Reaper's Fall by Joanna Wylde Blog Tour

The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs” as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

“You want to watch a movie or something?” she asked, nodding toward the TV. I had a decent one, too. Giant-ass flat-screen—homecoming present from the club.

“Sure,” I said, reaching for the remote. I didn’t have cable, but Ruger had set up some kind of box thingie for me so I could stream shit. “Whatcha in the mood for?”

“Not horror,” she said quickly, and I laughed again, remembering that first evening I’d spent with her at Pic’s house. She’d been so young and scared and vulnerable . . . I’d wanted to eat her up.

I still wanted to eat her.

“I can’t believe that you and Puck were supposed to be watching over me, and then you put in a slasher movie. That’s not how you make a girl feel safe.”

“No horror,” I agreed, although the thought of holding her for a couple hours while she was scared shitless appealed way more than it should. Watch it, asshole. “How about Star Wars?”

“You like Star Wars?”

I shrugged. “Everyone likes Star Wars. You know, I’m pretty damned sure Han Solo was a biker.”

She giggled. “You mean, like a space biker?”

“See, when you say it like that it sounds stupid.”

“I wanted to be Princess Leia. She’s badass,” she said, taking a deep drink of her beer. I watched as her lips wrapped around the neck, her throat swallowing. Oh fuck, that was good. She set the beer down on the coffee table with a clink, then let loose with the biggest burp I’d ever heard.

“Fucking hell,” I said, stunned. “I didn’t think girls could burp like that. Shit. Impressive, Mel. Very impressive.”

She grinned at me.

“We’re friends,” she told me. “And friends don’t need to worry about stuff like that. Let me guess—you’ve never had a female friend before?”

“Not really,” I admitted. “I’m think I’m a little scared.”

Scared and turned on, which was weird.

“You should be. I can do the whole alphabet.”

Damn. I kinda wanted to see that.

I can't remember where I first picked up a book from Joanna Wylde but I can tell you that her excellent writing hasn't changed. One of the very few that I read that can pull the alpha out of a male and wet your panties at the same time. Since I read Horse and Marie, I can only describe reading her books as devouring this series. Untold MC action and down and dirty men who will stop at nothing to make a woman his old lady. This book has Painter and Mel but the whole gang is here. I loved reading it, devoured it, and now I'm sad to have to wait for another. It's really nice to see how large this author has become and I wouldn't miss another one. This is one author I just have to read. Five stars of entertainment.

I'm still in book hangover from Joanna's latest installment in the Reapers MC series. This is Levi “Painter” Brook's book. After Painter and Silver Bastards member, Puck, go down on a weapons charge, the pair end up in prison. They have to watch each other’s backs and get through their prison sentence intact. The only thing keeping Painter going are letters from Melanie. The girl that London took under her wing after her mother disappeared. Melanie is young and deserves a good life, one Painter has decided he can’t give her even though he wants to. His club and his brothers will ALWAYS come first. Painter needs to leave Melanie alone, for her own good, but he can’t deny his attraction. His self-loathing and self-denial are well written and heartfelt. Who doesn't love the tortured biker? Painter with his no holds barred, cut to the chase, no bull attitude made me fall for this hot bad boy! He tells Melanie how it is – he doesn't do girlfriends, he gets bored, he's a jerk and I end up loving him for it. How's that for good character writing? Thank you Joanna Wylde! Many trials and stops/starts later, do Melanie and Painter finally get it together? The story is so worth the read to find out!! I adore this group of guys and the girls that support them! Other than some very large jumps in the time frame that I would have loved more story instead of, this book is a fast intense read. I couldn't put it down and was sad when it was done.

The further we get into the Reapers MC series, the better it gets. Painter and Melanie's relationship starts out lovely and sweet, with Melanie writing Painter letters while he is in prison. It soon ends up a train wreck. If you are after a neat and perfect romance look somewhere else. This is messy, emotional, hot. A relationship where two people make mistakes, sometimes huge mistakes, and that is what makes this story so great.

I loved this couple. They aren't perfect, they do stupid things. I mean did Painter really ask that question? Idiot – Lol! They also do really hot sexy things. The scenes involving paint are a big highlight.

Life continues for the Reapers MC and we get to see inside club life, plenty of which involves illegal activities, which has a huge impact on Melanie and Painter. We also get to spend time with many of the characters we've come to know and love (or in the case of Melanie's best friend Jess – hate) over the course of the series.

Joanna Wylde has taken it up a notch with Reaper's Fall. It was amazing!

Painter....

Painter is a self-described manwhore. He knows no one woman will hold his attention for long, a week max. He's never had a female friend until he meets Melanie. Melanie becomes Painter's pen pal while he's in prison. He tells Mel more than he has ever told anyone else. That's why he needs to friend zone her before he gets out of prison, he needs the distance before he breaks her.

As a read, I fell in love with Painter.

I wanted to kill Painter.

Then I wanted to stab a sharp stick through Mel's eye. Come on he was being sweet, he was trying.

Izzy – motorcycle princess was adorable.

Ugh...

Painter is off the charts sexy and the chemistry between him and Mel is explosive. I absolutely love this series. I start jonesing as soon as I finish one waiting for the next. Ms. Wylde is a genius, a hard core, MC writing genius. She really should be bowed too.

This is the first book in the Reapers MC series that I’ve read and I really liked it! The book starts with Melanie coming into a bar on a date with a man and Painter, her ex, is there and has a conniption fit. We find out that they have a child together and that’s the only thing that’s keeping Painter from murdering Melanie’s date, then Painter grabs Melanie drags her away… then we go back in time 5 years. Mel is writing letters to Painter in prison and they’re getting to know one another. Painter doesn’t believe he’s good enough for Mel and when he gets released from prison he kind of ignores her. They go back and forth with this for a while and the sexual tension between the two builds and builds. When they finally give in to the sexual tension and begin a relationship it’s ruined by “club business.” Mel wants a man that puts her first and has a hard time understanding why Painter is always putting the club first.

I’m giving a 4-star rating for the simple fact that I hated the way it started and then we went back in time. I personally don’t read books that are written that way because I have no patience and I find myself skimming to get back to the present. It’s a well written book with a great flow, I didn’t want to put it down once I started reading it. It has just the right amount of humor, steamy sex, and intriguing mystery to make it a great read. I highly recommend checking it out. I’m definitely going to be looking into other books from this series!
