Timing by Mary Calmes

Stefan Joss just can’t win. Not only does he have to go to Texas in the middle of summer to be the man of honor in his best friend Charlotte’s wedding, but he’s expected to negotiate a million-dollar business deal at the same time. Worst of all, he’s thrown for a loop when he arrives to see the one man Charlotte promised wouldn’t be there: her brother, Rand Holloway.

Stefan and Rand have been mortal enemies since the day they met, so Stefan is shocked when a temporary cease-fire sees the usual hostility replaced by instant chemistry. Though leery of the unexpected feelings, Stefan is swayed by a sincere revelation from Rand, and he decides to give Rand a chance.

But their budding romance is threatened when Stefan’s business deal goes wrong: the owner of the last ranch he needs to secure for the company is murdered. Stefan’s in for the surprise of his life as he finds himself in danger as well.

I have read a number of Ms. Calmes’ books and she never disappoints. For some reason, I had not read this one before, so was very happy to be given a copy – with the super hot new cover!

There are a number of threads that run through the book. A wedding to showcase the friendship between Stefan and his bestie, Charlotte, and a work-related plot to lend the drama. Rand, Char's brother, has finally reached the end of his patience and makes a move on the very man he has been avoiding since he met him in his sister's dorm. Stef, who avoids commitment at all cost, is not impressed, but once the chemistry turns from repelling to most definitely combining, we are in for a treat. The relationship builds at a perfect rate, given how intertwined these two men's lives have been. Add in the drama, and the thought of those two very sexy men, and this is a very enjoyable story.

Looking forward to reading the follow on, which is set a couple of years later.

MARY CALMES lives in Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband and two children and loves all the seasons except summer. She graduated from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. Due to the fact that it is English lit and not English grammar, do not ask her to point out a clause for you, as it will so not happen. She loves writing, becoming immersed in the process, and believes without question in happily ever afters, and writes those for each and every one of her characters.
