Private Dances by BA Tortuga

Dale is working his way through college as an exotic dancer. While he prefers to keep his performances public, it’s tough to say no to the private dances, even though they’re risky. Three songs, just dancing, no touching—Dale can do this and be handsomely compensated.

For Italian businessman Adriano “Gen” Genovese, the handsome cowboy tempts him into wanting more than one dance. Gen convinces Dale to indulge in another dance and a night in his decadent hotel room. He introduces Dale to a glittering world of wealth on a scale Dale has never even imagined.

As the romance between the down-home Texas student and the millionaire playboy heats up, they come to realize the only risk they face is losing their hearts.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
Private Dances is a good read, with a surprising twist which breaks up the story very effectively. I liked the leads, although I didn't feel we really got to know them as well as I might have liked. It, however, made for an enjoyable read, and along with a sweet romance there was some clearly genuine passion and chemistry.

I normally love Tortuga stories, but this one... this one fell flat for me.

Gen and Dale are a strange couple. Now, sometimes this works, but I think that this time it's just plain odd.

While Dale works as an exotic dancer, he wants to forge his own path. While he isn't exactly sure where that path will play out, he knows that he cannot and doesn't want to accept help.

Then you have Gen. He's a successful businessman who seems to have this weird fascination with Dale.

I think where I have the most difficulties is that there is really no buildup, no chemistry, and no heat. While I did admire how Dale wanted to make it on his own, we somehow ended up with the hint that might not have happened. It was all a little bit fuzzy.

This was an underwhelming story for me.
