Addict by Lexi Blake

In order to destroy a legendary monster and save the royal family, Kelsey must make a deal with a devil…

When Kelsey Owens returns home to Dallas, she is a changed woman. After months of training with Marcus Vorenus , she has more control over her abilities. She’s ready to start her new job, even if it means dealing with the King of All Vampire and his partner, Devinshea Quinn. Her first assignment, however, will force her to face her past. Grayson Sloane is in trouble and she has to find him.

With the help of Gray’s brother, a full empath demon, Kelsey tracks her one time lover down. Before she knows it, she’s pulled into Gray’s undercover operation in a demon sex club and sitting across from a Duke of Hell. Abbas Hiberna plans to use her city to test his new drug, Brimstone. It doesn’t just give supernatural creatures a high. It also leaves them vulnerable to demonic persuasion.

When the king’s own men begin to turn against him, even the royal family is in danger. Keeping them safe will put Kelsey in the duke’s crosshairs and test her fledgling relationship with Marcus. With her new life crumbling around her, a dark secret about her former lover is revealed and Kelsey will have to choose between saving Gray Sloane and the revenge she’s waited a lifetime for.

M/F Shifter Romance

This is the second book of this series and you will need to read them in order. Book #2 starts where book #1 ends.

This is a new look at Kelsey. She is stronger, tougher, and has more power than even she knows.

Marcus is her educator, lover, and protector, all wrapped into a yummy package. He loves her with all that he can, despite his own prophecy that may or may not be fulfilled. I thought that he was, at times, so "academic" that he was frustrating to read. However, he was never quite able to leave his emotions alone.

Kelsey is thrown back into the mix in this story and I loved how her relationships developed around her. There were new relationships developed, old ones renewed, and still the mystery of where her destiny was taking her.

This story had much more in it that I felt was a testament to how Blake is able to weave an amazing story. We are introduced to new characters, but with these new characters, new problems are introduced and some old issues are resolved.

I can't wait to see what's next, because with the new powers for characters – whew! It's going to be amazing!

Kelsey Owens is back. She’s grown into her powers and she has a new job – as the king’s Death Machine. She is living with her trainer and lover, Marcus, but she isn’t quite over her feelings for Gray. Like the first book, I read this one in a single sitting and I loved every moment of it.

In some ways, this is the most straightforward of the books in this series. Kelsey works with her friends to track down a powerful new drug being sold to the Supernatural community. There is still an immense backstory and complex subplots about the power struggles among demons, vampires, shifters, and others – but there is a single, central plot in this second book that made it a little bit easier to follow and gave it a natural structure.

This is a sexier book than the first one. Kelsey isn’t a sexual innocent and in the second book she starts to push the boundaries of monogamy. There is still more action than sex here but it is a sexier story. I really enjoyed the supporting characters and the continued world building in this second book.

This is a great series. I haven’t read the Thieves books that come before these ones and I’m managing to catch up with the world building just fine. However, this doesn’t stand alone – new readers need to start at the beginning with Ripper.
