Trusting Thomas by K.C. Wells in Collars & Cuffs Vol. 1

Christmas is a time for goodwill to all, but Collars and Cuffs co-owner Thomas Williams receives an unexpected gift that chills him to the bone. A Dom from another Manchester club asks Thomas for his help rescuing an abused submissive, Peter Nicholson. Thomas takes in the young man as a favor to a friend, offering space and time to heal, but he makes it clear he’s never had a sub and doesn't want one.

Peter finds Thomas’s home calm and peaceful, but his past has left him unwilling to trust another Dom. When Thomas doesn't behave as Peter expects, Peter’s nightmares begin to fade, and he decides he’d like to learn more about D/s life. A well-known trainer of submissives, Thomas begins to teach Peter, but as the new submissive opens up to him, Thomas finds he cares more for Peter than he should. Just as he decides it’s time to find a permanent Dom for Peter, they discover Peter’s tormentor is still very much a threat. With their lives in danger, Thomas can’t deny his feelings for Peter any longer. The question now becomes, can Peter make it out of the lions’ den alive, so that Thomas can tell his boy that he loves him?

Veronica☆☆☆☆
Thomas, the owner of Collar & Cuffs, takes in Peter, a sub that has been abused. Peter's abuse was severe and reading about it is pretty tough. The author gives us enough details for us to be horrified, but not so much that the story is bogged down in it.

My heart went out to Peter so many times. It takes a lot of time and hard work to move on after where Peter has been and I couldn't help but admire his strength.

Thomas is concerned about the 30-year age gap between him and Peter and doesn't think he can be Peter's permanent Dom. I'm not usually one for large age gaps between couples but it works well here. Watching staunch bachelor, Thomas, slowly fall in love with his sub was beautiful. I felt completely content after reading Trusting Thomas. It was lovely.

This is the second book in the series, and although each book is about another pairing, the underlying story continues, and we get to catch up with old friends too. I am writing this review assuming that you have read the first in the series already.

In book one we met Alex, who has no experience of BDSM, and once he discovered that Leo was a Dom, he had to decide whether he wanted to learn about submission. Here we have the story of Peter, who wanted to explore his submissive tendencies and was basically abused by someone calling himself a Dom. As we learn just how devastatingly badly he has been treated, he has to learn what the D/s dynamic really should be. Thomas, Leo's partner in Collars & Cuffs club, takes on the task of helping Peter, and finds that he is much more invested than he expected. As we watch these men cope with Peter's demons, and aim for a positive outcome, it is difficult not to think that they are perfect for each other.

Really well written, with the emotions and the intensity of the story really getting under your skin – I highly recommend this series, and this book in particular.

I've always written, right from an early age. I was always writing stories as a child, and as I grew up, I had the idea of writing a novel, like so many people do. Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. Wells always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, where the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter... K.C. now writes full time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it... it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.
