The Boy I Grew Up With by Tijan

I have loved Channing Monroe all my life.

In first grade, he asked for my Trapper Keeper.
I hit him in the head with it.
Third grade, we were best friends. We kissed in seventh grade.
Eighth grade, he turned into a bad boy and the rest was a tumultuous storm.

Growing up, the problem was never love for us.
Bad times. Good times. There were times when I felt our love in every inch of my body, vibrating, making me feel like it could bring me back to life.

The problem was us.

The problem is that we’re living in two different worlds now.
Fallen Crest and its millionaires for me. Roussou and their criminals for him. I was thriving in mine and he was running his.

But…

But there were nights I felt we couldn’t be further apart than we were, and there were nights I felt we shared the same heartbeat.

When was it time?
When was it time to either sacrifice, make a change, or walk away from the boy I grew up with

I'm enjoying the stories of our gang from Roussou, even without Kade and Logan! We read Channing's sister's story first and now we get Channing and Heather's story. I wanted to know what was going on with Heather during the entire first book, so I was excited to finally get her side. Heather is a rough and tough chick, as you have to be to survive in Roussou. She runs the local bar and restaurant that all the Fallen Crest people tend to frequent. She's friends with Kade and Samantha from Fallen Crest. Channing has been in her life since they were in grade school and either for good or bad, they grew up together and grew in love with each other. But Channing is crew. And it's crew before everyone, including Heather. On again, off again, the two have been in a love-hate relationship for many years.

After Heather loses the baby that should have finally sealed the fate between them, they're struggling to find their happily ever after. War with the local MC, and Channing's sister having drama, the two have to find time to get themselves back on the same page.

Heather sometimes came off a bit more psycho than fierce to me, but you felt for her just the same. Channing is trying so hard to balance work, crew, family, and love, I felt for him through most of the book.

There was good story in here, but you had to weed through a large amount of extraneous stuff that should have been entertaining but I just found bothersome. I did a lot of skimming, but four solid stars for the story that's mixed up in there! Nice little bonus scene at the end with our favorite Fallen Crest foursome! I miss Kade and Logan.
