Texas Heat by RJ Scott

Against the backdrop of twenty half naked models on DD land, and in the midst of fighting the oil establishment that just won't give Riley a chance, Texas Heat is the story of one hot summer in Texas with a Gay Rodeo, humor, angst and a love between two men that just grows stronger every day.

Jack hires Robbie, a man recovering from a great loss, to be his right hand man. Meanwhile Riley's mischievous photographer friend, Eli, decides the DD is the perfect backdrop for a cowboy themed model shoot. Eli has secrets not even Riley knows about but despite what he is hiding he falls in lust with Robbie at first sight. Everyone except Robbie can see how perfect Eli would be for him.

What happens when secrets spill and lies are discovered? And just how far will Riley and Jack go to play matchmaker?

Jack's ranch is expanding. He is doing well with his horse ventures and now that he needs more help, because of the family he has, he is called upon to help out. Jack is asked to take in a 20-year-old who has been kicked out of his own life because of bigotry.

Robbie is recovering from losing someone he loves. When he finds himself back on a ranch, somewhere that makes sense to him, he is immediately at ease with his new-found family. Horses are something he understands, and he knows they won't judge him. When he first meets Haley, she also puts him at ease and welcomes him into the family fold with no qualms.

When Riley's old college roommate comes to town and asks to use the ranch for a cowboy photoshoot, Riley and Jack say okay. What they didn't expect was for Robbie and Eli to fancy each other as much as they do. Eli and Robbie didn't expect that either. Despite Eli's health concerns, he wants to live his life to the fullest it can be.

Scott does a fantastic job at weaving the two couples into the story but leaving the main characters as the couple that you focus on. They are still having their own ups and downs, finding their way through the family life. But with Robbie and Eli added to the story, it just gives it another dimension – more depth.

I can't wait to see what more can happen and how they all handle it.

This is the third book in the series, and you definitely need to read them in order. They are just lovely stories, so it will be no hardship! My review assumes that you are up-to-date.

There is a lovely feeling of coming to visit old friends to this installment. We have a wedding, continued business issues for Riley, and new horses to train for Jack. Hayley is settling in well, and both men are contemplating whether they should add another child to their family. Whilst their romance is secure and maturing, Eden is still waiting on Sean to settle down.

The romantic excitement though is brought to us by the unexpected attraction between newly arrived cowboy, Robbie, and old college friend of Riley's, photographer Eli. I loved the considered way that Robbie rationalised whether he could cope with risking his heart again, and the fact that Eli was just irresistible. I cannot wait to read on in the future books.

Really enjoying this saga developing through these very readable books.

RJ’s goal is to write stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and most importantly, that hint of a happily ever after.

RJ is the author of the over one hundred novels and discovered romance in books at a very young age. She realized that if there wasn’t romance on the page, she could create it in her head, and is a lifelong writer.

She lives and works out of her home in the beautiful English countryside, spends her spare time reading, watching films, and enjoying time with her family.

The last time she had a week’s break from writing she didn’t like it one little bit and has yet to meet a bottle of wine she couldn’t defeat.

She’s always thrilled to hear from readers, bloggers and other writers.
