Screwed by Kelly Jamieson

Cash Hale has been in love with his best friend’s wife forever. Now Callie and Beau are divorced, but she’s still way off-limits. Dating her would betray his friendship with Beau. And Cash is nothing if not loyal.

Callie Sutherland is starting over. The end of her marriage was just one more way she failed to live up to her wealthy family’s expectations, so from now on she’s not even going to try. It’s time to live her life the way she wants. And she wants Cash.

Cash and Beau aren’t just friends, they’re business partners, and the drop in the price of oil has hurt their business. They need to win the bid for Sutherland Industries’ next big project—but it may get messy since Callie’s family owns the business. Not only would Cash risk his friendship with Beau to be with her, he’d be risking the company they worked so hard to create.

But this new Callie isn’t taking no for an answer.

He’s so screwed...

Kelly Jamieson is a new-to-me author but the premise sounded good and I took a chance. It's a good book, I enjoyed the storyline very much. Callie is recently divorced but her parents still love her ex. She's a bit of a socialite and good Southern belle. Trying to find her way after her divorce, she finds herself wanting to open her own bakery, much to her parents’ and her ex's annoyance. Cash is her ex's best friend and he's also still his business partner, but he's still Callie's friend too. Cash has had a crush on Callie since the first time his best friend brought her around. Cash is a good man trying to do the right thing. His inner battle with what he wants and what he shouldn't have makes for good reading. Callie is a strong leading lady and goes for what she wants in her life. The two have some quite fun, steamy scenes in backrooms and bathrooms. But I was a little on the fence about Cash's pillow talk. I love a good dirty talker, but Cash wasn't pulling it off for me. The story got a little too drawn out towards the end, but still a good read. I'd call this a fun summer read.

This is a super cute, super sweet romance between two characters I didn’t actually expect to like. Privileged debutante divorcees aren’t usually my cup of tea, but I found it impossible not to love Callie just a little bit – even if she is rich, beautiful, and pretty much perfect. Cash has a slightly grittier past, but his Southern charm is even harder to resist.

The ex-husband’s-best-friend thing threw me more than a little at the start of this story. The circumstances around Cash and Callie’s relationship made it slightly more palatable but it took some time before I was able to invest in their relationship. There were times I felt that Callie’s personal growth/rebellion was slightly compromised because although Cash grew up poor, he still manages to tick all of her parents’ boxes for an appropriate partner.

Callie’s bakery is a wonderful fantasy career – and a realistic career for a trust fund kid. I’m not sure if I was supposed to applaud the fact that she actually started working instead of lunching, but I think it must be impossible not to be annoyed by the way Callie’s privilege allowed her contracts for lucrative society events before she even had business cards printed.

Ultimately, this is a sweet and frothy romance between two impossibly perfect people. It’s probably a little bit too fluffy for me but it is a charming story and a perfect easy beach read.

I have read a number of Kelly Jamieson novels, and this is another good addition to the collection. The writing style is easy and conversational, and it doesn't take long to get into the story.

I really liked both Cash and Callie's characters, although the fact that Cash had loved her for years and she really had no clue showed just what a good guy he was! Mind you, once he gets a chance to get close, he cannot resist, and his expectations for the chemistry were not wrong... they definitely click! The bathroom incident at the engagement party was very funny.

There are a number of lovely cameo roles too – for example, Callie's grandparents – which add to the depth of the story and bring to life the reasons why Callie behaves as she does. Do make sure that you are not hungry when you start to read, as the deliciousness that comes out of her kitchen and bakery had me wishing I had something frosted to hand! Cookie shots are something I am going to have to try making.

A lovely, sexy, and sweet read which was very entertaining.

Callie finds herself at her very own divorce parties. Her divorce from Beau has been over for a year but she left Texas for a trip around Europe. Now she is back home, and her friends have thrown her a party. She wants to do something with her life besides being a trophy wife and baking is something she loved doing while she was in Paris.

Cash has been a friend to Callie since Callie started dating Beau, he was Beau's best friend since they were in college. The more Cash got to know Callie, he found himself falling in love with her. But he couldn’t say anything because Beau and Callie were falling for each other. Now that they are divorced, he finds himself wanting her more but feeling guilty as if being with her is betraying Beau. He doesn't want to lose Callie as a friend, but he can't lose Beau as a friend and business partner.

Can Callie make her bakery vision come to life? Will Cash show her how he really feels? Will Callie's family keep pushing her to get back together with Beau?

This is a really good story that is a fun, sweet, and loving story that will have you rooting for the good guys to win in the end. If you are looking for a really good friends-to-lovers story, then this one is for you.
