Guest Post: Giving New York City Some Love by Morgan Doremus

Paris, St. Moritz, Venice—these are just a few of the cities you might associate with an ultra-romantic date night.

But what about New York City?

Pushy pedestrians, dirty subway cars, and endless traffic noise can make it hard to imagine the Big Apple filled with Big Romance. But thanks to some recently released romance novels you will soon be yearning to grab someone you love and head out for an exciting getaway to NYC.

Not Quite Crazy
by Catherine Bybee

Fresh from California, transplant Rachel Price doesn’t think she is cut out for the Big Apple. After all, she can’t even ride the subway since she’s convinced she’ll be mugged. Instead she braves the elements to drive into the city. While the hour long commute may be a hassle, it does lead to her meet Jason “Stranded Car Guy” in the middle of a snow storm. Rachel doesn’t know it at the time, but she was destined to get to know the rich charmer since he is Jason Fairchild, her new boss. Awkward! At first Rachel tries to stay out of the city... and away from her sexy employer, yet some temptations are just too good to pass up.

Amber
by Elle Casey

Amber Fields’ fairytale upbringing on a farm in Maine certainly didn’t prepare her for the bright lights of New York. However, in order to track down her absentee father she must brave what she calls the city’s “stench cocktail” of exhaust and body odor. But after taking in architecture so beautiful that it makes her cry and discovering concierge service that delivers 24/7, Amber is sold on the merits of urban living. The one thing that trumps the city’s amenities: rock star Ty Stanz. The hunky guitarist is too talented and good looking to say no to and the sheltered farm girl finds herself whisked through the city, stopping at all the best spots from Central Park to the most delicious hot dog shop in the tri-state area. With differences wider than the Hudson River, the sparks these two ignite is surprising, but you know what they say about opposites attracting...

Bad Bachelor
by Stefanie London

The hustle and bustle of the big city has left PR wiz Reed McMahon a bit jaded, but that doesn’t stop him from doing a good deed—helping out a local librarian raise money for her community programs. Darcy Greer, librarian extraordinaire, is strong, unpretentious, and nonjudgmental. This is good since Reed’s personal life is being splashed throughout Manhattan with a new app that has rated him the city’s #1 “bad bachelor”. His exes don’t consider his heart up for grabs—not even Reed thinks he is capable of falling in love—however Darcy has a stubborn streak, honed from years of living in NYC, that has her fighting for the man she knows is hers.

Stumbling Into Love
by Aurora Rose Reynolds

In Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Fluke My Life series, the Reed sisters know NYC. They are natives that can direct you to the nearest pizza place, show you the correct way to hail a cab, and offer advice on how to finagle your clothes into a too tiny apartment closet. The one thing the sisters don’t have a clue about—falling in love. Which is why it is so amazing that out of the millions of people living on one tiny island, oldest sibling Mackenzie has somehow found the perfect guy. As one of New York City’s Finest, Wesley Porter treks to the worst neighborhoods to catch bad guys. He knows darkness, has seen danger, but he is not so broken that he doesn’t understand the beauty that is Mac’s love.

Claimed
by Alexa Riley

As the leading authority in computer security, Jordan Chen watches over one of the biggest corporations in NYC with sophisticated surveillance cameras. But his favorite sight has always been Jay Rose, the assistant to the big boss. Jordan’s sneaky cyber snooping allows him to synchronize their schedules, however, after years of waiting for their lunches to turn into something more, he is convinced that Jay has him friend-zoned. Hard. So Jordan opts for a different tactic—he’ll get them away from the steel high rise work building and into the city that never sleeps to have some fun. Unfortunately, their dates turn disastrous when they end up on the wrong end of a smelly horse, fall into a water hazard, and encounter a weird naked guy (don’t ask). Thankfully, these two (kinda) dorky overachievers won’t allow their less-than-stellar beginning to sink their beautiful romance that is far from the friend-zone.
