Dos Lunas by Belinda McBride

He’s a successful businessman, has a hot girlfriend and drives a nice truck. But all the trappings of a good life are little more than a lie. Underneath, there’s a void big enough to drive his truck right through. Something’s broken inside Diego until Victoria Talbot walks into Tres Lobos dry cleaners, bearing a gorgeous dress and a dominant attitude.

Victoria isn’t quite what she seems. Her icy blond appearance masks the heart of a skilled Domme. Her job at the library hides the true reason she’s in Sleeping Dog, Texas. In a move that will either make or break her flagging career, Victoria is chasing down rumors of werewolves in town, and she’s pretty sure those rumors are true.

Unfortunately, all the clues lead to roguish Diego Lobos. Everything about the man puts him firmly off limits, but somehow, he captures her with his wild nature and titillates her with hints of a submissive streak that’s just too alluring to ignore.

A night of play is a bad idea, but it’s just too good to resist. Because sometimes the bad ideas turn out to be the best ideas of all.

Femme Domme stories like this are few and far between. Mutual respect for the male and female are a must for any story, and even more importantly in my opinion, where there is a female Dominant and a male Submissive.

Dos Lunas tells the story of Diego and Victoria. Diego doesn't know that he is submissive, only that there is something missing in his life. He was instantly attracted to Victoria when she first moved to town, sensing something about her, in her, that pulled to him and his wolf.

Taking a chance and going to a Munch in Dallas, he scents something – someone familiar and makes the decision to attend the club later that night. Seeing the Lady in Red stokes a need inside him, a willingness to do the things that She tells him to do, to bask in the pleasure he knows only She can give him.

Victoria is the Lady in Red, but after being hurt several years ago, she left her home and changed her name to begin again in small town Texas. She has lusted after Diego from afar and only after giving him a command in a purely vanilla fashion and watching him obey does she believe that they might find mutual pleasure in each other.

Diego doesn't know that Victoria has been sent to Sleeping Dog to search out information on werewolves or that she is hiding from those who would take revenge for past sins.

Once the facts come to light, only time will tell if Victoria and Diego will make things work.

Heat Level: Extremely hot

I was excited to see a domme book as there aren't a whole lot out there it seems. I loved that it added in the whole shifter dynamic as well making it even more unique.

The story itself was quite interesting and I loved the few surprises that we found along the way. However, I did wish that we'd have gotten to see more of Victoria acting as a domme more than just speak of her being one and more of Diego being a shifter. However, there were a few of each so I suppose I was happy enough about it.

I have to say there were a few extremely surprising twists that I loved and shocked me which was nice.

Overall, well written and sexy to boot.

Belinda was born in Inglewood, California, but grew up far to the north in the shadow of Mt. Shasta. While her upbringing seemed pretty normal to her, she was surrounded by a fascinating array of friends and family, including a polyamorous grandmother, a grandfather who is a Native American icon, and various cowboys, hippies, scoundrels and saints.

She has a degree in history and cultural anthropology, but in 2006 made the life-changing decision to quit her job as a public health paraprofessional and stay at home fulltime to care for her severely disabled, autistic niece. This difficult decision gave Belinda the gift of time, which allowed her to return to writing fiction, which she’d abandoned years before.

Belinda’s hobbies include soap making, collecting gemstones, travel, and martial arts. She has two daughters, six Siberian Huskies and an array of wild birds that visit the feeders in the front yard.

She supports no-kill animal shelters, and donates platelets twice monthly at her local blood center.

As an author, Belinda loves crossing genres, kicking taboos to the curb, and pulling from world mythology and folklore for inspiration. She is committed to taking her readers on an emotional journey and never forgets that at the end of the day, she’s writing about love.
