Corbin’s Bend – The Man She Needed by Ruth Staunton

Norah Waldon comes to Corbin's Bend to start over after her husband of 10 years is killed in a freak accident. For the first time since college, she is on her own. She’s determined to fulfill her dream of owning her own bookstore, and for the first time in her life wants to live somewhere where she can be herself as she's been hiding her desire for a DD relationship for far too long. Her late husband would have never understood. If she can get her bookstore off the ground, and maybe just maybe find an HOH who will take care of her the way she's always wanted, everything will be perfect.

Enter Caine Landry the carpenter who is working on her bookstore. He brings out things in her she hasn't felt in years. There's just one problem. He doesn't live in Corbin's Bend and has no interest whatsoever in anything involving spanking. He had plenty of that growing up thanks to his grandfather and his belt. He can never do that to another person, no matter how he might feel about Norah.

Will their differences prove to be insurmountable or can Caine somehow find a way to become the man she needs?

Let me start by saying I have read the first three seasons of Corbin’s Bend, have enjoyed most of them. This one, not so much, I was honestly bored through most of the book. I couldn’t connect with the characters and I didn’t feel the connection between them. Norah says she will never hook up with someone who isn’t into spanking. Caine can never get into the lifestyle. They start to date but nothing even happens until almost 65% into the book and once it FINALLY started, it really wasn’t explosive or even semi-hot. This book didn’t really work for me but I am hoping it was just a fluke.

Characters: Couldn’t connect
Sex: Yes
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Yes
Genre: Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

I have read the previous seasons of Corbin's Bend – and whilst you can definitely pick and choose, I would recommend that you read them in order, as characters feature throughout the books.

I was really pleased that Quincy and Abby were key friends to Norah at the beginning of this book. And it was good to see more of Ben, as Caine's friend, as we so often just get to see Jonathan. As for the romance, it was sweet, frustrating, and quite similar to a previous storyline – although the opening of a bookshop in Corbin's Bend is definitely a cause for rejoicing.

This is the latest installment in the Corbin's Bend series. The story was sweet, soulful and honest in the romance between Caine and Norah. The timeline allowed each to get to know each other and what they expected from a relationship.
