’s husband died, she committed to being his caregiver. Even though that meant no intimacy, she doesn’t regret having been there until the end. But now she’s alone and lonely—and she doesn’t know how to handle her sexual needs.

Bryan, her husband’s best friend, senses the emptiness inside her. It’s time for her to realize she’s a woman—if she has the courage.

Mary Jo☆☆☆
A short story of two people who have loved and lost and are in need of comfort. As Lara packs up her life with her recently deceased husband, with his friend Bryan at her side, she thinks about all she has lost. Long before her husband got sick, her marriage was a shell. She doesn't regret her time with him, but is longing to embrace life again.

Bryan is in a similar situation. His soon to be ex-wife has put work before their marriage and any possibility of a family. Wanting more out of life, they file for divorce.

So on this afternoon, Bryan and Lara realize that they both want the same thing. A chance at life and love.

Lara is leaving her heartache behind. She recently lost her husband, but their relationship had changed as soon as he became sick. Her role as a wife became a role of caregiver instead. She is tired and just wants to start again. So, while she's packing up her life, a good friend of her husband and herself, Bryan, is over to help her.

Bryan is also starting a new chapter in his life. He and his wife have decided that they are no longer a good match. He has known that he is attracted to Lara for a while now, but didn't want to confuse her when she was already going through so much.

This is a very short story about finding love in a friendship that has endured a lot of heartache.

What prompts a mild-mannered mostly law abiding woman to write erotica and erotic romance, a lot revolving around BDSM and capture/bondage? Is it the complex issue of taking or giving up control?

Vonna Harper doesn't know and she has given up trying to find the answer. It's enough that many readers are drawn to what some call the dark side. All she asks is that readers understand she writes fiction--a brand of fiction she finds fascinating.

Vonna has lost count of the number of books, novellas, and short stories she's written. What she has no doubt of, it's a hell of a ride.
