One Indulgence was a surprise, as I had no idea what to expect when I began reading. I was hooked from page one. Henry and Richard were very human in their inner monologue and actions and reactions. Both a victim of circumstance of the era. Henry was not free to be who he was, everything being dictated to him by a misguided sense of loyalty. Richard, while not bound to as many obligations of the times, he wasn't free either.

I enjoyed the realistic struggle, not the characters against each other but struggling within themselves as well as against society. As the story unfolds, the readers will be drawn to Richard and slightly put-off by Henry. Henry's actions, while they could be perceived as annoying and daft, were highly realistic.

One Indulgence was a deliciously angsty read, perfect for those who love Historical Romance. Not only an MM Romance, but well-rounded with many side characters reaching out to find their own bit of happiness.

Will I read more by this author? At 20% into One Indulgence, I begged for book #2 to review. Now I wait impatiently.
